00:00Music and life, Deborah Byrne and Sedla Melodeau when two beautiful people meet
00:10and make wonderful music together in life but also literally and that's the
00:15case with Deborah Byrne and Sedla Melodeau and it's great to have them
00:18both here this morning. Deborah, how you doing? Very good. Nice to see you. You too, thank you.
00:25What a damn handsome couple you are too. How long is it now that you two have been
00:30together? Did you count the days? No. I did count the days. I think it's about four
00:36years. Yeah, four years. And it's just just great to see you all the happiness and
00:40the things that are happening for you. That's all I wanted. Now, there's a very
00:45special CD which I want to promote and it's in actual fact it belongs to Sed but
00:51there's quite a nice backing vocalist there too, I'm told. You work on it,
00:55Deborah? Yeah, yeah, there's a song called Wasting My Time which was said... you tell
01:02the story, you tell the story. Yeah, when when we met there was not much happening in my
01:07life just before we met so I decided to go to Spain and I thought I'm gonna go
01:12to Spain and I'm gonna get the perfect hotel room, perfect landscapes, perfect
01:16lifestyle and I want to write songs and you know stop on just singing other
01:22people's songs and I don't want to be more creative, I want to write songs. So I
01:26bought the plane ticket, I booked the hotel room and I was going to go there
01:30and then I met Deborah in Melbourne and all the inspiration that I was
01:35thinking I would get going to Spain, I got it through Deborah. Unfortunately I
01:40had the plane ticket, had the hotel room booked so I still went there and I missed
01:45Deborah very much and I couldn't write songs because I wanted to be in Melbourne
01:50back here and I've really felt like I was wasting my time very much and one
01:56day in the hotel room I did write a song and I called it Wasting My Time. Yeah,
01:59well it was a little sound I can hear there, is that Lulu? Hiya Lulu. Is your
02:06Lulu a Lauren or a Lauren? Lauren. And it's lovely to have both the girls here, hello Lauren, how are you?
02:17Good thank you. Isn't she so much like you Deborah? Yes, look at her. And Lulu too is gorgeous, two beautiful girls
02:24together. That's a lovely story, when they said at the meeting this morning
02:28that Wasting My Time was dedicated to Deborah, I got a little bit of a concern
02:31there because the title could say other things isn't it? Well yes, if you don't
02:35share the story that's always... No, it means I was wasting my time away from Deborah. That by the way, that is not Lulu, that's Lauren, she's not happy being here, everything will be ok. There you go, she'll be fine. She might be happier in the green room Lauren. I think so, yes. Just take her around there and there's a fridge there and just to the left there's a bottle of Johnny Walker, that'll climb her down. The news department hasn't been to it already. Thank you. You know when you when you tell that story it's such a
03:05romantic story and I think that's one of the reasons why... Well it made her cry didn't it? Yes, exactly. She'd never heard that before had she? It's rather nice for the rest of us to sort of join in on what I guess is a, you know, it's a public romance.
03:17Yeah, it has been a very public romance but you know it's certainly been one of the
03:22stories that I've been very happy to share with with the public because well
03:27they were just so sick of the tragedy. You know what I mean. It is a really nice thing and a lot of
03:35people are really happy, a lot of people have known me for many years and I mean
03:39that includes you and Patti, you know, they're very happy for me and it has
03:43been a nice thing to share. And Patti, by the way, I've got to tell you, I think Ced is like a bit of alright.
03:47Yeah, I know, she mentions it every time. Yes, I've had to tell her actually that the accent is all bull. I mean he's born and bred in Geelong but he does a good job with the accent. I think the intriguing thing is, I don't want to make too fine a point, but I think we talked about it before, that Ced came into your life with
04:05no knowledge of what you've done before, you know, I'm speaking career-wise, which I find intriguing because it's got to be love for real, isn't it?
