00:00After eight grueling weeks, we are three-quarters of the way through the block, Phillip Island.
00:16Relationships have been tested.
00:17I don't really talk to the girls.
00:18I just talk to chicken.
00:19Vanilla.
00:20It feels like very much them and us.
00:27What have I done to get that kind of response, you know?
00:31And the team's budgets have been stretched thin.
00:34Budget's still in the red.
00:35You need some 10s, boys, and you need another 50 to get into the garden work.
00:39We need a win.
00:40Yeah, we're desperate.
00:41Otherwise, we might as well pack our bags and go home.
00:46But...
00:49You just wait and see what I've got in store for them this week.
00:56The biggest week ever.
00:58They say that every block, don't they?
00:59Every single week.
01:00Biggest week ever.
01:01But this time, it actually is.
01:04It's office and rumpus week.
01:05The house is too big and we haven't got enough wicks, so you're just going to have to squeeze
01:08the hallway in in between.
01:10Right.
01:11By the end of the week, 17 spaces, including the hallways, will be revealed.
01:15We're going to try and finish our hallway, try and do rumpus, and then the office area.
01:21So, yay.
01:22And then I drop the most colossal challenge of the season on the blockheads.
01:27The domain listing and buyers jury.
01:30The team that gets the most votes at the end of the night will win a staggering $50,000.
01:37It's a massive prize.
01:39$50,000 to our budget would send us deep into the green.
01:43Maybe that's actually our game changer.
01:46And what's a party without a couple of VIPs?
01:49Adrian Portelli and Danny Wallace.
01:51How are you, mate?
01:52Rikki, nice to meet you.
01:53Nice to meet you, office.
01:56Our winners are...
01:59For house five, the challenge may be insurmountable.
02:05We've been set a virtually impossible task this week.
02:08With five spaces up for judging, more than any block team has ever attempted in 20 seasons.
02:15We have two hallways and a stairwell, which is gigantic.
02:20And our office and rumpus as well.
02:22And the pressure definitely takes its toll.
02:25Tough week.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Tough week.
02:28F***ing stoked.
02:29Christian!
02:30What are you doing?
02:31I just need five minutes, please.
02:32You alright?
02:33I can't do it anymore.
02:34The block.
02:35It's f***ing killing me.
02:36F***ing hell.
02:37I'm f***ing done with this f***ing show.
02:38F***ing hell.
02:39F***ing hell.
02:40F***ing hell.
02:41F***ing hell.
02:42F***ing hell.
02:43F***ing hell.
02:44F***ing hell.
02:45F***ing hell.
02:46F***ing hell.
02:47F***ing hell.
02:48F***ing hell.
02:49F***ing hell.
02:50F***ing hell.
02:51F***ing hell.
02:52F***ing hell.
02:53F****ng hell.
02:54F***ing hell.
02:55F***ing hell.
02:56F****ng hell.
02:57F****ing hell.
02:58F***ing hell.
02:59F***ing hell.
03:00Look, the block is a marathon.
03:16It's 12-13 weeks of nonstop hard work.
03:21And right now we're in that three quarters of the way through where you're so emotionally
03:30tired, sleep deprived, but you've just got to somehow try and get your second wind.
03:37But all it can take is a win, whether that be a room win or a challenge win.
03:43Did you have a good day yesterday?
03:53No.
03:54It was the worst day of my whole life.
03:58Where came last in living and dining?
04:02Well, for me, it's the space that's the concern and as a primary living zone that's feeling
04:12a little bit squashed.
04:13I don't feel like I am down the beach or at a holiday home.
04:17I am not coming to the beach for my whole lounge room to be built around a TV.
04:22If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then living and dining is the soul.
04:29This doesn't have it.
04:30It's a fumble.
04:31Biggest fumble I've seen this season.
04:38It is a real kick in the gut.
04:42I think the thing that's hardest to process is we started off this competition so strong
04:49and we had like four wins really early.
05:04And you know, there was all talks of us potentially being the best block couple of all time.
05:09And like we could beat records and this and that.
05:11And then to not have another win since, it becomes harder and harder and you just feel
05:15like you're falling further and further away, so.
05:18Yeah, I'm tired.
05:22This whole experience is killing me.
05:26Absolutely killing me.
05:28Just absolutely spent and it's getting worse every day.
