00:009-1-1, what's your emergency?
00:07He was laying on the floor.
00:14He was laying on the floor.
00:16He was shot in the head.
00:19I was very scared.
00:21I'm sure everybody in the neighborhood was scared.
00:25The video was what broke the case.
00:28Two individuals arriving at the back door that caught our attention.
00:33You see the male individual bum rush or run towards whoever had opened the door.
00:39Now they're murderers.
00:41Now the stakes are much more higher for them.
00:44Why did it happen?
00:46I don't know if we ever would have solved it without the CCTV.
00:58Food's ready, come and get it.
01:1871-year-old Jack Davis is busy preparing one of his famous roasts for his neighbors.
01:24One thing that he really loved to do was cook.
01:28And every Sunday, he would cook up a whole lot of meats.
01:33Hi, Jack, something smells good.
01:38Nobody would go hungry because he always would give food.
01:43He loved doing stuff in the community with helping other people.
01:51He felt that the people in the neighborhood was family.
01:55Sometimes, especially in the summertime, you would see him coming and going in his RV.
02:01I know he loved having it and loved going out and coming back.
02:04Jack recently sold his RV for $100,000.
02:08The cash lump sum will boost his finances as he slows down during his twilight years.
02:15Here comes trouble.
02:16What's cooking, Jack?
02:20First of all, he was a school teacher.
02:22And then he was a bailiff at the courthouse.
02:25And he did part-time work at the hospital as a security guard.
02:30Got any chicken left for me?
02:32Our community is pretty much close-knit.
02:35On the most part, everybody in our neighborhood know each other by name.
02:40We associate a lot and everything together than just hanging out, laughing and carrying on.
02:46So he was like a big brother to me.
02:50That Sunday, we talked, you know, just randomly talked for a few minutes.
02:54And I got the meats, and then I went on home.
03:14Shortly after 11 p.m. on July 9, 2015,
03:17the 911 center received a phone call from Marcy Lynn Rouse requesting law enforcement.
03:23She had advised that her neighbor, Jack Davis Jr., had been shot.
03:27She said she went to the house.
03:29And when she went in, he was laying on the floor.
03:32He was laying on the floor.
03:34Blood.
03:35He'd been shot in the head.
03:36He looked like he'd been shot in the head.
03:38It's okay.
03:44In the background was the girlfriend of Jack Davis Jr.,
03:48who also was the one who found Mr. Jack Davis when she arrived at his residence.
03:53And she was somewhat distraught and kind of screaming in the background.
04:05It was initially thought it was either a suicide or a home invasion.
04:12When officers arrive on scene, they walk around to the back of the residence
04:17where there's an entrance to an enclosed garage area that had been turned into a den.
04:22They noticed Jack lying on the floor, and there was blood pooled about his head.
04:27There was canes, a firearm, all sorts of things scattered around.
04:34At the time, they believed that he had shot himself
04:36with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the mouth or to the head.
04:43They realized that the victim was still breathing, still alive.
04:48As Jack Davis is rushed to the hospital in critical condition,
04:52Detective Brock arrives on scene to speak with the neighbor who called 911.
04:57Marcy Rouse said that she had gone over sometime midday to Jack Davis' residence.
05:02I asked her about his state of mind.
05:05We had a barbecue earlier today. Everything was fine.
05:08There was no problems. He was in good humor.
05:12There was nothing different.
05:14I never thought suicide attempt because that's just not the person that I knew of Jack to be.
05:25And I was gone all day, but it was dark when I came home.
05:28And I was in my bedroom in the back of my house.
05:32It sounded like a child screaming and crying.
05:36So I went to my front door, and it was this lady,
05:41and it was this lady running across the street to my house.
05:47And it happened to be the girlfriend.
05:50And she was asking me, I'm sorry,
05:54she was asking me to call 911.
05:57Because something had happened to Jack.
06:02And so that's when I called 911.
06:06How is Jack? Is he going to make it?
06:08EMS are working on him right now.
06:11I was very scared.
06:13I'm sure everybody in the street, on the neighborhood was scared because we didn't know what had happened.
06:20I don't know who would do this to Jack.
