00:00Welcome, everyone, to Couch Potato Diary.
00:08Happy Football Friday.
00:09My name is Peter Klein, and thank you very much for tuning in today.
00:14Long-time viewers and listeners will be like, Football Friday?
00:18I thought it was Fights and Football Friday.
00:20And it still is, just in a different way.
00:22So I've kind of been, like, teasing, ooh, big announcement on these.
00:29I, first of all, I don't like to say, oh, big announcement coming.
00:33It's like, yeah, announcement coming.
00:35But also, I do think I blabbed about this earlier in the week, so again, for those following,
00:40and also for Conrad, who I just talked to about this stuff, this isn't a giant shock.
00:45But ya boy is going back into the mainstream, kind of.
00:50I am going to be on Sportsnet 960, The Fan, from 1 to 3 with Logo, every Friday, from
00:57here on forward.
00:59So things around these parts are going to be changing a little bit.
01:05Not a ton, just timing-wise, and different things like that.
01:10It's been always very important to me, whenever I go do anything with 960, to just let them
01:16know, like, look, I want to keep doing everything else that I am doing, because I love doing
01:21these.
01:22Since we've been going live with these, I have been having the time of my life that
01:24this is the most fun I've had doing anything Couch Potato-y so far, is doing the shows,
01:29doing them live.
01:31We got Gino back in the chat, he's getting ready for the Pats and the Swift Current Broncos.
01:38No, I am not abandoning Conrad on Game Over.
01:42Sportsnet has been, I was going to say they've been very supportive of it.
01:46That isn't entirely accurate, although they haven't been unsupportive of it, they just
01:49haven't said anything about it.
01:52Probably most it has been is like, hey, are you still doing that thing?
01:54It's like, yes, we're still doing that thing.
01:57Okay, cool.
01:58So I probably won't be plugging it on the air a whole lot when I'm there, but yes, I'm
02:02going to be back on Sportsnet 960 from 1 to 3 Mountain Time every Friday with Logan Gordon,
02:09and so that obviously changes things here, because I am supposed to be there for noon
02:15every day to get ready for the show, and it takes me about 40 minutes from here to walk
02:20down there, and parking's a drag, so I'm not going to try to drive.
02:24Also, I don't get paid nearly enough to pay for parking downtown.
02:27So because these shows have been going a little bit longer than they were in the past, and
02:33generally around an hour, A, seven minutes of discussion about what I am doing, wildly
02:42inefficient use of time.
02:44But also, we are going to split up Fights and Football Fridays from now on.
02:49So for the early part, we're still going to go live at 10 every day, but we got a hard-ish
02:57out between 11 and 11.10 Mountain Time, which again, makes this whole description very inefficient
03:04use of time, but I still just wanted to get it out.
03:06But yes, we are going to do Football Friday from 10 to 11 in this slot every day, and
03:11then I am going to go to Sportsnet 960 and do all the blibbity blabbity stuff that I
03:16do on there.
03:18And then I am going to come back here, and at an undetermined time, you will just have
03:23to follow me on social media, at PrimetimeKlein, and hopefully the notification thing on here
03:28gets better.
03:30But we will be going live with Fighting Fridays after everything at 960 is done.
03:35Because generally, the football stuff is A, what a lot of people in here want to talk
03:39about anyway, when we've been going live at 10.
03:42So that's what I wanted to keep.
03:43And also, it's not super time-sensitive, although we are talking about the CFL as well,
03:48and they have games on Friday nights, and so I want to get all of that out as quickly
03:51as I can.
03:53And the fight stuff, none of this stuff is happening on Friday, for the most part, right?
04:00So we can kind of, that's for Saturday and Sunday and all of that, so we can push that
04:04off to later.
04:05So, keep it locked on my socials, at PrimetimeKlein, for all of those things, for all the updates.
04:13And everything like that.
04:14There may be a little more coming with me, again, I'm not going there full-time.
04:19It would take a lot for that to happen, to be perfectly honest.
04:22But I am going to be going back there, and there is a chance for a slight expansion of
04:27things, which would mean everything around here would have to change again.
04:29But, I mean, if you guys have been following me for a while, you know, it's always ever-changing.
04:34The second I set something in stone, something changes.
04:37So that's just kind of been the thing.
04:41Gino asking, those graphics are nasty, who made them, or are you a wizard?
04:47I don't know if you're talking about this, or with Game Over, with all the, everything
04:51couch potato is me.
04:53So to say I made these would be a bit of a stretch.
04:55I put my stuff into Canva templates, and am able to shoot them out.
05:01So that's what it is.
05:02All the Game Over graphics and stuff, it's been a team effort.
05:05Maude, Charlie, and Kaia has been doing a lot, and Andrew just does everything for everything.
05:11So I'm sure I missed someone in all of that.
05:12But let's get going now.
05:15Long explanation is over.
05:16Let's get into the football and break down every game from the National Football League.
05:26This time I made sure to write into my script, FANTASY, so that I keep skipping these games
05:32and having to go back and answer and all of those sorts of things.
05:37So, going to be running through every game on the NFL slate this upcoming week.
05:42And we begin very early, over in England, it is the Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the
05:48Chicago Bears.
05:49The Bears are favored by a point with the total sitting at 44 and a half.
05:54And one of those, yes, Dino, we will be talking about the 3-2 Denver Broncos.
05:58I saw that this week doing my power rankings, and could not believe it.
06:05That is an excellent statement on where the NFL is at this point right now.
06:10Gross.
06:11But anyway, the Bears favored by a point in this game, and a lot of the talk coming in
06:16is, oh well, basically home field advantage for Jacksonville, right?
06:20I know they're not the home team, but basically home field advantage.
06:25So why would anyone pick Chicago?
06:28Jacksonville, I believe the stat is they're 6-5 in these London games.
06:32So, I mean, that's better than their home record was in Jacksonville, a lot of times.
06:38But still, this is not a dominant home field advantage, whatever, whatever, whatever.
06:44They do know a few things, right?
06:45Like, you know, you know how to figure out the body clock, and you know how to adjust
06:48to all the times, and you know the places to go to eat, and you know the places to not
06:51go to eat, and all of those sorts of things.
06:54But when it comes down to the actual football, it hasn't really meant a whole lot.
06:57And so, I do not want to put a whole lot of weight into that when analyzing this football
07:03game.
07:04I more so want to look at what I think would happen if these two teams were playing at
07:09McMahon Stadium in Calgary, not necessarily whatever soccer stadium it's going to be at
07:13this time around.
07:14So, I still think that this is advantage Jacksonville.
07:17I think that their defense is just so good that it is, I assume this defense gives everyone
07:24problems.
07:25And I think if you guys have been watching this enough, you know that for Jacksonville,
07:30I do not view their offense as one that is matchup proof.
07:34Quite the opposite, actually.
07:37So I think that this is going to be a Chicago defense that gives Jacksonville a whole lot
07:42of issues.
07:43And then on the Chicago side of things, when they have the football, Jacksonville's defense
07:48right now is 32nd in defensive DVOA, which is a stat that measures efficiencies and things
07:53like that.
07:54So, I, while I'm still hesitant to put all of my chips into the middle on a Chicago offense,
08:07I do think that this week, you can trust them a little bit more because of, like, Joe Flacco
08:13ripped them a new one last week.