05:35For Christian and Mimi, it's been a fall from grace.
05:40But last night's winners have had the opposite trajectory.
05:44Wow, it's Kylie and Brad.
05:52How are you feeling this morning?
06:02Yeah, good.
06:03I'm feeling good.
06:04I'm still shocked.
06:06Shayna walked into your living and dining room and did something she has never done before.
06:15It just works perfectly with that kitchen.
06:18Couple of tens?
06:19Yeah, a couple of tens.
06:20Come at me.
06:21I didn't think Marty gave tens out.
06:23Well, he does when he likes what he sees.
06:25Yeah, that's crazy.
06:26Marty thinks that the buyers will know they have entered another level of sophistication.
06:33Quite frankly, this has been my favourite room of the block this season.
06:38This morning, it's time to find out if the blockheads agree at the Domain Open for Inspections.
06:54This is insane.
07:02That is ridiculous.
07:10Kylie and Brad need to just calm down with how amazing that room looks.
07:14Leave some style for the rest of us, Kylie and Brad.
07:17Jesus.
07:18Leave some space for the rest of us, too.
07:20You can see why they got tens.
07:26That is a table.
07:28And it still looks smaller here.
07:31Welcome to the first board meeting of the year.
07:34I'd just like to say that it's good to have you here all this morning.
07:38Hayden, can you please present our budget?
07:41I don't really want to.
07:4450k down.
07:47They've done such a good job.
07:49And the artwork is stunning.
07:52So good.
07:54This is beautiful.
07:55This feels very homely.
07:57Even though it's black, it feels really homely.
08:01It's not how I taught him to light a fire.
08:04That is going out in about five minutes.
08:06He gave it a crack.
08:13I think they've done really an amazing job.
08:16I love it.
08:18Love, love, love.
08:19Sometimes it's more difficult to style such a big space, and they absolutely nailed it.
08:23They deserve the win.
08:24They deserve the two tens.
08:26In fact, they probably deserve three.
08:31Last night, the judges were mixed on Maddie and Charlotte's third place living and dining.
08:38I would like a little more drama.
08:41Yeah.
08:42Personally.
08:43I really feel the styling has completely let them down.
08:48Shayna just thinks it's vanilla.
08:53Shayna, vanilla is a universally loved flavour.
08:56It's no secret that Kylie has given the girls the cold shoulder
08:59since they arrived to take Jessie and Paige's place.
09:07Maybe a couple of tens on the board last night
09:11has her in a friendlier mood.
09:15All I want to do is centre their coffee table,
09:17but I know it's like that because it's like an odd shape.
09:20All I want to do is center their coffee table, but I know it's like that because it's like
09:41an odd shape.
09:42Look at that.
09:43They've literally just put a bit of stone there.
09:50Is that how they just get away with it?
09:53That looks shocking.
09:56It's just like there's nothing exciting about it.
10:01Yeah, I get the vanilla comment, but we thought that of their bathroom too though, so.
10:08They are consistent.
10:09They can stay, man.
10:10They can stay vanilla.
10:13It's just sort of like, it's sort of what you see in a lot of homes.
10:17And I guess a holiday home, it's ideal for that, but we did sort of comment thinking
10:23they just bought a furniture package, like it was all very matchy-matchy.
10:28That matches that.
10:29It's like you, like they just bought it all in two sets.
10:32Literally.
10:33Yeah, like a pack, a furniture package.
10:35Yeah.
10:36It just looks like a show home.
10:39Just cold in general.
10:40It's exactly the opposite of what you're trying to do.
10:42Yeah.
10:43I like ours better.
10:44Earlier this morning, the teams found out what's on the cards this week.
10:58It's office and rumpus week.
11:00That's right.
11:01The Blockettes have two rooms to deliver, an office and a rumpus room.
11:07How much did Scotty budget for this week?
11:10Scotty budgeted $16,000 for this week.
11:14How generous of him.
11:15Yep.
11:16Out of the $250,000 CommBank budget, I've suggested they spend only $16,000.
11:23How much is the budget for the hallways?
11:25There is no budget for the hallways.
11:26That was just slipped in a couple of weeks ago.
11:29Two rooms and a hallway.
11:30There goes the hallway.
11:31Hallway?
11:32Ah, that's right.