06:23At 3 a.m., Marcy's son Douglas arrives on scene and notices that something is missing from Jack's property.
06:31After I interviewed Marcy Rouse, her son arrived.
06:35He advised that Jack Davis' truck was no longer there.
06:39Talking to Marcy Rouse and her son, one of the things that they did say was the fact that nobody else should have the truck.
06:48One of the first questions is, who has Mr. Jack Davis' truck, and where is it at?
06:55We put a bolo or be on the lookout for Jack Davis' truck.
07:03Detectives searched the house for the weapon that inflicted the wounds to Jack.
07:07We checked the firearms on scene, and the firearm in question was a long rifle, a .22 caliber long rifle that has a tube that holds 10 bullets and also an initial bullet in the chamber.
07:19And all 11 bullets were inside of the firearm, and it was clean. It had no evidence of blood or anything of that nature.
07:26So we pretty much casted out the doubt that there was any self-inflicted gunshot wound, at least with that firearm.
07:34They go through the residence, and in some areas of the house, everything was tidy and neat.
07:40They would get to another room where everything had been dumped out of the drawers. The bed has been looked under.
07:47The truck was missing. The residence appeared to be somewhat kind of ransacked. There was a possible struggle.
07:54At this point, we're appearing to change our position to maybe it was a home invasion like that, that may indicate something other than a suicide.
08:04Detectives head outside to look for video surveillance cameras.
08:08We come to find out Jack had a camera facing the back door where we had entered in.
08:14He also had a camera that pointed out toward the backyard that showed a shop in the backyard, the driveway.
08:21Where the pickup truck was supposed to have been parked.
08:24We need to find the DVR for that.
08:26Sure thing.
08:27These two angles that we had would show who had entered and who had left Mr. Jack Davis' residence.
08:33It also would show possibly who took the truck, when the last person was at the residence, what time the truck left.
08:42We observed that Jack Davis, in the den area, had a surveillance monitor.
08:47It showed the cameras on the exterior of the residence.
08:50This is a live feed. Find out if the system recorded any footage from lunchtime onward.
08:55On it.
08:56When I look over to the DVR, I see a light blinking that showed that it was actually recording.
09:04The detectives take the surveillance footage to the police department for review.
09:09We knew that the camera system, if it was working properly, would have valuable information.
09:13As to who had been at the residence, some details of what had happened during the day.
09:26Looks like it's working.
09:31We started the footage from earlier that day.
09:35We knew that he had started cooking around lunchtime.
09:38The cookout is over by 1.45 p.m., and the camera captures no activity around the back door for over six hours.
09:46Throughout the day, with the cookout, there were people there. After they left, nobody came by.
09:52It didn't appear to be nothing out of the norm.
09:58Detectives watch the footage up to 8.20 p.m.
10:02Detectives watch the footage up to 8.20 p.m.
10:20It wasn't until later on that evening when we observed two individuals arriving at the back door that caught our attention.
10:32Detectives watch the footage up to 8.20 p.m.
10:35As we're looking at the camera, video surveillance system, approximately 8.21 p.m., we observe a male and a female coming around the corner of the residence.
10:47Who are these guys?
10:50They walk to the back door of Mr. Jack Davis' residence, and the male knocks on the door.
10:54The female stood behind the male, and then we could tell what we believed to be Jack Davis coming to the door and opening the door and answering the door.
11:05When we first saw that video, it appeared that he was a taller male, kind of bigger, stocky.
11:16Zoom in on the female.
11:18Zoom in on the female.
11:21The female appeared to have maybe a ponytail.
11:41Play that again.
11:47You see the male individual bum rush or run towards whoever had opened the door, which is who we believe was Jack at the time.
11:56And then you see the female walk in shortly after and close the door.
12:04We continue watching the video to see if they come out. Does Mr. Jack Davis come out with them? Does anybody else arrive?
12:18Okay, who's this guy?
12:21Approximately 8.24, the door appears to be open. At that point in time, we see an individual approach the door from the outside.
12:32The female opens the screen door, moves to the side, and lets a male come in the residence.
12:48Once the door shuts again, we see another male show up at the door, and he opens the door and goes in, and then the door shuts again.