08:16And so part of the stats are going to be skewed because of how that game went.
08:20But I do think that you see that there is quite a few areas on the Colts that you can
08:25exploit.
08:26And Caleb Williams is getting better and better and better each week, and more and
08:29more comfortable each week.
08:32And so I think that you trust Chicago in this game.
08:34I'm going Bears minus one as a pick, and I'm going with the under at 44 and a half.
08:39And again, because there are certain rules on this platform about gambling and all of
08:43that stuff, these are just what I would do.
08:45I'm not telling you to do that.
08:48But yes, those are ones that I would pick, and the whole purpose of this segment is a
08:53pick per game.
08:54I've kind of gotten away from calling it that gimmick-wise because there are some Fridays
08:58that I just missed.
08:59But yes, we are going to, I do a pick per game, and then we'll keep track of how everything
09:04goes, and I will let you know on all of that.
09:07Before we get to our next game, Conrad in the chat, speaking of McMahon, have you heard
09:11if the new turf they're installing is FIFA approved?
09:14I have not heard that.
09:17I...
09:18Anything with McMahon, I assume, is barely approved by any health standard or anything
09:25like that.
09:26So to think that it would be a FIFA approved turf would be, I think, very optimistic.
09:32I think it would be sweet if they could do something like that and start to build that,
09:36because it's obvious.
09:37Conrad, you know, with the support around Cavalry FC, I think there is a significantly
09:43more of a footy following out here in Calgary than I think people would give this city credit
09:49for.
09:50And so I'm not saying like, oh yeah, no, just bring the national team here all the time.
09:55But I do think that there would be at least an appetite if you wanted to do something
09:59with them.
10:00Now the problem is, you have a stadium that holds twice as many people three hours from
10:03here, up in Edmonton.
10:05And so it would be, it's a tough argument to say, no, just do it here, because anyone
10:08who would come here can just go there, and the place holds more, and so you can make
10:12more money.
10:13It would be a bit of a tricky thing, but I would like for there to be a bit more of a
10:17focus on that sport here in Calgary, because it is something that is, I think, growing
10:23in a very significant way.
10:25Back to the other style of football.
10:28It is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the New Orleans Saints.
10:31Bucs favored by three and a half, the total in this game is at 41 and a half.
10:35And the entire analysis of this is I just cannot get behind trusting Spencer Rattler.
10:41Now, I will say, New Orleans' success for a lot of parts this season, I don't think
10:47has been because the quarterback is just awesome and dragging this team.
10:51You know, like the whole, um, move the sticks analogy that I like to use with Daniel Jeremiah
10:57and Bucky Brooks.
10:58By the way, just speaking this into the universe, Daniel Jeremiah, dream guest of mine, whether
11:03it be on here or on Sportsnet 960, that is a dude that I would just love to talk team
11:08building with for hours and hours and hours on end.
11:10But one of the things that they talked about is, are you a truck or are you a trailer?
11:14And Derek Carr has spent about 5% of his career being a truck, and then he got injured and
11:21went into trailer status for forever.
11:23So there isn't, and I think that is showing up in this number, um, there isn't, I think,
11:29a significant decrease if Derek Carr isn't the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.
11:34Although I will say, if Carr was playing in this game, I do think that the Saints are
11:37probably favored.
11:38Maybe there is a bit more of a shift number-wise than you would think, but, so I do think New
11:44Orleans can keep it close.
11:45And I do think that that defense is good enough that they are going to be able to keep it
11:49close.
11:50And Tampa Bay's defense, we've seen, a little leaky, a little leaky at times, right?
11:54So there is, I think, a few ways you can talk yourself into a New Orleans number.
12:00But I just can't get behind going with a rookie quarterback in this particular game.
12:06We have seen how much it takes rookie quarterbacks to get going.
12:11And so to go with Spencer Rattler here, with minimal reps and all of those things, I just
12:17can't get there.
12:18So we are going to go Tampa Bay minus 3.5, and we are going to go with the under at 41.5.
12:23And I am now realizing that I said I wrote fantasy in here so I wouldn't skip it, and
12:26then I skipped it on the very first one.
12:28So we will do the fantasy advice here for Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and then go back to
12:31Jacksonville, Chicago after.
12:33For this game, I think you have to trust your main starters for Tampa Bay.
12:38Evans is a start every week.
12:40Godwin has turned into a start every week.
12:43Rashad White, I would try to find a better option than him, but I would also understand
12:50if you can't.
12:52But this is not one that I think you roll with Bucky Irving or anything like that.
12:55Also, there isn't going to be a whole lot of tight end analysis in this game, or this
13:00week in fantasy in general, because that position is just weird magic that doesn't make any
13:06sense and is difficult to try to track and follow in any meaningful way.
13:10So it is tough to say, oh, well, no, it's this guy over this guy.
13:14You're trying to figure out which predominantly large white man is going to trip into the
13:19end zone with the football.
13:20That's basically what the tight end position has come down to in fantasy.
13:23So if you think it is one of the guys who you have, great.
13:27If you think it's a different person that is on the waiver wire, do that too.
13:32It's very difficult to find tight end analysis.
13:34If you have a specific tight end question, or any questions at all, ask me in the chat.
13:38But yeah, for now, I don't know, maybe, is the answer on all of them.
13:43For Tampa Bay, it's a no on Rattler, although if you wanted to, I didn't even look, if you
13:50wanted to put together a DraftKings lineup, let's just see real quick, what even is Spencer
13:58Rattler price-wise?
13:59No, I don't agree to marketing, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
14:03What even is this kid in Daily?
14:07Also, just for those who play DraftKings, let me know.
14:10I hate that the main option is just the main, basically the red zone slate, right?
14:20The 11 o'clock slot and the 2 o'clock slot, for those of us here in Mountain Time, 1 and
14:244, for those who actually follow it that way.
14:26I am always having to go to, okay, no, we're doing the Monday nighter and the Sunday nighter
14:30in there as well, because those are actual football games too.
14:33So, like, unless I have, if I go through and it's like, oh, I actually don't have anyone
14:37in either of these games, maybe I'll take a look at those, but I hate that the default
14:41option is to just exclude some of those games.
14:44I just, I have never understood it.
14:46Spencer right now is $4,000 as a quarterback, which is below everybody.
14:53Like Kenny Pickett is $4,700 and he is the backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.
15:01So that's, that's where we're at in terms of Spencer Rattler's price.
15:06So if you want a major discount at quarterback and think that he and Olave will team together
15:12for a great performance, then go for it.
15:15But I, otherwise I think it would be tough to trust Spencer Rattler this week.
15:19I do think that you have to kind of go with Olave and Kamara just because of how talented
15:24they are and just kind of hope for the best in that situation.
15:29But the rest of them, like, this is not a week that I am trusting Shahid.
15:32The other one, I know I just said no tight end analysis and now here we are, but maybe
15:37this is just anecdotal.
15:38I don't really have the statistical evidence to back it up, but I do feel like rookie quarterbacks
15:44trust their tight ends and it seems like there's no Taysom Hill in this game.
15:48So Juwan Johnson is, I think, someone who I, I do believe of that clumped together group
15:55of tight ends, he is one who like in the whole, like, it's like a cartoon where all the different
16:03things are piled up and it's these circles and it's just limbs or whatever.
