00:00Sabrina Carpenter's signature dolled-up, pink-cheeked style is as iconic as her music,
00:05but she's also quite striking when she offers a peek at what she looks like without any makeup on.
00:10Carpenter is one of the most popular It Girls of the 2020s thus far. Between her acting work
00:15and a singing career that's seen her release fun and bubbly tracks like Espresso and open
00:19for Taylor Swift on tour, there isn't much she can't do. She's also a fashion darling who loves
00:24to play around with her makeup and hair. Whether she's performing on stage or dazzling photographers
00:29on the red carpet, she often embraces 60s-inspired curls, bold eyeshadow, and pink highlighted
00:34cheeks. Her makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, summed up her look when she told PopSugar,
00:39"[Sabrina's signature style is glowing skin, flushed cheeks, fluffy, delicate eyes,
00:44and a plump lip.] Although Carpenter clearly enjoys wearing makeup,
00:47she also welcomes a little balance in her hectic life. As she told Marie Claire in July 2022,
00:52"'I definitely love doing makeup, love playing with makeup, but I don't wear it every day.
00:56I like to give my skin a break when I'm on set a lot. It can be very easy to sweat in makeup
01:01and have super long days when you're wearing it, so I try not to wear it all the time."
01:05Although Carpenter hasn't posted many of those makeup-free selfies to her Instagram,
01:09she has shown her bare face a few times in some promotional videos,
01:12and as you might expect, she looks strikingly different without makeup.
01:15Carpenter regularly leaned into the girl-next-door aesthetic when she starred as Maya Hart on the
01:20Disney Channel show Girl Meets World. Since then, though, she's upgraded her look considerably.
01:24That makes sense, as she was a teenager when that show aired, and now she's in her 20s.
01:28Nevertheless, she called back to simpler times during a morning routine video for Elle magazine
01:33in November 2021. The 11-minute video features Carpenter getting ready to face the day while
01:38still in her pajamas. Unlike her sultry on-stage performances, she wore zero makeup,
01:43loose-fitting pajamas, and her natural curls. And in case you were wondering,
01:47she enjoys a cup of green tea and time on her fire escape before returning to form
01:51and applying her skincare routine and makeup for the day. Carpenter also showed a bit of her
01:55bare face in a Get Ready With Me video for the 2024 Vanity Fair party. She greeted the camera
02:00crew without wearing any makeup, although her hair had already been blown out and placed into
02:04large rollers. While her makeup-free face made just a brief appearance at the start of the video,
02:08she's already more than proved that she only uses makeup to accentuate her natural beauty.
02:13That said, she certainly doesn't mind the extra boost that a good glam session can offer,
02:17and she's happy to shout out the artist behind it all.
02:20"...and Carolina does my makeup and makes me look and feel like a princess."
02:24Although Carpenter clearly loves the more glamorous perks of her career,
02:28she also enjoys letting her artistry speak for itself. Over the years,
02:31she's posted a few videos showcasing her talent while in her most natural state. For example,
02:36in July 2022, she posted a black-and-white video of herself singing
02:40"'Emails I Can't Send' on TikTok. The song's official visuals are considerably more stripped
02:44back than some of her other singles, but this scaled-back performance takes things a step
02:49further. In the TikTok, Carpenter flaunts her bare face and natural wavy hair as she belts
02:54out the emotional track. Carpenter also went makeup-free in a similar TikTok posted in January
02:582023, when she treated her fans to a melancholy remix of her famous Nonsense outros. She once
03:04again showcased her more natural side while wearing no makeup, along with wild, frizzy curls
03:08and a plain gray T-shirt. But unlike the outros that her fans have grown accustomed to, which
03:13often feature double entendres, Carpenter channeled her softer side here, as she dug into the lyrics
03:18about feeling like nonsense and having cobwebs in her stomach.
