Transcript
00:00Assalamu alaikum Dr. Zaiq.
00:03Walaikum assalam.
00:04Your name and your profession?
00:06My name is Yashmaa Sadgil and I am an actress.
00:09Yes.
00:10I know the time is limited but I really want to address your contribution in my journey.
00:18There was a time when I had fallen into the trap of atheism,
00:22back in the days when I was doing my bachelors.
00:25But Alhamdulillah, it was your videos and your lectures that brought me back to my religion
00:33and brought my spirituality back to me and my faith back to me.
00:37So Alhamdulillah for that and thank you for coming to my country and especially my city.
00:42You've been a mentor and you are my... I'm literally shaking right now.
00:47I'm so sorry.
00:49Okay, so the question is, pardon me if I say anything wrong because my knowledge is limited.
00:57But at the time when I was doing my research and I came across your lectures,
01:01there was everything else that I could understand.
01:04But one question still remains which is that this concept of predestination
01:10and then there is this one concept of us human beings and Jinnah having free will, right?
01:19So if everything has already been written, if everything is predestined,
01:24then the concept that if a thief steals somewhere,
01:29that was not written in advance.
01:31What is his accountability in that in terms of free will?
01:36My sister has asked an important question and she says that she was an actress
01:42and she was trapped in the web of atheism and after listening to my cassettes,
01:46Alhamdulillah she came back to her religion and Allah gave her guidance.
01:51Her main question is about appreciation.
01:55I want to congratulate you that you came back on the right path from the film industry.
02:02It is very difficult. If you were trapped in the web of media, it would have been difficult to come out.
02:06But Allah is giving guidance to many people.
02:10Allah has given guidance to you too.
02:12Her question is about appreciation, about destiny, free will.
02:16If Allah Almighty has written in my destiny that I will drink alcohol and I drink alcohol,
02:23then who is responsible? Allah.
02:27This question is very common.
02:30But often Muslims are afraid to ask,
02:34that don't give me a fatwa that I am a disbeliever.
02:37Allah Almighty encourages people to ask questions in the Quran.
02:43That is why you will read in the Quran,
02:45323 times,
02:48323 times it has been said,
02:51Qul, Qalu,
02:53they said,
02:55and 323 times Allah said,
02:58Qul, ask them.
03:00There is a question and answer book in the Quran.
03:02323 times it has been asked,
03:04what is this question?
03:06Allah says, Qul, ask them.
03:08They asked, who is Allah?
03:10Qul, Allah is.
03:12Qul, asking a question is not a bad thing.
03:16But this question is very common,
03:18that we believe in destiny, this is our faith.
03:20So if Allah Almighty has written in his destiny,
03:22that I will commit murder,
03:24I will kill someone,
03:26and I kill,
03:28then who is responsible? Allah.
03:30If it is written in my destiny that I will drink alcohol,
03:35and I drink alcohol, then who is responsible? Allah.
03:38The answer to this is,
03:40that we should understand the meaning of destiny.
03:43And this question,
03:44when I started Dawati Maidan,
03:46about 35 years ago,
03:49this question has troubled me a lot.
03:51Who asked me?
03:53Allah has helped me.
03:55Allah has helped me.
03:56People ask only after they get the answer.
03:58So for the first few years,
04:00I did a lot of research,
04:01but I did not get the answer in any book.
04:03I got the answer,
04:04then I asked the scholars,
04:05if it is correct?
04:06They said, Mashallah, it is a good answer.
04:07I will present it to you now.
04:09I will give an example,
04:11that if a teacher is teaching 100 children in the classroom,
04:14after teaching for a year,
04:16before the exam, the teacher says,
04:18this child will come first class first in the exam.
04:22This child will come second class.
04:24This child will fail.
04:26I am sorry, I am giving you an example.
04:28This is an example for you.
04:30And after the exam,
04:32it turns out to be correct.
04:33This child comes first class first,
04:35this child comes second class,
04:36this child fails.
04:37My question is,
04:39the child who fails,
04:41can he say that the teacher predicted,
04:44because the teacher predicted that I will fail,
04:47that is why I failed.
04:49Can he say this?
04:51Yes or no?
04:53No.
04:54The teacher used to see,
04:56that this child is studious,
04:58does his homework properly,
05:00is intelligent,
05:01this child is average,
05:02this child used to play hockey,
05:04used to come to class,
05:05used to watch movies.