16:06Juwan Johnson's head kind of just sticks out over the crowd in that big muddled mess
16:12of a cartoon ball that is the tight end spot in fantasy right now.
16:16So I think of those awful ones, you can trust him maybe a little bit more.
16:21Going back to Jacksonville against Chicago for fantasy advice.
16:26I would try to avoid most jags in this game.
16:30This is not a Trevor Lawrence game.
16:32I think this pass rush really disrupts things.
16:35So I would look for a different option other than Trevor Lawrence.
16:39You probably have to start ETN and I do think that he gets a little bit, but I don't even
16:44know if this is a Bigsby game necessarily.
16:47So I would maybe look to avoid that.
16:49Hey Deeds, how's it going?
16:51Thanks for popping in today.
16:53The only jag pass catching option I would consider would be Brian Thomas Jr. as he is
16:57turned into that type of a play every week.
17:00For Chicago, I think you give a few guys a look.
17:02Caleb Williams, I'm still not all the way there in trusting him to the point of suggesting
17:08that he's starting fantasy football yet.
17:10But it's an option if you have, I was going to say if you have Mahomes.
17:15If you have Mahomes, maybe you're looking for a different option.
17:17Anyway.
17:18Swift, I think you kind of trust and just kind of like, ew, wince a little bit because
17:23it hasn't looked great this year.
17:25For super deep leagues, and as we talked about last week, that would be 14, 16 team leagues
17:29and anything beyond.
17:30We had some sickos in 18 team leagues, how dare you?
17:33But I think you can go with Roshun Johnson and again just hope that he stumbles into
17:38the end zone.
17:39But I like the pass catching options and I like the town ends this week for Chicago.
17:43Moving on.
17:44At Lambeau Field, it is the Green Bay Packers taking on the Arizona Cardinals.
17:48The total is at 47.5 with the Packers favored by 5 points.
17:53I don't know if we will have a defensive stop in this game at all.
17:58I think that both teams' defenses have shown some weaknesses.
18:03The good thing for Green Bay is McKinney keeps getting interceptions every week.
18:07Last week they did limit the LA Rams offense, but it still wasn't as dominant as you would
18:12like it to be with the Rams having one good player on the offensive side.
18:17So I think that you can still kind of take from that that Green Bay's defense has some
18:23work that needs to be done.
18:26And Arizona's defense had a couple of weeks where, oh, maybe there's something, oh no,
18:30no it's not.
18:31No, no, no, there's just, there's not.
18:33The one thing you're hoping for on the Green Bay side is that Jordan Love kind of gets
18:37it back together.
18:38Because again, this offense probably shouldn't have had as many issues as they did against
18:43the LA Rams.
18:44And so I am assuming that it's going to get back on track.
18:47But it is the one thing that is keeping me from absolutely clicking on the Green Bay
18:51pick if you know what I mean.
18:53So we're going to avoid that one.
18:54I am also going to say, um, over 47 and a half.
18:58And so for the purposes of tracking for the pick per game thing, I am going to say Green
19:02Bay minus 5, but I am also going to put over at 47 and a half.
19:06From a fantasy standpoint, stardom if you got him in this one.
19:10I don't think either defense is any good.
19:13I think you can roll with both quarterbacks.
19:14I think you can run with Connor and Jacobs in this game.
19:17Even for the 14 and 16 teamers, Emmanuel Wilson could be an option.
19:22And all the wide receivers.
19:24Marvin Harrison is a must.
19:25Jaden Reid has turned into a must.
19:27But I think you can go with the secondary options.
19:28I do, as we've talked about, Michael Wilson is someone who has turned into a viable threat
19:34for the Arizona Cardinals in fantasy football.
19:37And I do think that Romeo Dubs' temper tantrum is going to help get him a little bit more.
19:44And I think you can trust the tight ends in this game.
19:46So yeah, smoke him if you got him in this Arizona-Green Bay matchup.
19:50On the opposite end of that, we go to Tennessee, where the Titans are taking on the Indianapolis
19:54Colts.
19:56The Titans favored by two and a half points, with a total of 42 and a half.
20:00My pick for this game is Tennessee minus two and a half, because I think they have just
20:05a couple more good players than Indy.
20:07Neither of these teams is playing very well right now.
20:11We have question marks around the quarterbacks at both teams.
20:14Will Levis gets hurt a couple of weeks ago, but they have the bye week.
20:18A lot of presumptions is that he is ready to go.
20:21And now, Anthony Richardson has been back at practice, and doing the damn thing there.
20:25Which, I don't think that helps or hinders this offense in any way, shape, or form.
20:30So, these are two teams that I don't really have a great grasp on.
20:34I continue to think that Tennessee should be better than they are, and I kind of continue
20:38to think that Indy should be worse than they are.
20:40And so, I am going to make a prediction based off of that, and go with Tennessee minus two
20:47and a half.
20:48But this is the furthest thing from a game that I'm going to be clicking on.
20:50From a fantasy standpoint, I don't want any of the quarterbacks.
20:53Even if Joe Flacco is in there, I don't really want it.
20:57For running back on Tennessee, Pollard's a start.
21:00He's worked his way into that.
21:01And TyJ Spears is getting a little bit more of the offense as the season goes along, so
21:05for the 14 and 16 teamers, you can go with that one as well.
21:10And honestly, because we have bye week situations and stuff like that, it might be a play you
21:13have to go with anyway.
21:15Calvin Ridley, again, is a flex consideration.
21:19I think you can trust him.
21:21Waiting for DeHop to break out.
21:22I'm wondering when Nuke Hopkins is going to have his moment here and start to get going
21:27with this offense, because he is way too talented to be as quiet as he has been so far this
21:32year.
21:33On the Colt side, it sounds like Jonathan Taylor is not practicing still.
21:37Sermon didn't look great last week, and the Titans, I have a perception of them that their
21:43defense is pretty good.
21:44Let's just see here real quick, what has Tennessee done against fantasy running backs
21:49this year?
21:50This is always tricky to do the research for me, because I'm in seven leagues, and a few
21:54of them have different scoring, but I know that I set up the Vampire one to have just
21:58as vanilla, or in this case, mayo in your coffee scoring as possible.
22:04So what have the Titans done against running backs this year?
22:08It has been, okay, well, they've given up the 20th most fantasy points to running backs
22:12this season.
22:13So Sermon isn't necessarily one that I think you have to rush out and start.
22:17There are, in most cases, if you got him, you kind of have to, but I wouldn't be rushing
22:22to it.
22:23And I think there's a good comparison in this game.
22:25Deeds saying Spears was a bye week grab for me.
22:30I think I might trust Spears more than I trust Sermon in this game.
22:34That's kind of where I have those guys at.
22:36Michael Pittman is an IR player now, so I think that Downs has a real opportunity to
22:42step up and show what he can do.
22:43We saw Pierce be the deep ball guy last week.
22:46That is a, if you're projected to lose, let's take a home run swing with this kid and see
22:50what he's got.
22:52But I think there are a couple of passing options in Indy, but basically everyone in
22:56this game, with the exception of probably Pollard, is flex consideration at best.
23:02Philadelphia taking on the Cleveland Browns.
23:04The Eagles favored by 9.5, with a total at 42.5.
