00:10Fans are jumping to Anne Hathaway's defense after the actress apologized to a journalist

00:15for appearing dismissive during a video interview back in 2012.

00:20Entertainment journalist Kirstie Floss shared the interview on her YouTube channel late

00:23last week.

00:25As she reflected on what she described as a top-notch cringe moment from her career.

00:29Floss explained in the YouTube video that she was in the process of interviewing members

00:33of the Les Miserables cast when she decided to test out an idea that involved singing

00:39questions to the actors and requesting that they sing their responses.

00:43As seen in the 2012 clip Floss included in her YouTube video and shared separately on

00:48TikTok.

00:49The Princess Diaries star declined to sing her answers when Floss suggested it.

00:54Despite Hathaway's reaction, Floss sang her first question and received a one-word answer.

00:59Floss didn't sing for her next question, but Hathaway still gave a single-word response.

01:05She was just being, like, so dismissive of me, Floss reflected in her YouTube video,

01:10which she posted online on Saturday, Oct. 5.

01:14She hated me, let's face it, she really hated me.

01:18And she didn't like that idea at all, either.

01:20That was pretty obvious.

01:22On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Floss took to her Instagram account to announce that she'd recently received

01:29an emailed apology from Hathaway for the 12-year-old interview.

01:33Floss, who said she was pretty shocked by the message, said Hathaway sent her a long

01:37email explaining to me what she was going through when she did this interview, and she

01:42apologized for by-giving me an awful interview, basically.

01:46Hathaway also extended an invitation for Floss to conduct a new interview ahead of her next

01:50movie, the journalist noted.

01:53As the 2012 clip and Floss' video about Hathaway's apology spread online, fans defended Hathaway

01:59while criticizing Floss over the summer also.

02:02Called out Blake Lively for a years-old interview Floss said made her want to quit my job.

02:07I don't condone being rude to interviewers, but she's really bad, one person wrote on