12:57So there's two more males entering the residence?
13:04Let's see that again.
13:06What we could tell about the second male is he appeared to be wearing darker clothes.
13:10And the third male entered the residence, and he appeared to be wearing lighter-colored clothes, but we could not see their faces at that point in time.
13:19It appeared that she knew they were coming because she opened the door for them. She knew who they were because she willingly let them in.
13:28The restricting part is the fact that we can't see what's going on inside the residence.
13:36Approximately 30 seconds to a minute later, the male with the light-colored clothes gets to the residence in the same direction he had entered at a fast pace.
13:49We know something appears to be happening. There's more panic, and he leaves in a hurry, and nobody leaves with him.
13:56Looks like he's desperate to get out of there.
13:59Across the 827, we see the female exit the residence, and then the other male enters.
14:20Across the 827, we see the female exit the residence,
14:27and then the other two males.
14:32It appeared that the male in the dark clothes
14:35had something in his hand.
14:37It appeared to be some type of a box.
14:40We're obviously thinking, all right, this has been a robbery.
14:44This is what has occurred.
14:46Now, what was their goal?
14:47What was the end goal?
14:49What did they steal?
14:50What was in that box?
14:54And the male in the patterned clothes
14:56had some type of an item in his hand.
14:58We weren't sure at that point in time,
15:00but it appeared to be some type of a weapon.
15:02Is that a shotgun?
15:04We concluded that these were more than likely the people
15:07that were involved with what happened to Mr. Jack Davis.
15:10Jack Davis remains in critical condition.
15:13He is unable to answer the detective's questions
15:16about who attacked him.
15:20At that point in time, the CCTV was the only lead
15:22that we had to go off as to identifying
15:24who these people were and to be able to speak with them
15:27and find out what their role in this crime was.
15:32Where do they go when they leave the house?
15:35Run the footage from the second camera.
15:38So we switched to the camera angle show in the backyard.
15:43We could see the Ford pickup truck in the backyard.
15:49The female goes to the vehicle and gets in the driver's side.
16:04Shortly thereafter, the two males come out.
16:11The male gets out of the vehicle and gets in the driver's side.
16:16We could tell that the male in the patterned shirt
16:19was in the back bed of the truck.
16:26And they backed out of the driveway.
16:30At daybreak, detectives hunt for more surveillance footage
16:34that could offer new clues.
16:36We're going to have to wait a little bit longer
16:38to find out who these people are.
16:40We're going to have to wait a little bit longer
16:42Detectives hunt for more surveillance footage
16:44that could unlock the suspects' identities.
16:48At 615 Girl Scout Road, we located a camera
16:51on the front side of the residence
16:54pointing out toward the roadway.
16:56Hi, sir.
16:58So we made contact with the resident there
17:01and eventually was able to obtain that video,
17:04which we brought to the station.
17:07As we were watching the video, it had sound, too.
17:12We could see several vehicles go by.
17:18At one point, we saw a vehicle go by
17:21and it appeared to go by a couple times.
17:25Play that again.
17:32We could tell that the vehicle was moving
17:34We could tell that the vehicle appeared to be
17:36some type of a sports car or possibly a red vehicle.
17:40What make a model car is that?
17:44What we see looks like a darker color Mustang.
17:48Sounds like it's slowing down.
17:51We could hear the vehicle slow down.
17:55Out of the camera range, and also,
17:57we could hear it speed back up again.
18:01As we continued to watch, shortly after that,
18:04we see a small vehicle approach
18:08from the Truland Avenue area,
18:10which is the road just down from Mr. Jack Davis' house.
18:14Let's see that again.
18:16The vehicle pulls in front of the residence.
18:18We could tell it was a little small SUV of some sort.
18:21After looking at the video,
18:23I concluded that it was possibly a RAV4.
18:27Couldn't tell the color of it,
18:28but it had a two-tone bottom to it.
18:32We saw that vehicle stop, and we heard the door shut.
18:40We saw that vehicle stop, and we heard the door shut.
18:44The vehicle drove off down Truland Avenue,
18:47and we continued to watch.