23:08This is such a difficult one to look at, but I think this is the most intriguing game
23:13of the week.
23:14Because the Cleveland Browns have obviously quit.
23:16Like, it's just, it's done.
23:20They have packed it up and just enjoying the finer parts of being in Cleveland in autumn.
23:27Because they, offensively, if they make a play, odds are it's coming back because of
23:31a penalty.
23:32Defensively, they have talented players, but they're out on the field a whole lot because
23:35the offense can't do shit.
23:36And so they get worn down.
23:38And I think just emotionally this team is beat to hell.
23:42So I would have some concerns about everything on the Cleveland side.
23:47But for Philadelphia, it has not looked great this season.
23:51They have picked up wins, which have been nice, but it hasn't really looked as convincing
23:57as you would have hoped it would if you were, say, a podcast host who picked them to win
24:02the division and finish first in the conference.
24:05That really hasn't played out in the strong, convincing way that I would hope.
24:11Right now, they are a game and a half back of the commanders for first in this division,
24:15so not where we thought they would be.
24:17It looked really bad against Tampa Bay a couple of weeks ago.
24:22They did just enough to beat New Orleans.
24:25And it looked better than I think 15-12 would lead you to believe, but still not great.
24:29It didn't look great against Atlanta, and it looked okay at times against Green Bay,
24:34but that was a weird one with the turf being what it was.
24:36This needs to be a convincing win for the Philadelphia Eagles, and it just hasn't at
24:42any point this year.
24:44And so that is where I have kind of the trepidation that, like, it just feels like... it's one
24:51of the things we talked about, honestly, I know I've just bounced between three different
24:53thoughts.
24:54Hey, can you... can you tell that I kind of upped the vibe ounce today?
25:01But for the NFL this year, any time we have said, you know what, this needs to be a statement
25:08game for this team, it hasn't been.
25:11And there's such a trend with teams who are underdogs by more than five and a half points
25:15just winning straight up, that while it's difficult to trust the Cleveland Browns, I
25:20think you can at least put a bit of a sprinkle of hope, if you know what I mean, on the Browns
25:26as a bit of an underdog play here, because I just can't trust that Philadelphia is going
25:31to get it worked out.
25:32And so, against all better judgment, I am going Cleveland to plus nine and a half.
25:37But again, the furthest thing that I would be looking at in terms of making any type
25:44of a financial investment in anything in this game, Conrad going, die Eagles, die.
25:51Conrad, I don't know if we've talked about, who is your football team?
25:55You know what, we probably have, and I forgot, and I'm really sorry about that.
25:58I just kind of assumed because of San Diego ties, we were Chargers people, but I mean,
26:03because of San Diego ties, maybe we're not Chargers people, so, but we're obviously
26:07not, okay, we are Chargers people, okay.
26:09That is very aggressive against the Eagles then, but understanding, it's been frustrating
26:15so far this year.
26:17Ah, that's it.
26:19We got there.
26:20See, when in doubt, just assume that.
26:22So that checks out for sure.
26:24Also, sorry, I forget that I put these up on social media, or not on social media, I
26:29put these up on YouTube and in podcast form after, and the chat doesn't pop up in there,
26:33so they don't have a clue what we're talking about.
26:36Conrad says, die Eagles, die in the chat.
26:38I say, I thought you were a Chargers fan, he says I am, and then fuck Dean Spanos.
26:42So that is the second part of the phone call that you guys couldn't listen to when I was
26:47just rambling on there.
26:49From a fantasy standpoint, I know I just said that I don't think the Eagles get it done,
26:53but I do think that you have to trust your Eagles in fantasy this week.
26:58Jalen Hurts probably, you know, even though it hasn't looked all that good, where is Jalen
27:02Hurts?
27:03I don't know why I keep closing the fantasy thing on my, um, I keep closing the fantasy
27:08thing on my laptop.
27:09Well, I know why.
27:10It's because I'm constantly worried that we're going to be having those delay issues again,
27:14and so having more than two windows open at one time just feels like it would completely
27:18overwhelm anything that I am doing, which is, again, a great fear to have as a streamer.
27:25Pupsnap.
27:26Thanks, Juju.
27:27Man.
27:28Juju Smith-Schuster.
27:29Helping people out.
27:31That is, that is for sure.
27:33What a performance last week, and again, maybe go out and check and just see, where's, where's
27:37this guy sitting right now, waverwire-wise?
27:39Because I think that he's going to have a lot of options, or a lot of games like that,
27:43maybe not necessarily points-wise, but targets-wise and opportunity-wise, and I think that because
27:48there aren't a lot of buy, maybe a whole lot of people aren't necessarily picking him
27:51up.
27:52Jalen Hurts right now is, well, I guess it's weird to take a look at where they're ranking
27:58because we're into buy weeks and stuff like that, so he did miss a week, but right now
28:01he is very low on the quarterback list.
28:04I do think you have to kind of trust him this week.
28:06As Conrad says in the chat, the Browns are the, uh, the Browns are the Browns.
28:11Um.
28:12Oh, I think that was directed to the Browns are the Browns comment.
28:15That's fair.
28:16But still, gave me a chance to throw some Juju Smith-Schuster analysis in there, which
28:20we always like to take it.
28:22But for the, uh, for fantasy for this game, I do think that you kind of have to roll with
28:27Hurts and see, but because he has Brown and Smith back, we are assuming, I think that
28:32this offense does get back to what we think it is going to be.
28:36Saquon Barkley's always amazing, so you have to go with him, and from the tight end position,
28:40again, Dallas Goddard is better than most, so roll with it.
28:44For the Browns, I'm not sure who you're trusting in this matchup, to be perfectly honest with
28:49you.
28:50Jerome Ford, I'm still waiting for him to break out, I still think there's a talented
28:53running back in there, I just think the situation's really bad, also I don't know if I'm trusting
28:57the offensive line there a whole lot, but Ford is probably a flex option, but even like
29:02Amari Cooper at this point, there are probably some rosters that have Amari Cooper on there
29:07that have three better options than Amari Cooper because of how bad this offense is.
29:12Cooper is so good that if you want to throw him in there and hope that you take advantage
29:16against a Philadelphia secondary that has been taken advantage of, I have no problem
29:20with it, but I'm the furthest thing from suggesting that he is a must-start this week.
29:25On to Houston, against the New England Patriots.
29:32Texans favored by six and a half, the total is at 37 and a half.
29:35I, again, everything in me is saying, hey, do not trust going with Drake May in this
29:44spot because as we have talked about here, Drake May is obviously the better quarterback
29:49than Jacoby Brissette is, but this team is not set up to help a rookie quarterback thrive
29:55in the National Football League, and so for him to be getting his first real game snaps
30:00behind an offensive line that is leaky against a Houston pass rush that, while Houston's
30:07defense maybe has taken the slightest step back, the pass rush hasn't.
30:11And so I have real concerns about the safety of Drake May in this game.
30:16I think that they are going to be relentless in getting after him and really putting some
30:21pressure on Drake May.
30:23So I do feel like this is a tough spot that New England is putting this kid in.
30:31I do think that there is a concern, though, in Houston.
30:36The offense still hasn't really put it all together.
30:38They looked dominant against Buffalo.
30:41They looked like a team that scored more than 23 points when you just look at the game and
30:47how it was played, but it still hasn't really clicked.