04:14Yeah, well for me it was really so refreshing to have someone, you know, not necessarily a lover but just someone to talk to that didn't have some kind of pre-conceived idea of what I am and what I've done and how I think and, you know, so that was really very, very nice for me.
04:33Though there are times where I wish, you know, he had seen me do some, you know, something, you know, like Fontaine, though you have seen on film, he's seen on film.
04:42After a while when we met, she gave me a tape of her doing Fontaine in Les Misérables and I went back to my flat and I looked at the tape and I called her and what did I say?
04:55Oh dear, he wasn't happy actually.
04:56I was not happy.
04:57Why?
04:58How could you sing that beautifully and with so much passion before you met me?
05:04I was thinking, who were you thinking about when you were singing the song?
05:09It's terrible.
05:10What was it before you met me?
05:11You've never told him, have you?
05:13Look what I've got for you, Ced.
05:15Oh my goodness.
05:16This is a nice little TV week for you, which we showed before.
05:19Everyone's in it, everyone who's on the show today.
05:21It's hysterical.
05:22It's a beautiful show and there's another one here too.
05:24I don't think you met Deborah's first fiancé, a lovely man, John Young.
05:30There was the night of the engagement and it was trippy.
05:34Look forward to the song.
05:35Which track are you doing?
05:36I won't be wasting my time since we've been talking about it.
05:39I think it's a good idea.
05:40And you're doing the backing track.
05:42I am, I am.
05:43So it's come to this, eh?
05:44Yes, it is.
05:45Let me just show the CD again.
05:46There it is.
05:48Music by Ced, with a little bit of help from the missus.
05:51And it's beautiful, beautiful music.
05:53And they're going to perform for you very soon.
05:55I never butt in like that.
05:56That's terrible.
05:57You were trying?
05:58I never butt in on you like that.
05:59No, that's OK.
06:00Go for it.
06:01Sorry.
06:02I'm a bit disturbed.
06:03Lucia's crying.
06:04I can't concentrate.
06:05Do you want me to wind the whole thing up?
06:06No, no.
06:07Ced's having a CD launch next.
06:08I thought you were going to say Ced's having a heart attack or something.
06:10No, no, no.
06:11When's your launch?
06:12Next Thursday.
06:13Next Thursday.
06:14All right.
06:15Not tomorrow, because this is Wednesday.
06:16Yeah, yeah.
06:17Not tomorrow.
06:18Next Thursday.
06:19No.
06:20Next Thursday at 8 o'clock at the Beat Bar.
06:21Oh, yeah.
06:22It's in Glenara Road in Elsternwick.
06:25Yeah.
06:26So what time, Ced?
06:278 o'clock.
06:28And everybody welcome?
06:29Everybody welcome.
06:30Free champagne.
06:31Oh.
06:32Big party.
06:33Yeah, hey.
06:34And, yeah, they have the opportunity to buy the CD at this for only $20.
06:39Normally it's $1,000, $2,000.
06:41And you'll sign them too?
06:43Yeah.
06:44It's cost extra, but big party anyway.
06:47Big party with lots of musicians.
06:48I think that's one thing I appreciate more than just a Frenchman.
06:50I appreciate a Frenchman with a bit of bullshit in him.
06:53I haven't met one without it, actually.
06:56So that's 8 o'clock next Thursday.
06:58And I hope it goes well.
06:59We look forward to it.
07:02Do you know something I don't know?
07:03No, it's just so true.
07:04Because I haven't heard all the tracks.
07:05No, no, no.
07:06It's a beautiful CD.
07:07I look forward to the thing.
07:09Isn't it lovely to see the young lovers there having a little laugh together?
07:13So please thank Deborah Byrne and...
07:17And now on GMA, here's Moira.
07:24Just for you.
07:25Just for you.
07:26That's what happens when my anxiety level starts to rise.
07:30Well, I tell you what now, dear little Lulu in the green room,
07:32if she stops crying, she'll start again.
07:34Now on GMA, here's Moira.