18:49And at that point, we saw the two males
18:52that had entered the house second,
18:54after the male and the female.
18:58We saw them walking across the street
19:00toward Mr. Jack Davis' house.
19:02Zoom in there.
19:04We're trying to figure out who drives this RAV4
19:07and who drives this Mustang.
19:09We're trying to figure out who drives this RAV4
19:11and who drives this Mustang,
19:13because they were both in the area at the time
19:15that the crime was committed.
19:24The morning of July 21st,
19:26which is just two days after this event occurred,
19:29we receive a call from a neighboring agency
19:31in another county, Craven County Sheriff's Office.
19:34They call to report that they have found
19:37Mr. Davis' vehicle wrecked on the shoulder of a road
19:40and abandoned.
19:43So I responded down to Riverside Road
19:45where the vehicle had been located,
19:47and I made contact with the neighboring resident there.
19:51She was on scene, and she said that her son
19:53had noticed the vehicle there that Sunday night
19:56between 9.30 and 10 o'clock,
19:58and the vehicle had been sitting there since then.
20:01And the significance is, is that at 11 o'clock on Sunday,
20:05I had gotten a call to respond to Jack Davis' house
20:09in regards to the incident itself.
20:11It was our understanding that the suspects
20:13had obviously driven this to an isolated location
20:18and then ditched the vehicle in hopes of, you know,
20:21getting away.
20:24The crime lab responded.
20:25We noticed, first of all,
20:26that the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.
20:28It appeared to be partially in the ditch,
20:30and the driver's side window had been broken out of.
20:36Once we got in the vehicle,
20:38we located Mr. Jack Davis' wallet.
20:43The box that appeared to have been taken from the residence
20:46had been found on the side of the road.
20:49The box that appeared to have been taken from the residence
20:53had some miscellaneous items but no money.
20:56The black box is open. It's empty.
21:00So either they found what they were looking for
21:03or maybe they're still looking.
21:05We don't know.
21:07The K-9 team's called in to conduct this track
21:11and this article search
21:12to search for articles left behind
21:14and search for our suspects.
21:16And the K-9s, they lead the officers down a dirt path,
21:20approximately 100 yards down that path,
21:23where the scent kind of dries up.
21:26Kingston PD tows Jack's pickup to the police garage.
21:30Forensics officers process the vehicle.
21:34Detectives start collecting samples from the inside.
21:37They're swabbing the steering wheel.
21:40The CSI team finds no fingerprints and no usable DNA.
21:46It's a bummer. It brings you down a little bit.
21:49It just puts a little bit more grit in us
21:51to keep on working harder until we solve this case.
22:00Later that day, our investigators followed up with the hospital
22:04to check the status of Mr. Davis.
22:06We knew that he was in very serious condition,
22:08but we didn't know how serious.
22:12And that's when we were notified that Mr. Davis had,
22:15he had passed away from his injuries.
22:21The hospital that treated Jack calls Marcie Ross.
22:25Hello?
22:26I was hoping that he would pull through,
22:29but it was just, you know,
22:32I was hoping that he would pull through,
22:34but it was just shocking, it was saddening, it was hurtful
22:38to know that he had passed away.
22:41And for a good person like Jack was,
22:44nice as he was to have to,
22:46life to be taken away the way that it was taken.
22:48It was, it was tough.
22:50It just felt like a bottomless pit in my bottomless stomach,
22:55you know, when I found out he had died.
23:03So for the suspects, it goes from committing a robbery,
23:07a home invasion, and a violent assault,
23:09to now they're murderers.
23:11Now the stakes are much more higher for them.
23:14It's a rapidly evolving case.
23:20Hello, Detective Brock speaking.
23:23So about four hours after we're notified
23:26that Mr. Davis has been pronounced deceased at the hospital,
23:30we did receive a phone call from our 911 center
23:33who notified us that an anonymous tipster
23:36called and said that they may know
23:38who is involved in that particular murder.
23:41They wanted an investigator to give them a call.
23:44Copy that.
23:50For this particular case, you know, we've got video,
23:53we've got the vehicle, we've got so much physical evidence,
23:57but we still don't have enough to charge anybody.