30:51And the one thing New England can do, it's defend on not Thursday night games.
30:56And now, no Niko Collins in the lineup for the Houston Texans, and a New England defense
31:02that does a pretty good job of taking away the number one options on those teams, I do
31:07think that they are going to be a team that tries to take Stephon Diggs away, and if you
31:12can connect on with Takedell deep over the top, by all means go for it, but he is, we're
31:17not going to let Stephon Diggs beat us.
31:20If you're going to hit a couple of big shots, go for it, but that's going to have to be
31:23the way that you win this game.
31:24So I actually think, like, the under is THE play in this one.
31:28And honestly, I don't know why I didn't highlight this for myself before, but we are absolutely
31:32going to highlight that one there.
31:35Under 37.5, but I'm also going to say New England, plus 6.5.
31:38I think the Texans win, but I do think that it is close.
31:41From a fantasy standpoint, as talked about, CJ Stroud, he's the 10th ranked quarterback
31:45in fantasy right now, I would still see if I could have other options out there.
31:51For example, in the Vampire League, my wife, who is in 2nd place right now, is a team that
31:57has CJ Stroud, but also has Jared Goff.
32:02Rollin' with Jared Goff this week, in this matchup, so I think there are some quarterbacks
32:05out there that you can trust over a CJ Stroud.
32:08Deeds, excellently put in the chat, yes, optical blinking.
32:12Thank you for the chat, but we are all famous in here.
32:16We are an incredibly influential group in this chat, but thank you for that anyway.
32:23At the running back spot, if Joe Mixon is playing, I think you kind of have to play
32:26him, just because of how good he was in Week 1, but if it is Pierce or Akers or anyone
32:32like that, absolutely not.
32:34As I just discussed, I think New England is going to do a good job of limiting both wide
32:38receivers that you really focus on in Houston, so I don't know if I'm trusting anyone
32:45in this game on either side, really.
32:48I would do my best to not put Diggs out there, and Dell would be a, if you are desperate,
32:54sort of a play.
32:55On the New England side, it's the same as always.
32:58You are trusting no one, with the exception of Ramondre Stevenson, and even then you're
33:01hoping he doesn't fumble.
33:02Washington, taking on Baltimore.
33:04The Ravens favored by 7 points, with a total at 51.5.
33:08I think this game is going to be insanity.
33:10I think this game is going to be so much fun, and this is the game where I am going to take
33:17Washington seriously.
33:18I know we had the chat earlier in the week about, oh, well, who has Washington beat?
33:23And I countered with, who has anyone beat?
33:25Because no one's anyone in the NFL right now.
33:27The best team in the league, no one's taking seriously.
33:30And so if you're not doing that, who can we take seriously, really, in this league?
33:34And so, I think that this Washington team is legit.
33:39I do have worries about their defense, still, for sure, but I do think that this is going
33:44to be a team that is going to be able to put points up.
33:47And they're facing a Baltimore secondary that has been very vulnerable to passing attacks
33:53this season.
33:54And so I think this game turns into the shootout that everyone thinks it is going to be.
34:00Number 51 and a half is pretty high, given how the NFL has been going.
34:04But I think Washington is able to keep up with Baltimore.
34:07The one way that I think the Ravens win, and it's the thing that is keeping me from going
34:11the over on this game, I wonder if Baltimore tries to, to steal a basketball term, dribble
34:18the air out of the ball.
34:19I think they try to just kind of run some clock, run this game down, and try to slow
34:24it down and play it at a pace that Washington, I don't, I don't want to say they're not
34:29comfortable at.
34:30We just haven't seen them play at it, and we certainly haven't seen them thrive in it.
34:34So I think that this is going to be, that would be the game plan if it were me, if it's
34:39Baltimore.
34:40Although you can certainly understand if they want to take some shots against a defense
34:43that is lacking in the talent department, although they have been coached very, very
34:47well by Dan Quinn so far this year.
34:50But I think that the holes in the Baltimore secondary do leave them vulnerable.
34:54I'm taking a shot in this one.
34:56I'm going Washington money line.
34:58I'm going Washington to win this straight up.
35:00I'm not even suggesting.
35:03They're giving me seven points, I'm not going to take the points.
35:05I'm just going to go right at it.
35:07We're getting Washington to win this one.
35:08And from a fantasy standpoint, this one's easy.
35:11You're starting everybody.
35:12If they have B-A-L or W-S-H beside their name, throw them on in there.
35:18I'm trusting Hill.
35:19I'm trusting Isaiah Likely, sure.
35:22Ertz on Washington, get them on in there.
35:25Robinson, yes.
35:26Ekler, totally.
35:28All of them, throw it on in there.
35:31And let's give this one a whirl, because I think this game is going to be insane.
35:34Again, on the opposite end of that, Chargers taking on the Denver Broncos.
35:38The total in this game is 35 and a half, with the Chargers favored by three points in this
35:45game.
35:46Oh, Conrad, another 0 and 5, that's tough.
35:51I am 0 and 5 in one of my leagues as well, and it's a keeper league, so we have started
35:55the teardown.
35:57This is the Conrad v. Gino bowl in this chat right now, with the Chargers favored by three
36:02against the Broncos.
36:04Denver, I will say, I am not one who is really in a spot where I give credit to Denver a
36:12whole lot, based off of, you know, fandom.
36:15I would like to say that I'm not biased on this show, but I mean, come on.
36:19Come on.
36:20But as a Raider fan, yeah.
36:21I'm not really one who throws out a lot of confidence against Denver.
36:25But, they've looked better.
36:27They've looked better.
36:28I... and better than I expected, quite frankly.
36:31I bo-leave.
36:32Love the shoutout there, Gino.
36:34A little bit of Bo Dallas in there.
36:36Howdy, if you will.
36:37But I do think that Bo Nix is looking a little bit better and a little bit more comfortable
36:42in this offense already.
36:43And that gives you some pretty big optimism for Denver.
36:47And makes me, as someone who was very much a Bo Nix disbeliever, gives me a little bit
36:52of a, ooh.
36:53Ooh.
36:54It's starting to look like what it would look like if I was going to be wrong on that particular
36:58call.
36:59And, since a bit of a scare early on, Javonte Williams has also looked pretty good.
37:03But this defense continues to stand very strong.
37:05Now, as Conrad mentioned, they are a defense that is without their number one tackler now
37:10in Alex Singleton, who played a full game on one ACL, which, bravo to him.
37:17And, but also, that is why the ACL is already a, oh, well, he's walking off the field.
37:21So maybe it's not as bad.
37:23You can do that on an ACL for a bit, and then eventually, you know, kind of just fall apart.
37:29But you can do that for a bit.
37:30But still, nonetheless, very impressive.
37:32The one thing I will caution against, like, oh man, watch out for Denver.
37:36Here they come.
37:37Is that they have looked good against the Raiders, who everyone looks good against.
37:42I was going to say they looked good against the Jets.
37:44They didn't.
37:45They were just able to limit a very limited Jets team.
37:47And then, they looked legitimately good against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a defense that has
37:52proven to be a little bit leaky.
37:54And so I do think that maybe some of the reins need to be pulled in on these Broncos a little
37:58bit, and I think the Chargers are going to be the ones to do that.