11:33A couple of weeks ago, a very panicked Dan brought this to Shelly and my attention.
11:40Scotty, Shelly, how are we?
11:43Dan, you've got a drama.
11:44A little bit of drama.
11:46I think there's actually no hallway week.
11:49No.
11:50There isn't.
11:51There's no hallway week.
11:53No.
11:54I mean, it's there, but there's no allocated week.
11:57On the schedule.
11:58So everyone's in a panic.
11:59I'm in a panic.
12:00The houses are too big and we haven't got enough weeks.
12:01We'll come up with something.
12:03We'll come up with something.
12:04All right.
12:05Thanks, guys.
12:06See you.
12:07See you, Dan.
12:08So Shelly and I came up with an idea.
12:09Hey, boys.
12:10Come over here for a sec, fellas.
12:11What's happening?
12:12Well...
12:13The houses are too big and we haven't got enough weeks, so you're just going to have
12:18to squeeze the hallway in in between.
12:20Like, we're thinking that for the hallway here, we, you know, give you a time frame,
12:25let's call it two weeks, to knock it over, and then we judge it.
12:29We judge it.
12:30Shelly and I judge it.
12:31We judge it.
12:33And whoever builds the best hallway and dresses it, as judged by Shell and I, wins 10,000
12:37cash.
12:41I think hall week is generally called week from hell, something along those lines.
12:46Hell week.
12:47Hell week.
12:49So the hallways are now due this Thursday, which means they've got three days to get
12:53these finished.
13:03Not to mention whilst they work on the office and rumpus room spaces as well.
13:10We're going to try and finish our hallway, try and do rumpus, and then the office area.
13:16It's really three spaces, so yay.
13:19A lot of pressure.
13:21Definitely harder than any other week we've done on the boat.
13:24For sure.
13:25Yeah.
13:26It's just everything was a perfect storm.
13:33Just like the blockheads, why not head to Domains in the Know Hub for exclusive details
13:38on this week's rooms.
13:39Every week, there'll be expert advice, floor plans, and much more, helping contestants
13:44navigate another huge week of renovations.
13:48You and I must fight for our rights.
13:55You and I must fight to survive.
14:03It's possibly the biggest week we've seen on the block yet.
14:11With the hallways due on Thursday, and the office and rumpus up for reveal on Sunday.
14:20From that door to that wall, how big is that?
14:22330.
14:23330?
14:24We both do have business degrees.
14:25I think maybe it's our business minds, like that's how, like, we're less design-focused,
14:29more, like, business-minded, that's just naturally how we are.
14:33We want to attract the market that's around us, which in Phillip Island is like the holiday
14:39coastal market.
14:40Coastal guys.
14:41So I think for us, we're like, how do we add value?
14:43How do we create a house that we can get as many people interested as possible?
14:48Maddie and Charlotte have got big plans in the upstairs area of house one.
14:52So this week, we're changing our office into a rumpus because we don't see the value in
14:58a rumpus by a 3.5-metre office in a holiday home.
15:00So we're going to change that into the rumpus.
15:04A simple space is going to have some comfy seating, an office nook, and a TV above a
15:09timber entertainment unit.
15:12But their grand plan is taking shape in the back area of the mezzanine level.
15:18In the back area, which was actually allocated as the guest bedroom, we've done a little
15:25We're going to present like a sitting room, which is going to look a little bit odd to
15:29the judges because they're going to be like, why am I walking into just like a sitting
15:32room with some occasional chairs?
15:37But that is part of the bigger plan to have a guest retreat.
15:43This guest retreat, with its own entrance and spiral staircase, is something Maddie
15:48and Charlotte got the ball rolling on weeks ago.
15:51And can you still access this from the main house?
15:54So there'll be a door there that has a lock on it.
15:55A lockable door.
15:56Yeah.
15:57OK.
15:58But this is good.
15:59This is awesome.
16:00I'll forward them on to the right people and we'll get it going.
16:01OK, thank you.
16:02With the plans locked in, the girls even had block architect Julian Frenchley on board.
16:07You're on the money with the spiral staircase?
16:08Perfect.
16:09And it's going to make the house look amazing.
16:10That's good.
16:11That's all we want.
16:12OK.
16:13Thank you so much for that.
16:15Maddie and Charlotte could be on to a winner with this idea.