24:00We still need somebody to identify them,
24:02and now we're getting this call into the 911 center
24:05saying we know who did it.
24:07We know the names.
24:09At that point, you know, the blood's pumping,
24:12adrenaline's going, it's time to solve this case.
24:22This is Detective Brock.
24:24You have some information about the Jack Davis case?
24:27The next day, we were able to make contact with a caller.
24:30The caller advised that we needed to look into Phoenix Hannibal
24:35as they were involved with the murder of Jack Davis.
24:40Phoenix Hannibal knew Jack Davis from the neighborhood.
24:43Jack Davis supposedly had quite a bit of money
24:47from the sale of an RV.
24:49People in the neighborhood felt like he had a lot of money
24:53from that sale.
24:55It appeared that multiple individuals
24:57apparently planned to enter the house to rob Jack
25:00because it was known that he apparently had
25:03quite a bit of cash in the residence
25:05from the sale of that RV.
25:09Detectives invite the female suspect, Phoenix Hannibal,
25:13to talk about Jack Davis' murder.
25:17As we're standing there waiting for her to arrive...
25:24..she arrives driving...
25:28..the Toyota RAV4 that's seen in the surveillance video
25:31in front of Mr. Davis' house.
25:36It was exciting to know that we had
25:39that piece of evidence right here.
25:41She brought it to us, but it also told us
25:44that she didn't believe we knew anything.
25:46Investigators question Phoenix about her movements
25:49on the night of Jack's murder.
25:52When we first get Phoenix Hannibal in the interview room,
25:55you can tell that she's not going to provide
25:57a lot of information.
26:06Once we brought the vehicle into it,
26:09then she began to change slightly.
26:12Then she would give us a little bit.
26:22Um...
26:35Phoenix admitted to dropping two individuals off
26:38but denied knowing anything about who they were
26:42or what their intentions were.
26:44She did not, at that time,
26:46give the names of the individuals involved.
26:52Later that afternoon, she was brought back in.
27:11She gives us the name Jonathan,
27:13and she says that she doesn't know who they are,
27:15she's never met them before,
27:17and she's just giving them a ride.
27:19She tells us that Jonathan
27:21and another unknown male rode with her.
27:26At this point, one of the two males
27:28we still did not know the name of.
27:31Through our investigative channels
27:33and different means of identifying people,
27:37we were able to identify that Jonathan
27:39was actually a young Hispanic male
27:41known as Jonathan Ordonez.
27:45Jonathan Ordonez was the last person to get to the house
27:48the first one to leave out of the house.
27:50We were able to corroborate that through her interview
27:54as well as through CCTV.
27:56After Jonathan was arrested
27:58and brought down to the station to be interviewed,
28:00he really shined some light on this case.
28:03As we're talking to him,
28:04he admits to offering to help in this robbery.
28:08But at no point in time was this robbery
28:10supposed to turn into a murder.
28:19Jonathan.
28:35This case is a particularly brutal crime to be committed.
28:40It's even more brutal when the people
28:42that you're arresting for this crime
28:44are in their late teens.
28:46You know, Jonathan was 16 years old
28:48at the time this was committed.
28:51The investigators need to identify
28:53the second man in Phoenix's car.
28:55But first, they focus on who was driving the other vehicle.
29:16That's when she realizes
29:18it's in her best interest to cooperate.
29:21Throughout that cooperation,
29:23she tells us that the Mustang
29:25is associated also with Adrian Lopez.
29:28She said Adrian Lopez was the one who dropped off
29:31the other two people that we saw on Mr. Jack Davis' cameras.
29:35And she actually gave the names.
29:41Adrian Lopez was actually the one that drove Jaime Torres
29:45and the female known as Finney to the house.
29:48She was adamant that she had no idea who Finney was.
30:09But eventually, it came out that Finney was Infinity Jones.
30:14And Phoenix was able to positively identify her
30:17as being the female that was in the video.
30:21So the puzzle had really come together at this point.
30:25We've been given all these names.
30:27We have Adrian Lopez,
30:30Jaime Torres,
30:32we have Infinity Jones,
30:34and we have Jonathan Ordonez.
30:38But we still have one that we don't know.