38:01Conrad mentions in the chat, the quarterback has one ankle, and that is definitely a concern.
38:06You can go on one ACL, but one ankle, it's tough.
38:09It is concerning that every game he looks hobbled.
38:11And every game, it, there's going to be a moment where it's, okay, well, he's going
38:15off to the sideline, and that blue tent is getting propped up here again.
38:20But I just think that the Chargers have the edge still in this game.
38:24You obviously like the quarterback significantly better.
38:26I would still take a one-legged Justin Herbert over a Bo Nix almost any day of the week.
38:32And from a running back perspective, I do think that there is, like, J.K. Dobbins and
38:38Gus Edwards, while I do like Javante, I think that group has really been going.
38:43Pass catchers, it's a watch, but I think the Chargers are just a bit of a better version
38:47than what, of the Denver Broncos right now.
38:50And so, I am going to go Chargers minus three in this game.
38:53I do think the Chargers go out and get the job done.
38:56Also, I just like the Chargers coach a little bit better.
38:58But, again, credit to Denver for being better than I thought you were going to be at the
39:01start of this season.
39:03From a fantasy perspective, my first note was, do you even own anyone in this game?
39:07We are looking at the running backs here.
39:09Dobbins and Javante Williams are the only ones I would look at.
39:11All the other pass catching options, fine on the bench this week, even as we are into
39:16bye weeks.
39:17Alright, we're going to have to pick up the pace on this a little bit.
39:18Pittsburgh against the Raiders.
39:19It's a good one to pick up the pace on.
39:21Pittsburgh, minus three, total, thirty-six and a half.
39:23I'm going Steelers minus three.
39:25I don't think you need to analyze a whole lot of this game.
39:27The Raiders spent the better part of this week doing a quarterback competition, which,
39:31by design, means that they were splitting reps in practice, as they get ready for one
39:36of the best defenses in the NFL, which is utterly insane to me.
39:40The Raiders cannot run the ball.
39:41Their best wide receiving option doesn't want to be there, and thus isn't right now.
39:46And defensively, they just gave up thirty-eight points or whatever it was to the Denver Broncos,
39:51who as we discussed, improved, but not that improved.
39:54They also had Andy Dalton look very good against them, and we saw last week what good defenses
39:59do to Andy Dalton.
40:01Christian Wilkins is now on the IR.
40:04They have, like, two good players defensively, and about the same amount on offense.
40:09I do not see a world where the Raiders do anything in this game.
40:13Now.
40:14I have said that about the Raiders before, and then they somehow, someway, come up with
40:17a victory.
40:18I just don't think this is one of those games.
40:20I think Mike Tomlin is the type of coach that Antonio Pierce aspires to be, and I think
40:25Tomlin coaches circles around Pierce in this game.
40:28I think the Steelers win this one in a rout.
40:31Pittsburgh minus three is the play.
40:33From a fantasy standpoint, I think you can trust Justin Fields, the aforementioned Bownicks
40:37having a good game, and Andy Dalton having a good game.
40:40I think you can roll with Fields right now.
40:45With no Wilkins, you're trusting Najee Harris, and seeing what secondary back Pittsburgh
40:50throws out there, Jalen Warren limited in practice, and I think Cordero Patterson had
40:53an injury as well, but if either of those guys can go, I think you maybe take a look
40:57at it as well.
40:58And then Pickens in the wide receiver I think you can go with.
41:02The Raiders traditionally have been very bad against tight ends, but have actually been
41:06okay against them this year, so Friar Muth is maybe an option for you, but I'm sure you
41:12can find some other ones as well.
41:14On the Raiders side, the only players you even consider every week are Jacoby Myers
41:18and Brock Bowers.
41:20Atlanta taking on Carolina.
41:21The Falcons favored by six.
41:23The total is at 47 and a half.
41:26Under is I think a bit in play here, because I just don't think Carolina is going to hold
41:30up their end of the bargain on this.
41:32I think that we saw last week that while Carolina's offense got better with Andy Dalton, it's
41:38I think maybe a little bit more that they played the Bengals and the Raiders than it
41:42was that Andy Dalton was this great defense, which then led us down the conspiracy theory
41:46of oh, they didn't want Bryce Young to look good against two lesser defenses, so they
41:51just stuck him out there against two good defenses, and oh well, it's obviously not
41:54going to work.
41:55Let's go to Andy Dalton now.
41:56Um.
41:57A little bit of throwing him to the wolves in that.
42:00Like, this is.
42:01There isn't a whole lot of analysis in this game.
42:02Atlanta is getting better.
42:04Carolina is still bad.
42:06The Falcons are significantly better.
42:07We're going Falcons minus six.
42:09From a fantasy standpoint, you're starting your Falcons.
42:12I.
42:13Like, Mooney, London, Pitts, Robinson, probably even Algier, I'm rolling with all of those
42:18guys.
42:19And on the Carolina side, I think you have better options than Andy Dalton.
42:23At quarterback, I would hope you would.
42:25And you do go with Chuba.
42:26Chuba Hubbard has been on fire, fantasy-wise.
42:29And Deontay Johnson has looked better with Andy Dalton in this offense, so I think those
42:33are two guys you can trust.
42:34But that's basically it.
42:36The game that everyone's excited about this Sunday is the Detroit Lions taking on the
42:40Dallas Cowboys.
42:41Detroit favored by three.
42:42The total is at 52 and a half.
42:45Boy, it's nice to have a couple of games in the 50s this week.
42:47I know we have a couple in the 30s, which, like, three years ago, you would have never
42:51thought possible.
42:52But here we are.
42:54But this one, I think, does have shootout written all over it.
42:57We kind of mentioned last week that we were worried about Dallas and their banged-up defense,
43:02and then they were able to somewhat limit the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 20-17 win on
43:07Sunday Night Football.
43:09I do think that Detroit is a little bit better to exploit that.
43:14And we saw them get back on track this week against Seattle on Monday night.
43:18I think they continue that momentum here.
43:21And while Detroit's defense is still one I have some concerns with, I think they're able
43:24to just outscore any of their problems against the Cowboys.
43:28So give me the Lions, minus three, in this spot.
43:32As again, I think they're just kind of a better version of what the Cowboys are putting out
43:36there right now.
43:37From fantasy, you're starting your Lions.
43:39Goff is a play this week.
43:40Jamison Williams, Amon Ross, St. Brown, yes.
43:43Both running backs, of course.
43:44Sam Laporta, uh-huh.
43:46All of them.
43:47You're going with it.
43:48For Dallas, I think you can trust Dak this week.
43:50Detroit gives up some points through the air.
43:52Rico Doudle is the running back you want in Dallas.
43:55And we saw last week, Kenneth Walker had a real big game against Detroit, so there could
43:59be something there for Rico Doudle.
44:01CeeDee Lamb is in every week.
44:03And I do think that Jalen Tolbert, getting all those targets last week, that continues
44:07this week.
44:08And I think he is a play as well.
44:10We'll be waiting all day for Sunday night.
44:12And this is, this is what I call a brownie points Sunday nighter.
44:17Um, and it's a little, I don't want to say frustrating for me.
44:20But we are, in our household, it's Canadian Thanksgiving.
44:24We are doing Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday.
44:27But who we are doing with, they still have to work on Monday.
44:32And quite early.
