The Tropicana Las Vegas is officially no more. On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the iconic building, which first opened on April 4, 1957, was imploded ahead of the construction of a new baseball stadium. According to Today, 2000 pounds of explosives and four miles of detonating cord were used to carry out the demolition, which occurred in less than 30 seconds.
