00:0014th of February, 1913.
00:05Yesterday, the appreciable and intelligent young man, Edgar J. Anzola, arrived in this city.
00:11This young man made a car trip from Caracas to La Victoria.
00:16Salve o progreso!
00:18When I was little, it was simply my father, whom I loved very much.
00:24Later, I began to discover that behind my father, there was something strange.
00:29A story.
00:37In 1911, at the Hippodrome del Paraíso,
00:40the repugnant Edgar J. Anzola organized a race of cyclists
00:45with shabby results.
00:48Anzol and Pepito Pichín were the winners, but...
00:51In 1912, Fran Boland and Charles Hoflich flew for the first time over the sky of Caracas.
00:58And the young Anzola, with his mechanical knowledge,
01:01participated in the assembly of the plane at the Hippodrome del Paraíso.
01:07The phonographer had already reached his old age,
01:10and the press spoke proudly when we presented the new orthophonics.
01:14After thinking a lot, we decided on a task that seemed impossible,
01:18and we brought some technicians and equipment from the United States,
01:21and we turned the studio into a pension to record the first records in Venezuela.
01:26And on December 11, 1930, we inaugurated Broadcasting Caracas.
01:36Broadcasting Caracas speaks to the nation.
01:39The mystery of the eyes.
01:42Escarlat.
01:44Miguel! Be careful, Miguel! He's armed!
01:49There is no danger now!
01:52I was not a hero of the war, but I was a hero.
02:15It was my friendship with Armando that inspired me to make this film.
02:19In addition to my admiration for the artist, who was an extraordinary character.
02:24When we made this film, I must say frankly,
02:27that the director was himself.
02:30He insisted on how the shots should be made and how to act.
02:34And the result could not have been more interesting.
02:38How much time has passed, and the memory of Armando
02:43and Juanita continues to live in me.
02:51Well, I was lucky that I had the opportunity to take part
02:55in the introduction to Venezuela of many of the modern inventions.
02:59It has been a great luck because I have had experiences that for me have been,
03:03well, very valuable and many very curious.
03:07And of all these walks, I have made formidable friends.
03:12Thank you very much.