16:19Because a few seasons back, contestants Tess and Luke delivered a similar space with its
16:28own entrance.
16:29This is feeling like a proper self-contained little apartment.
16:33You are now competing for a different buyer from everyone else.
16:37And went on to win the series.
16:39Tess and Luke are taking home to Cairns a whopping 730 grand cash.
16:49We came into a house that was beautiful, but it wasn't us.
16:53And it wasn't our style.
16:54And a lot of decisions weren't made by us.
16:57So this was like, I guess, our way of being like, no, we want to add some sort of value
17:01or something to this house that is not just your stock standard bedroom.
17:06Or, you know, we want to do something a bit different.
17:08That's why we started to pursue the idea from the start.
17:12Tell me why I don't like Mondays.
17:16Tell me why I don't like Mondays.
17:20I love Mondays.
17:21I love Mondays.
17:22I love the inconsistent feedback and then coming into your room and then racking your
17:27brain on a Monday.
17:29It's delightful.
17:30It's one of my favourite pastimes.
17:31I'm going to miss it.
17:32Honestly, if I could live every Monday, if I could live a life full of Mondays on the
17:36block, I'd be a very happy man.
17:39This week, we have the office space and then also the rumpus room.
17:44So decisions needed to be made there.
17:47Yeah, it's just insane.
17:49This week, the big concern for the married couple is the office space, which they made
17:54the decision to make smaller a few weeks back to make the mezzanine en suite bigger.
17:59With a grand plan of turning this level into a second main suite.
18:09However, the judges didn't love the idea.
18:14So they've taken space.
18:16Fundamentally, doing that is a massive error from a real estate perspective.
18:22And I absolutely hate it.
18:27I do have to agree for a secondary en suite.
18:30This is such a waste of space.
18:32It's too much.
18:33I think this floor plan is a big mistake in layout.
18:36To me, it's just, it's a miss.
18:40Let's get all the walls up.
18:42Let's get it all framed out and everything done here.
18:44And then let's have another meeting.
18:46And once the space is all put together, let's work out how it's going to work.
18:50But there's one thing they're confident that can save the now smallest office space on the block.
18:56Courtney's styling, which always sets us apart.
18:59Curves are what makes us different.
19:01And we've got quite a unique feature in the plaster that complements the kitchen curve.
19:06Working with the curve faster on the balustrade,
19:08they're going to have a built-in shelf on the wall with an office desk set up in front
19:12and a sitting area as you enter the space.
19:15What we've done with our office is that nothing's cement.
19:19So you can, we can move out the desk if you need to.
19:21And it could be like a little reading nook.
19:23We tried to tick a few boxes there.
19:25I also have a thought with the other room.
19:29As you go into the rumpus room, it is a bit of a narrow room and a longer room.
19:33In this extra living space, they're going to have an L-shaped sofa, coffee table,
19:38big TV on a port-o-timber wall, sconce lights and artwork.
19:44If we can get an L-shaped lounge this way, then that eliminates any storage, this wall.
19:49Yeah, like a lounge which kicks out.
19:51Like a chaise.
19:52Yeah.
19:53You can have a lounge there and a chaise, so that wall really...
19:55Chaise or chase?
19:56It's chaise.
19:58It's very bougie.
19:59It's a French word, it's not cha...
20:01Chase.
20:03What do you think about chases?
20:14Our house is different to everyone else's house,
20:16because we have two hallways, downstairs and upstairs.
20:21And a stairwell, which is gigantic.
20:24And our office and rumpus are on separate levels of the house as well.
20:28The rumpus room, which is on the ground floor,
20:30was originally planned as a third bedroom or guest suite.
20:33But Christian and Mimi have decided to take advantage of its proximity to the pool
20:38and make it another living space,
20:41with everything you could expect to find.
20:46Upstairs, we have a massive office space.
20:49We felt that it was unnecessary, so we've done a bedroom.
20:53People love more bedrooms.
20:55This extra bedroom will have a double bed, modest wardrobe,
20:59reading chair and coastal-inspired artwork on the wall.
21:05So, those are House 5's plans for the week.
21:08Question is, can they afford them?
21:11Lucky I have something in store that could be an absolute game-changer.
21:16Oh, g'day.
21:18Hi, guys.
21:19Hello.
21:20Hi.
