A new report has revealed the devastating number of women who are dying prematurely of lung disease in one part of Merseyside. Lung cancer deaths are particularly high in females and Knowsley has the second highest rate of premature lung cancer deaths in women for the whole country.

00:27Despite a reduction in the number of people smoking, rates in Knowsley are still among
00:31the highest in the country.

00:41The local authority have already introduced a series of measures to try and tackle the
00:44problem of lung disease.
00:46Earlier this year, Knowsley Council approved their Air Quality Strategy which will monitor
00:50the levels of pollution in the air, aiming to reduce carbon emissions in the borough.
00:55They are also hoping to eradicate smoking in the borough by 2030.
