00:00He Came to Save the Lost
00:03The question, Are you saved?, offends many people in our culture.
00:08Most people don't think they're that bad or in need of saving, and most would be appalled
00:13at the idea that God would send them to hell.
00:16Jesus' words in Luke 19 verse 10 are a good reminder that, due to our sin, all of us need
00:23to be saved.
00:24For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
00:28The crowd grumbled when Jesus chose to eat with a tax collector named Zacchaeus.
00:33Tax collectors were notorious for taking extra money so that they could pocket it for themselves.
00:39But Zacchaeus rejoiced to see Jesus and repented of his sins.

00:46This story presents us with two different kinds of people, rule breakers and rule followers.
00:52Rule breakers, like Zacchaeus, regularly and openly do things that are wrong.
00:58Rule followers, like the crowds in this story and like the religious leaders in Jesus' day,
01:03pride themselves on keeping God's law while looking down on rule breakers.
01:08Despite their differences, people from both of these groups are sinners and in need of
01:13salvation.
01:14Apart from Christ, our minds are blinded.

02:12Based on these and other passages of scripture, our biggest problem is not merely that we've
02:17messed up or made some bad decisions.
02:20Our biggest problem is that we are dead in our sins, rebels against God, and completely
02:26unable to save ourselves.
02:28In short, we are lost.
02:30That's why it's good news that the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
02:36Have you humbled yourself and admitted to God that you need to be saved?