44:33Because they're both shift workers.
44:34And so we have said, we gotta be done by seven so they can go to bed.
44:38So the only football I will be able to watch on Sunday is this fucking thing.
44:42Between the Bengals and the Giants.
44:44But if you have a significant other in your life who is not necessarily in the football
44:50watching mode, this is a big one where, you know what?
44:56I get.
44:57Like, we've been watching football all day.
44:59And Sunday night football, it is, like they, they have set it up.
45:03It's prime time.
45:04It's when the best matchups go.
45:05But you know what?
45:07Tonight's about us.
45:08Let's just, let's, you want to watch a movie?
45:10You want to go for a walk?
45:11You want to go out and, here in Southern Alberta, inexplicably, see the Northern Lights everywhere?
45:17You want to, you want to just go do that?
45:18We don't need to watch this one tonight.
45:19This is, I've watched too much football lately.
45:22It's time for me and you time.
45:24This is, this is that game.
45:25This is a brownie points game.
45:26Because it's the Bengals and the goddamn Giants on Sunday night football for no good reason.
45:30Bengals are favored by four.
45:31The total's at 47 and a half.
45:34The Bengals defense has given me major, major, major worries.
45:38And I, this line feels like a trap.
45:43Because there is no way the Giants have played well enough to be within four points of Cincinnati.
45:50And I guess they looked good last week against Seattle, so maybe that is kind of dragging
45:54this line a little bit closer than it should be.
45:56But you look at both rosters, and there's just, there's no way that I am trusting the
46:01Giants in this spot.
46:02And so when you see it's only minus four, it's like, ugh, ugh, they're telling me I'm
46:06missing something.
46:07What am I missing?
46:08Because you look at, like, Cincinnati, they're going to want to attack through the air against
46:12the New York Giants.
46:13I mean, against everyone, right?
46:15And I think the Giants are not really equipped to handle a Chase, a Higgins, and all of those
46:21guys.
46:22So I think they're going to be able to have success.
46:23Now, the one thing on the Giants' side is I think Brian Dayball scheming against this
46:27defense that doesn't look like it can stop anything is actually, you know, quite the
46:33sign and quite the thing to look at.
46:35But the Giants have Malik Nabors on the IR right now, or not on the IR, sorry, but he's
46:38not practicing.
46:39And so I have major concerns about what this offense is going to look like.
46:43And the Giants, yes, they look good against the Seahawks, but they needed a blocked field
46:49goal at the end to seal that game away.
46:51If the Seahawks hit that and then go in in overtime, this line is probably like Bengals
46:55minus six, Bengals minus seven.
46:57So I think we're getting a value here.
46:58I am going to go Cincinnati minus four, but it's not what I'm clicking on because I am
47:02worried about Dayball against this defense.
47:04From a fantasy standpoint, you're starting your Bengals.
47:06And I think you can even trust in the run game Moss and probably Chase Brown as well.
47:12For the Giants, with Nabors still not practicing, I do think you can go with Wandale Robinson.
47:17And honestly, Daniel Jones is a boy, if you're desperate, you can roll with this one and
47:22just go with it.
47:23Because I think that there will be some points to be had against this defense.
47:28But in terms of the rest for fantasy, it's tough because it's Sunday night, Singletary
47:32is limited.
47:33So I think in deeper leagues, you can still give it a shot with Tyrone Tracy in like 14-16
47:38team leagues, but you may want to avoid that one, maybe a little bit more and try to find
47:43someone else.
47:44And then we go to Monday night.
47:45It's Buffalo taking on the Jets.
47:47The bills are favored by two and a half.
47:49The total is at 40 and a half.
47:51I know that the new coach bump has been a thing in the NFL lately in that first game.
47:56But a lot of times that is when you are going from a coach that people don't like to a coach
48:00that people do like.
48:02You know, like the Raiders got a bump going from Josh McDaniels to Antonio Pearce.
48:08I felt happier when that move happened.
48:10And he wasn't even my coach, he was a coach on my team, but still, like, that was much
48:15more vibes based.
48:18This one, it feels like the vibes are off.
48:20Like it feels like, oh well Aaron Rodgers definitely had a say in it.
48:22Aaron Rodgers was like, no, I was as blindsided as everybody else.
48:25This is a coach that a lot of people liked, and a coach on the side of the football that
48:28was actually playing well.
48:30Now there's talk about, okay, well this guy is going to be in charge of play calling and
48:33all of these sorts of things.
48:35And so yes, maybe you feel a little bit better that, well the play calling is going to be
48:39better if it's not Nathaniel Hackett running it.
48:41But we still have, they made these changes like Tuesday and Wednesday.
48:44I get you have an extra day because it's Monday night football, but still, that is a quick
48:48turnaround to implement a whole lot of changes.
48:51Doing it against Buffalo does make you feel a little bit better because this defense isn't
48:54good.
48:56But it just feels so tire-fiery out in New York right now that I have to go with the
49:01Bills in this game.
49:02I think Josh Allen gets right.
49:03I think that James Cook is going to be able to run on this Jets team similar to the way
49:09that Minnesota was able to run before Aaron Jones got hurt in that game out in England.
49:14So I think James Cook, that we're going to go old school with this Buffalo offense and
49:17Sean McDermott is going to love it because they're going to run the ball like 50 times
49:21in this game.
49:22But I think James Cook is definitely a guy that you can look at.
49:25Shakir's not practicing, so I don't love any of the pass-catching options from a fantasy
49:29standpoint for Buffalo.
49:32You have to start Allen every week.
49:34He is your quarterback, right?
49:36I do think that Aaron Rodgers is an okay option fantasy-wise this week, given the Buffalo
49:41secondary thing, but we just talked about why I'm maybe a little hesitant on that one.
49:46And I think you have to trust Brees Hall and Garrett Wilson.
49:49Wilson does finally show up, you're hoping that Brees can as well in a matchup that maybe
49:54feels like a bit of a plus one for them.
49:56So those are my picks and my predictions for every game in the NFL this week.
50:03Let's close the show with a little bit of CFL talk, shall we?
50:17So unlike the NFL, there's going to be no point spread picks in this one.
50:21If you want what I think are the best plays for that, check out the Best Bets article
50:27over at 3downnation right now.
50:29Article?
50:30Piece?
50:31I never really know what to call it.
50:32Calling anything I do a piece feels very, um, incorrect.
50:38It feels very much like I'm trying to be something that I am not.
50:42And I'm not just like looking at stats and hammering out a piece after I do trivia on
50:46a Wednesday night.
50:47But I just linked it in the chat for those of you who are watching live.
50:52That is the 3down piece with my best bets picks for this week in the CFL.
50:57We've actually done pretty well.
50:58We went perfect last week with a nice little 3-0 mark.
51:03And we are actually 6-3 in the last three weeks.
51:07So that's how it's going.
51:09But quickly on the CFL, we'll just break these games down a little bit.
51:12Winnipeg is looking like a complete football team.
51:14And it still didn't look perfect in the first half last week against Hamilton.
51:18But boy did it look better in the second half.
51:21And the one thing that I think that you can really buy into from a Winnipeg standpoint
51:25right now is how well that defense is playing.
51:29They have been giving up an average of 190 yards through the air in the last three weeks
51:34since the two wild games against Saskatchewan.
