00:00Artificial intelligence-driven smart technology is rapidly transforming the world, offering
00:08boundless possibilities.
00:10Embedded in billions of Internet of Things devices, from smartphones to medical equipment,
00:16AI is boosting productivity and enhancing decision-making across various industries.
00:22While it has the power to revolutionise innovation, AI also presents risks such as scamming, data
00:28theft and copyright infringement when misused.
00:32Love it or hate it, AI is advancing faster than anticipated, raising concerns about privacy,
00:38public safety and security.
00:40To address these challenges, the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry has introduced
00:45the AI Governance and Ethics Framework, which provides users, policymakers and developers
00:51a guideline for AI-based technology.
00:54The AIGE framework emphasises responsible AI principles, such as AI for social good,
01:01building trust in AI and the global-local approach, in line with the National Artificial
01:06Intelligence Roadmap 2021-2025.
01:10Although the framework is a proactive step, developing a common legislation remains a
01:15challenge due to AI's diverse capabilities.
01:19With the right governance, however, AI has the potential to create a sustainable future,
01:24giving Malaysia a competitive edge and opportunities to shine on the global stage.