21:21I feel like we only saw you yesterday.
21:23How are we all?
21:24Great, mate.
21:25I know you're very busy planning your rumpus-slash-office,
21:28but I've got an extremely important announcement to make.
21:34We're going to be moving to a new location.
21:36We're going to be moving to a new location.
21:38We're going to be moving to a new location.
21:40We're going to be moving to a new location.
21:42I've got an announcement to make.
21:49And to help me do that,
21:50I've brought along my friend, resident property expert from Domain,
21:54the very knowledgeable Alice Stocks.
21:57Welcome, Alice.
21:58Hi, guys. Great to be here.
22:00As you know, the block is the most challenging real estate game
22:05in the country.
22:06Can we guess what this week's challenge is?
22:10Yes.
22:12Well, we knew this was coming, didn't we?
22:14We didn't have this officially down on the schedule,
22:17but we knew this was coming, didn't we?
22:19We knew it was coming.
22:20We had a bit of a sniff.
22:21The Domain Listing and Buyer's Jury.
22:23Yes! Come on!
22:28Working with your agents,
22:29you will create a fantastic domain listing
22:32telling everybody how your house is the best on the block.
22:37We all know you guys are going to be auctioning your homes
22:39back-to-back on the same day,
22:41so you have to do whatever it takes
22:43to make your house stand out from the crowd.
22:45And the best way to do it
22:47is through creating an emotional connection to the property.
22:51Emotional connection, we always talk about that.
22:53Once you've created your domain listing,
22:55you're going to put on a soiree of sorts.
22:58Ha-ha! Yay!
23:00A 100-perspective buyers.
23:03I feel like instead of, you know,
23:05constantly just getting judges' feedback,
23:07you're getting feedback from prospective buyers.
23:11Judges aren't buying your house.
23:13Those guys are.
23:15And you better put on a good shindig.
23:17The team that gets the most votes at the end of the night
23:20will win a staggering...
23:23$50,000!
23:25Wow!
23:27Ash, thanks to Domain.
23:29$50,000!
23:31If you win this challenge, that's almost like winning five weeks.
23:34Oh, it is. It's like winning five weeks.
23:36It's like winning five weeks of the block.
23:38$50,000 towards our budget
23:40would basically pay for our landscaping.
23:43Done.
23:44Why not add a bit more pressure to this week?
23:47Now, just saying, the team that won this challenge last year
23:50went on to win the block with a record profit.
23:56So you've really got to pull out all the stops.
23:59It's going to be a block party to remember.
24:02I'll bring everyone up here and I'll tell them to look down
24:05at all the other peasants.
24:07Mimi!
24:10So I suggest you get on the blower to your agents immediately
24:14and get the ball rolling.
24:16Yeah, you there, mate?
24:17Yeah, I've got some big news.
24:19We're organising a shindig this week.
24:22A shindig?
24:23Yeah, I know we're good at it.
24:24That's what I'm talking about.
24:27Get on the case.
24:28Good luck, everybody. See you later.
24:31We're going to try and organise it open for inspection.
24:34We're going to try and finish it on-suite, finish it hallway,
24:37try and do rumpus.
24:38Photos, copywriting, don't even know what that is yet.
24:41Got to Google that.
24:42Yeah, there's a whole list of things that we've got to get planned.
24:45This is going to be a wild week.
24:47People were calling last week massive.
24:49This is just going to be onroids.
24:51There'll be barely any sleep this week.
24:57Welcome back to the block,
24:59where I've just dropped a potential 50 grand bomb on the blockheads.
25:05What a rock and roll all night.
25:09Nobody ever did.
25:11Big day this Thursday.
25:1250 grand on the line.
25:13Domain open home.
25:14Sheesh, that's a big one.
25:15That's a big one.
25:1650 grand, baby!
25:1850 Gs, baby!
25:20So what needs to happen, guys?
25:22So we need to work with our agent.
25:30Hi, Yvette.
25:31Courtney, see you too.
25:32How are you?
25:33Get the right people invited,
25:35figure out catering, entertainment.
25:42Should I fly my parents in?
25:46Your parents could be potential buyers,
25:48but then is that a conflict of interest?
25:49No, not for the team!
25:51Oh!
25:52Yes, I thought...
25:53My parents aren't going to buy our house.