51:38They have done a really good job of limiting teams.
51:40Now, that's Edmonton twice and Hamilton once.
51:43So I can understand that maybe there is a bit of a hesitance to like, okay, maybe we're
51:47not taking this team super seriously.
51:48But again, that was Edmonton on their real good run, getting close to a playoff spot,
51:55and Hamilton kind of the same.
51:57Hamilton was on a roll, and then Winnipeg just shut that down last week.
52:01So I think that defense is going to be good enough to limit things for Toronto.
52:04The one thing that gave me the slightest bit of pause on this game is Toronto's defense
52:09has been really good against the run.
52:12Winnipeg still sets up so much of their offense around Brady Oliveira and really tries to
52:17get him going and establishes him as a guy that is the focal point of their offense.
52:23Now, they've done a good job, like against Saskatchewan, the Riders were able to bottle
52:27him up in the run game, but he was able to go out and get it done in the pass game.
52:31And so they have still been able to use him in ways that gets him going and puts them
52:36in favorable situations on second down.
52:38So I think they're going to be able to scheme that up again.
52:40I'm going to go Winnipeg in this game.
52:43Saskatchewan taking on the BC Lions.
52:45If the Lions were playing a style of football that I felt confident in, I would go with
52:51the Lions here.
52:52As Saskatchewan, they do have the three wins in a row.
52:55There's still something missing offensively, but they are at least getting there.
52:59But this defense, they've gotten healthy, and now they're excellent again, and really
53:04putting pressure on quarterbacks and forcing some very bad decisions.
53:08So it's going to be a really intriguing matchup to see how that one goes.
53:13And I do also think a big part of what Saskatchewan is able to do is their run defense is, I think
53:18it's second best in the league right now.
53:21And that one you can kind of quibble on a little bit, just because Toronto has allowed
53:26the fewest rush yards in the league and fewest yards per game, but teams are also running
53:31on them the least amount.
53:33And part of that is, well, it's not working, so why would we keep doing it?
53:36But also, you know, it's just game flow, right?
53:39And how different games go.
53:40So Saskatchewan still has one of the best, one of the best, we'll say, run defenses in
53:45the league.
53:46And if they can limit Stanback, which they've been able to do this year, if they can limit
53:50him and force Rorik into those 2nd and 8th, 2nd and 9th type of situations, those are
53:55the spots where this defense has been able to take advantage of teams and really force
54:01them into turnovers and force them into mistakes.
54:05And so that's where I think Saskatchewan thrives.
54:07And also, I think it's going to be a bit of a quieter game for Stanback.
54:12So we will see.
54:13But the thing that I always tell you to watch on the rider's side is make sure that you
54:18see how this team is calling plays and how they are executing.
54:21If they are able to, because so many times it's just run on 1st down, Harris pass for
54:25the rest on 2nd down.
54:26If it is either Armstead, Ouellette, Hickson, whoever it is in that backfield, if they're
54:32able to get 4, 5, 6 yards on 1st down, this offense runs so much smoother than when it's
54:40the other way and teams have figured it out and now Harris, who is so good at throwing
54:44for 6 yards when you need 8 on 2nd down.
54:47We'll see how that goes, but I do think Saskatchewan, home field advantage and all
54:51that as well get the win and they pick up a victory over BC.
54:55Edmonton taking on Calgary, both of these teams aren't very good.
54:59I do think that the Stampeders are just worse right now and so that is the main piece of
55:05the analysis is that I think the Stampeders are a worse football team than the Edmonton
55:09Elks and so I have to pick Edmonton.
55:11But also, Calgary's run defense is one of the worst in the league and the Elks, with
55:15Trey Ford in there, they have turned him a bit more into just a passer this year, but
55:21they have been able to run the ball so effectively in games where he has played because so much
55:25of the focus is on what Trey Ford is going to do and teams just forget that others can
55:30run the football.
55:31There's a few more stats for that in the 3-down piece there if you want to check that
55:37one out, but yes, I just think that Edmonton's strengths match up with Calgary's weaknesses
55:44so effectively.
55:46The one stat that is a little bit skewed in this, and I don't believe I put it in the
55:483-down piece, but you look at the turnover differential and you think that, okay, well
55:54these two teams, like, they really don't match up.
55:56And the one thing is that, and now, the numbers are skewed because of their matchups together,
56:01so that is the counterpoint to it, but Edmonton's turnover differential is boosted by the fact
56:09that they got 9 against Calgary in those two games around Labor Day, so this isn't the
56:13ball hawking defense that those stats would lead you to believe, and I have no idea what
56:17the offense looks like with Schill's under center for Calgary, but I just, I think he's
56:21going to have to score a lot of points to keep up with what Edmonton is going to be
56:24able to do.
56:25And on Thanksgiving Monday, it is Montreal taking on the Ottawa Red Blacks, Ottawa has
56:30been just dominated by Montreal's defense this year, I think that the looks that they
56:35show have just completely thrown this offense off, and whether it is Brown or Massoli under
56:40center, turnovers have been a big problem for the Red Blacks, I think that continues
56:44here.
56:45I think Montreal picks up the dub.
56:47Alright, that is going to do it for Football Friday, so again, check me out on Sportsnet
56:51at 9.60, coming up at 1 o'clock, you can, you know, I don't know what we're going to
56:58talk about yet, but it's going to be fun, and I'm looking forward to it, and then after
57:02that is done, I have a couple errands I have to run, and then I will make my way back home,
57:06so around 4 or 4.30, you can expect a Football Friday from me, and we will get that going
57:12here on Twitch.tv slash PrimetimePK.
57:15So the schedule changing a little bit, also, they've been very inconsistent anyway, so
57:20this isn't a gigantic thing, but the team-specific podcasts that I had started on here are going
57:25to go away, it was a bit more time-consuming, and also, as Conrad, you know, I'm back on
57:30Game Over, so a Flames podcast here doesn't make a whole lot of sense for me, so I would
57:36not, I wouldn't be doing that anyway, and it just, it was too much of a time commitment,
57:40so the ColoradoCast, Dinomite, the Let's Raid, and the Rider Happy Hour, all mothballed for
57:48now, and that's going to be that.
57:49But yes, in the meantime, check out everything I'm doing.
57:52Follow me on social media here, make sure you follow at PrimetimePK for all the updates
57:57on everything that we got going on here with Twitch, there's going to be a little bit more
58:01kick content coming up as well, PrimetimeKlein, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, make sure
58:06you go over and subscribe to Game Over Calgary for Flames news, not just from me, but from
58:12a lot of great sources.
58:13I'm Conrad, doing an awesome work with the Game On yesterday, I don't know who is doing
58:18it today, or if there is one today, but we will be rocking with that, and it is post-game
58:23coverage after every game, so make sure you check that out, I will put that here in the
58:30chat, oh, no, wrong one, oh wait, maybe that'll work anyway, ah, nope, didn't work.
58:36I don't know why my OBS doesn't let me put it in the chat from here, but there we go.
58:42Yes, as Deeds is saying, have a great Thanksgiving, everyone, Conrad's scripting the Game On right
58:47now, so check that out on the Game Over Calgary YouTube channel, later, Toxic, talk to you
58:52guys a little bit later on this afternoon, have a great rest of your day, everybody.
