00:00The KL High Court was told on Monday that the police had issued a blue notice to Interpol

00:07to locate the whereabouts of an American couple over the 2017 murder of Dutch model Ivana

00:14Esther Roberts-Smith.

00:16Senior Federal Counsel Noorzool Izati Zulkipli said the notice was issued last Wednesday

00:22against Alexander William Johnson, aged 51, and Lunara Almazghizi, aged 37, who were linked

00:30with the death of the 18-year-old model.

00:33This was the second notice against the couple.

00:36The first one was issued on November 18, 2020.

00:39Following this development, lawyer Datuk S.N. Nayyir, representing Ivana's mother, Christina

00:45Verstappen, said the dates earlier set for the trial have been vacated to October 21.

00:54As you heard in court just now, the Attorney General's office and us are working on a proposed

01:00settlement that we put to them and they couldn't, they did part of it, they managed to get the

01:07police to issue the blue notice, which is the Interpol notice, but then the settlement

01:14requires more than that.

01:16So that has to be finalized.

01:18And so the AG asked for a few more days.

01:21So the next hearing date is to be 21st because 16 is too short.

01:27So 26th, 21st morning, before that we should get the settlement.

01:31I can't disclose it at this stage.

01:34And if that is done, then we will not proceed on the 21st and settle it.

01:40If not, we start, okay, we start the trial.

01:43Verstappen was found dead on the sixth floor of Cap Square Residence after falling from

01:48the 20th floor of a condominium unit owned by Johnson on December 7, 2017.

01:55The coroner's court later ruled that her death was caused by a misadventure.

01:59Verstappen filed an appeal and on November 22, 2019, the High Court set aside the coroner's

02:05verdict, replacing it with a verdict of death by a person or persons unknown.

02:11Verstappen then filed the suit against the police, Home Minister Dang Wanggi, Investigating

02:16Officer A.S.P. Faizal Abdullah, and the government for alleged breach of statutory duties and

02:23negligence in the investigation to determine the cause of her daughter's death.