30:44Investigators locate Jaime Torres
30:46and bring him to the police department for questioning.
30:50Jack had taken Jaime under his wing, him and his brothers,
30:53and gave them odd jobs around the house.
30:56Potentially, Jaime knew about the RV sale
30:59and the large sum of money that should have been there.
31:02I was hoping to get the truth from him,
31:04being that he knew Jack personally.
31:08I interviewed Jaime Torres.
31:10He refused to give a statement.
31:12However, he did admit to being there at Jack Davis'
31:15during the crime,
31:17but says he don't remember anything about what had happened.
31:24Jonathan Ordonez admits to knowing Jaime Torres,
31:27and he tells us he sees Jaime Torres attacking Jack Davis.
31:34We saw Jaime, his physical description, his hair,
31:37everything looked similar to the video surveillance we had seen.
31:42So we knew that we could put him there
31:45as the person who entered the residence.
31:49Him admitting that he had been there during the crime,
31:52that gave us probable cause to arrest him
31:55for his role in that crime.
31:58Next, investigators arrest Adrian Lopez,
32:01the driver of the Mustang that dropped off Jaime Torres
32:04and Infinity Jones.
32:07We brought him out to the police department
32:09where we wanted to conduct an interview
32:11because we still had one piece of the puzzle that was missing.
32:13We didn't know who this other guy was
32:15that was seen on the surveillance video.
32:18So why shoot a distraction? People are supposed to be taking the stuff.
32:36During the interview with Adrian Lopez,
32:39he tells us that he's the one that had drove Jaime Torres
32:42and Infinity Jones,
32:44and through that association
32:46and his involvement with her,
32:48we're able to identify the last male as Johnny Sanders.
32:51Hey, let's go in. We have a name.
32:53Johnny Ray Sanders.
32:56We know he's a dangerous individual,
32:58so we want to go ahead and locate him as soon as possible
33:01because we know that he's violent,
33:03and we don't want him to commit this on anybody else.
33:09Police have in custody Phoenix Hannibal,
33:11Jaime Torres, Jonathan Ordonez,
33:14and Adrian Lopez.
33:16Now they need to trace the two remaining suspects,
33:19Infinity Jones and Johnny Ray Sanders.
33:24Officers located Infinity Jones
33:26and brought her to the police department for an interview.
33:40Through our interview with Infinity,
33:42she was able to make us aware that
33:45Johnny was the one that was mainly
33:48responsible for actually delivering the blows
33:50that would kill Mr. Jack Davis.
33:52Mm-hmm.
34:00Mm-hmm.
34:10Police intensify the hunt for Johnny
34:12and release his mugshot to the media.
34:16We know that Johnny Sanders was the one that
34:19likely dealt the last blows to Mr. Davis
34:22that ended his life.
34:24We immediately start following up on leads,
34:26and within an hour or two of doing that,
34:29we get a phone call from Wilson County Sheriff's Office,
34:34and they tell us that Johnny has just walked
34:36in their front door to turn himself in.
34:40Detective Brock.
34:41I responded to Wilson Police Department
34:43with another officer.
34:44I'll be right there.
34:46To pick up Johnny Sanders,
34:48he told us that he had turned himself in
34:50after he had seen his picture on TV
34:52that he was wanted for first-degree murder.
34:59He gives us a statement that he's never stepped foot
35:01in Jack Davis' house, but we know that to be a lie
35:04based on everything else we've discovered
35:06during this investigation.
35:19They got to die?
35:24Arresting Johnny Sanders, you know, it was, in my opinion,
35:27one of the most important pieces of the puzzle
35:29because his role in the incident was the most violent.
35:34News reaches Jack Davis' friends
35:36that police have arrested six people
35:38in connection with his murder.
35:41That's something that you really can't put into words.
35:44When you see on the news that they've arrested several,
35:47you know, people,
35:49you just want to know, why did it happen?
35:53I felt like it was just totally senseless.
35:57You know, these young people ruined their life
36:01over trying to steal a few measly dollars.
36:05Phoenix Hannibal and Infinity Jones
36:07both plead guilty to second-degree murder.