05:07So the teacher,
05:09saw and predicted.
05:11And the teacher is often right,
05:12but a human being,
05:13can make a mistake.
05:14In the same way,
05:15Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la
05:17is not a human being.
05:19Allah has the knowledge of the unseen.
05:21Allah already knows,
05:23what decision you are going to take.
05:26For example,
05:28a person comes to the crossroads,
05:30he can choose one of the four roads,
05:33number one,
05:34road,
05:35number two,
05:36road,
05:37number three,
05:38number four.
05:39He chooses number two road.
05:40Whose choice?
05:41Human's.
05:42Yes or no?
05:44But Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la
05:45has the knowledge of the unseen.
05:47On the 5th of October,
05:50at 1.15 pm,
05:53he will come to the crossroads,
05:55he had four choices,
05:57road number one,
05:58road number two,
05:59road number three,
06:00road number four.
06:02Allah knows,
06:03that he will choose road number two.
06:05So Allah writes in his destiny,
06:07that this person,
06:09on the 5th of October,
06:11at 1.15 pm,
06:13will choose road number two.
06:16So who chose road number two?
06:18Allah or human?
06:21Allah chose or human chose?
06:24Human chose.
06:25So who is responsible?
06:26Allah or human?
06:28Human.
06:30He goes ahead,
06:31three more roads come,
06:33road A,
06:34road B,
06:35road C.
06:36He chooses road A.
06:37Allah knows,
06:38that he will choose road A.
06:39He writes it down.
06:40Who is responsible?
06:41Human.
06:42Allah knows,
06:43that after passing graduation,
06:45that person can earn with honesty
06:47or can earn by cheating.
06:49He earns by cheating.
06:51Allah writes,
06:52that after graduation,
06:54this person had option number,
06:57earn with honesty,
06:59earn by cheating.
07:00He will earn by cheating.
07:02He writes in advance.
07:04Who is choosing?
07:05Human.
07:06But Allah has the knowledge of the unseen.
07:09So Allah is writing,
07:12because he knows,
07:14that this person will do wrong.
07:16Not that Allah writes,
07:19and that person does wrong.
07:21Because that person is going to do wrong.
07:24Allah knows,
07:25Allah writes in advance.
07:27So who is responsible?
07:29Human.
07:31So Allah has the knowledge of the unseen.
07:34And Allah never makes a mistake.
07:38Allah has given you the right,
07:40that you can earn by cheating,
07:42or earn by honesty.
07:44You earn by honesty.
07:45Allah writes,
07:46that this person will earn by honesty.
07:49So who is responsible?
07:51Human.
07:52There is a hadith,
07:54that prayer can change destiny.
07:56It is true.
07:58For example,
07:59you go for an examination.
08:01Your paper is very bad.
08:03You know,
08:04that you are going to fail.
08:06You come home and pray.
08:08O Allah,
08:09pass me.
08:10Allah knows,
08:11that you are going to fail.
08:13You will fail.
08:15Allah also knows,
08:16that you will come home and pray.
08:18Isn't it?
08:19Allah also knows,
08:20that Allah will accept your prayer.
08:22Allah accepts your prayer.
08:24So it is written in the hadith,
08:26that this girl was going to fail.
08:29She comes home and prays.
08:31Allah accepts her prayer.
08:32He passes her.
08:34So we don't know,
08:36what will happen.
08:38So it is good to pray.
08:40That is why,
08:41Allah says,
08:43make yourself so great,
08:45that before every destiny,
08:47Allah will ask you,
08:48what is your will.
08:53So destiny means,
08:55Allah has given you authority.
08:58Not 100%.
09:0095%.
09:0290%.
09:03I want to destroy the world.
09:05Allah will not do that.
09:06But Allah has left your choice on you.
09:10He has given you guidance in Quran and hadith.
09:13Whether you follow it or not,
09:15it is on you.
09:16It is your free will.
09:18But if you make a mistake,
09:20you are responsible.
09:21If you do something good,
09:22you are responsible.
09:23That is why,
09:24Allah knows about destiny.
09:28So whatever wrong you do,
09:30Allah does not make you do it.
09:33So if you understand this,
09:35Insha Allah,
09:36you will follow the teachings of Quran.
09:40And Insha Allah,
09:41you will go to heaven.