25:55Oh, my God.
25:56Imagine setting up a temporary kitchen at the front
25:58and your dad making patois.
26:00Oh!
26:03Oh!
26:05Hey, do you want to DJ?
26:06We had a DJ last night at one of the homes.
26:07Do you want to DJ?
26:08Well, DJ or live tunes?
26:10Mate, we are pumped for this.
26:12Throwing a party and actually getting to use the space
26:15that we've built for what we believe is
26:18what it's going to be used for,
26:20that excites us.
26:21Yeah, we'll see.
26:22We'll find out what our limitations are
26:23and go from there.
26:24I may be serving drinks with no top on and a bow tie.
26:29Photos were coming the next day.
26:33So what we'll do, once we get photos on Tuesday afternoon,
26:36obviously we'll get them processed as quickly as we can
26:39and then we'll just share them with you overnight.
26:41Well, thankfully our real estate agent was kind of on top of it.
26:44We will see you at 7.
26:45Sounds good.
26:46Thanks so much, Jodie.
26:47Thanks, Jodie.
26:48Bye.
26:49With 50 grand on the line,
26:50your real estate agent is going to play a key role
26:53in how you present and sell the house.
26:58It's a domain challenge
27:01and we don't have a real estate agent.
27:05We're so not ready for this.
27:08Last week, the Queenslanders got some bad news.
27:13Our real estate just bought out.
27:16Oh, golly.
27:19So I don't know how we're going to do a domain challenge
27:22without an agent that would want to come on board.
27:26You guys went into quite a spin.
27:28It's a lot to try and digest,
27:30not to mention you don't have much time.
27:33What have we got, Thursday?
27:35Technically, three days and the fourth day
27:37is you're throwing a party at your home.
27:40With 50 grand on the line this week,
27:42Kylie and Brad aren't taking it lying down.
27:46Yeah, so we put out a call to a local agent,
27:49Alex Scott, Greg Price.
27:52Yeah, mate, so we're in the hunt
27:54for a real estate agent to help us sell our block home.
27:58Yeah, look, I'd be keen to come down
28:00and have a look at the property with you tomorrow
28:02if you're available.
28:03Mate, that would be amazing.
28:05Yeah, we could go through things.
28:07I know the property well.
28:09I sold it to people who bought it off.
28:11So that's amazing what you guys are doing.
28:14So I'm really looking forward to coming down and having a look.
28:17I'm looking forward to it.
28:18We've also reached out to...
28:20Michael from McGrath in Melbourne, Melbourne-based.
28:27We're hoping you might be able to come and save the day.
28:30You'd be all overers if this will be your sixth time,
28:33someone with lots of experience.
28:35Maybe we needed to go with someone
28:37that has some block experience,
28:39that understands how it all works,
28:41someone that's potentially won a few before,
28:43someone who's been through a lot.
28:46We felt really comfortable chatting to Michael
28:48straight away on the Zoom.
28:49He knows his stuff and it sort of puts your mind at ease
28:52a little bit when you can actually chat to them.
28:54Michael, we've spoken to a local agent,
28:56Greg, from Alex Scott Real Estate here on the island.
29:00And we sort of thought by having more of a local representative
29:04and a local agent,
29:05we might be able to get a little bit more of an idea
29:08of what it's like to be a real estate agent.
29:10So we're going to have a little bit of a chat
29:12And we sort of thought by having more of a local representation
29:16but then doing a little bit of a collaboration
29:18with a bigger agent that's got more experience,
29:21maybe that would be something that you could be interested in.
29:25So having local boots on the ground
29:27plus the juggernaut that is Josh and I
29:30and the McGrath Network coming in to assist
29:33and work in tandem with Greg and his team,
29:38it just makes sense.
29:40Yeah, really.
29:41We're glad it makes sense to you
29:42because that's what we were hoping for.
29:44Carly and Brad have gone from having zero agents
29:47to now having two agencies sharing the load
29:50for the Domain Challenge.
29:51Now we've got the heavy hitters. I love it.
29:53I think we've probably got the best team
29:55and no one knows it yet.
29:58We've got this team, let's do it.
29:59Woo!
30:00Yeah!
30:01Woo!
30:03Next step now is we need to organise some catering.
30:08What we're going to do about our photos.
30:11Lots of stuff.
