00:00Thank you, Gavin. Say goodnight, Gavin.
00:03Goodnight, Gavin.
00:04Thank you, Gavin.
00:05James, thanks for doing the show.
00:07Pleasure.
00:08First of all, before I get into James,
00:10listen, it's great to have you back on Countdown.
00:12Yeah, it's nice.
00:13In fact, when was the last time you were on? About what?
00:15About six, seven years ago.
00:16Six years ago?
00:17And you sort of come out of the young Talenton syndrome.
00:19I used to get booed.
00:20I know, and you were in tears one day.
00:21No, it really is good to have you back.
00:22You're looking great at the moment, don't you reckon?
00:25Yeah, yeah.
00:26And the song, who wrote the song? I've got to ask you that.
00:29Oh, look, this is really embarrassing.
00:30A guy, Fran, with the crocodiles, and I can't pronounce his last name, but...
00:34It's a nice song.
00:35Yeah, I like it.
00:36It's beautifully produced by Cameron.
00:37He's wonderful.
00:38I hope it does.
00:39Oh, isn't he lovely?
00:40And James, it must have been sort of really hard
00:43after the boys lied up to wonder what to do.
00:46Yeah, we tried not to worry about it, actually.
00:48I mean, everyone kept saying,
00:49oh, you know, the pressure must be immense.
00:51Right.
00:52Now, Sirocco, when's that actually out?
00:54I think it's about mid to late June.
00:56Right.
00:57I think the single must be out now.
00:58Now, listen, like a lot of groups,
00:59because I hear that the Flowers are not going to use Cameron for their next album.
01:02You changed producers.
01:03David Briggs did the last.
01:05And now Peter Dawkins has done Sirocco, or most of it.
01:09He did it all.
01:10Was it a new sound?
01:11I mean, obviously, I've heard five tracks,
01:13and it's a different sound, I think.
01:15Yeah, it's a lot more representative of the band, I think.
01:18David, in his keenness, kind of makes a real studio album.
01:21I mean, we're really happy with this one
01:23because it's so representative of the band.
01:25Right.
01:26We did a lot more.
01:27We had a lot more to do with it this time than the last time.
01:29Right.
01:30And back on the road, when is it?
01:31Tuesday.
01:32Yeah, and like a tour, is it?
01:34We're doing pubs.
01:35Right.
01:36We're just going to do a pub tour for a couple of months.
01:38Right.
01:39Well, listen, we wish you luck with the album.
01:40Thank you very much.
01:41I think after the five tracks I've heard, you don't need much luck,
01:43and especially with your single as well.
01:45All right, it's time to say goodnight.
01:46Before we say goodnight tonight,
01:48the number one record, in fact, this week is, in fact,
01:50Roxy Music with Jealous Guy, which I think is quite superb.
01:53But we had a very valid letter in this week.
01:56It went on, dear Molly, and it went on to say,
01:59we would like to voice a complaint about Brian Ferry
02:01and Roxy Music's song Jealous Guy on behalf of the John Lennon fans.
02:04It seems that the music industry is really going downhill
02:06when someone can steal a song from someone else
02:08and be told how good it is, particularly in this case
02:10where John Lennon is not around to defend himself.
02:12John Lennon was a wonderful man, and if Brian Ferry
02:14had honestly cut Jealous Guy as a tribute to him,
02:16then we'd all be proud.
02:17But he didn't.
02:18He cut it for his own benefit.
02:19Well, we don't know that.
02:20The money is not going as it should to Yoko Ono or to a charity,
02:23meaning Yoko Ono's charity that John, in fact, set up with Yoko,
02:26but into Brian's pocket.
02:27It's a very valid point, and I sincerely hope that perhaps, Brian,
02:30that part of the royalties that go out because it's been an enormous hit
02:33do, in fact, go to the charity that John set up and was so sincere in.
02:38All right? It's time to say goodnight.
02:40Sorry for that heavy bit on the end of the show.
02:42Goodnight, James. Best of luck.
02:43And, Debbie, it's great to have you back, all right?
02:45Goodnight.
02:46Goodnight, Australia, with Jealous Guy, number one, Roxy Music.
