Bruce Lehrmann's lawyer has accused network ten of using "bullying tactics" as it argued the former Liberal staffer should have to pay a security before he can appeal against the result of his failed defamation case. The hearing in the federal court also saw new details emerge about Mr Lehrmann's finances.

00:15served with a bankruptcy notice over the debt.

00:25Mr Lehrman is also fighting Ten's bid for him to pay a security of costs before his

00:32Mr Lehrman's lawyer Zali Burrows argued it was well known her client was on Centrelink
00:37and wouldn't be able to pay.
00:39She accused Ten of bullying her client in a bid to shut down the appeal, which Ten's
00:44lawyers rejected.
00:46Mr Lehrman is challenging the finding that on the balance of probabilities, he raped
00:50Brittany Higgins at Parliament House in 2019.
00:53His criminal trial in the ACT Supreme Court collapsed without a verdict due to juror misconduct.
00:59But lawyers for the network and Ms Wilkinson argue Mr Lehrman has had his day in court
01:04and he doesn't deserve another at their expense.