36:10Adrian Lopez pleads guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon.
36:14Jonathan Ordonez pleads guilty to first-degree burglary.
36:18These four receive sentences between four and 16 1⁄2 years.
36:23Johnny Sanders and Jaime Torres
36:25plead not guilty to first-degree murder.
36:28At their trials, prosecutors step through the events
36:31that led to Jack Davis' murder.
36:38Jaime and Phoenix, they knew Jack Davis Jr.
36:41They were limited friends.
36:43They would go up there and visit him from time to time.
36:47Thanks, my man.
36:48They were aware that he sold an RV
36:50for a good, sizable amount of money.
36:55In their minds, there was a substantial amount of cash
36:58located in the house.
37:06On the evening that Jack was murdered,
37:09the plan took place for everyone to meet at Phoenix's residence.
37:14Phoenix was to drive Johnny and Jonathan.
37:20Adrian drove Infinity and Jaime in his vehicle,
37:24so they took two separate vehicles to Jack's house,
37:28dropped everybody off.
37:34Jaime Torres and Infinity Jones entered the house first.
37:40Jaime tackled Jack Davis.
37:44They started fighting.
37:45Mr. Jack Davis was getting the better of Jaime.
37:50Infinity picked up a police-style flashlight
37:52and hit Jack Davis with it.
37:55Jack took the flashlight.
37:58She opened the door for Jonathan,
38:00Johnny Sanders, and Jonathan Rodriguez
38:02to come into the residence.
38:05Johnny Sanders saw Jack Davis was getting the better of Jaime Torres.
38:09He started beating Jack Davis over the head.
38:13With the short shotgun.
38:18At which point, Jack Davis stopped fighting.
38:21At that point, Jonathan Rodriguez left out of the house.
38:25The other three remainers, Infinity Jones, Jaime Torres, and Johnny Sanders
38:30grabbed some items from the house
38:34and left the scene.
38:37Leaving Jack Davis there to die, essentially.
38:44Once they left with Mr. Jack Davis' pickup truck,
38:47they drove to Craven County.
38:50Johnny Sanders parked the pickup truck on the side of the road,
38:53wiped it down,
38:55and then they went back to the residence
38:58where it was reported that they split the money
39:02in Jack Davis' wallet.
39:04The whole reason for this orchestrated attempt
39:07to steal Mr. Davis' money
39:09that he had just come into from the sale of his wallet
39:12to from the sale of his RV
39:13was all flawed
39:15because after we conducted an investigation,
39:17it was determined that Jack Davis had actually placed his money in the bank
39:21where it would be safe
39:22and not in his home.
39:24Mr. Davis was such a large pillar of the community
39:27and he'd done so much to help the very people that killed him.
39:32He was killed and murdered
39:34because he was a giving person
39:37and wanted to help people out.
39:43As a result of the trial of Johnny Sanders and Jaime Torres,
39:47both were found guilty of first-degree murder
39:50and they were sentenced to life in prison
39:52without the possibility of parole.
39:58While we can't bring Jack Davis back,
40:00it was somewhat satisfying
40:03the fact that we did solve the case
40:06and we were able to get justice for Jack Davis
40:09and Jack Davis' family.
40:10The video in this case was what broke the case.
40:13Without the video,
40:15it would have been extremely difficult to piece this together
40:18and I don't know if we ever would have solved it without the CCTV.
40:29I don't think that Jack would want us to just continue to mope.
40:33We just have to pick up and just keep it going.
40:36I miss Jack's friendliness.
40:38I miss Jack's friendliness in the neighborhood,
40:41his kindness,
40:43his giving spirit,
40:45cookouts.
40:48Jack, you're very missed.
40:50Wish that you were still here.
40:52Miss the conversation,
40:54miss the smile.
40:55I miss the joke and I just miss
40:57seeing him coming and going.
40:59I would love for him to still be here
41:02on our block in the neighborhood.
41:09Next time on CINO EVIL
41:11When we discover the handprints in blood,
41:13my stomach dropped.
41:15The video surveillance played an integral part in the investigation.
41:19I want him to pay for what he did.
41:22We want to know what were you thinking?
41:24I think you already know.