30:12There's lots of stuff for Thursday
30:14but we also have the build of our office on
30:16that's happening at the moment.
30:17And hallway.
30:18And hallway, yeah.
30:34Jesus.
30:37Jesus, he's going quick through the car park.
30:43Alright, I'm breaking this thing, mate.
30:45Are you going to hammer it?
30:46Yeah, I'm going to hammer it.
30:47Don't hammer it too hard.
30:48No, I'm just going to run at it.
30:49I reckon Superman headbutt.
30:50Yeah, Superman headbutt.
30:51I feel sorry for this lever.
30:53It's a bad day to be a lever.
30:55Runner.
30:56Runner.
31:01That's pulled.
31:03Slammed it, broke the glass, pulled the lever,
31:05bang, straight into house three.
31:07H was excited.
31:08He's a bit of a pyro, so.
31:12H lit the flare off in our rumpus
31:14and Scotty came running up the stairs.
31:17I don't know where he was or how he knows.
31:20Distress signal.
31:21Proper safety flare.
31:23I couldn't see Hayden.
31:25Hayden's turned around to look at me.
31:27I'm like, mate, turn the other way.
31:29And then Scotty just appears out of the smoke.
31:31Call has been answered.
31:32I saw the flare go off.
31:33Thanks for answering the call, mate.
31:35We get to exhaust 10,000 bucks in High Pages trades.
31:39All right, beauty, what are we doing, boys?
31:41We really desperately need help with plastering this week.
31:45Massive room, massive job.
31:47If we're going to finish,
31:49we're going to need a big team of plasterers.
31:51With a hallway due on Thursday
31:53and an office and rumpus room due on Sunday,
31:55getting a team of plasterers
31:57is an ace up the sleeve for the boys this week.
32:00Righty-o, plasterers, High Pages app, you got it?
32:02Beautiful. So take some photos.
32:04Beautiful.
32:06And post.
32:08Ad went up and, uh, yeah, waiting on the call.
32:1210,000 bucks worth of trades from High Pages
32:14plus 5,000 bucks to get something flash for the room.
32:17The boys have a relatively simple plan for their rumpus this week
32:21with a few sofas, a coffee table and mounted TV on the wall.
32:27But their real game-changer is happening in the office area.
32:32The office area?
32:34Office in the bin.
32:37Who needs an office when you're coming down to the Philippines?
32:40So we're going to do a big games area
32:42and make it that really nice entertaining house.
32:45With the five grand, we're going to get a pool table
32:48slash air hockey table,
32:50maybe a Pac-Man game, maybe a Street Fighter game
32:53and maybe a cocktail card for a few quiet sippers.
32:58That's fantastic, boys. That's a great idea.
33:00Yeah, mate.
33:01And this room's going to be terrific.
33:03I think the hardest thing is that we've put so much effort,
33:06blood, sweat and tears, sleepless nights
33:08and super proud of the work that we've done
33:11and just got zero reward for it.
33:14Our budget's still cooked.
33:16Have I got the buyers' jury this week as well, 50K's worth?
33:18I reckon, cos you're the Challenge Kings,
33:20I reckon you could do that.
33:22There's 100K on the line this week.
33:24100K, 50K for the Domain Challenge,
33:26there's 10K for Hallway, 10K for Rumpus
33:29and then potentially, you know, if you can jack some tens,
33:31there's 100 there.
33:33So we could go from in the red to, you know, in the green miles.
33:37This is your week. This is our week, mate.
33:39So, yeah, we're pumped.
33:48Ricky and Aidan have a small army of trusted tradies
33:51to help them out.
33:53But not so for Christian and Mimi,
33:55who happen to have the most work
33:57out of all the teams this week.
33:59So just to add to all the drama of the two spaces
34:02and upstairs, downstairs, hallways, challenge,
34:05the site did come a bit messy.
34:13Christian. Yes.
34:15Clean. Look at this.
34:17I'm a clean worker. I have been throughout the whole season.
34:19I've just been absolutely bombarded this last two weeks.
34:22We'll clean it up. I don't want excuses.
34:24We're getting it cleaned up.
34:26I'm not going to go upstairs, stop all works,
34:28until this is Mickey Mouse.
34:30Well, instead of closing us down, I'll start working on that straightaway.
34:32Nah, I'm closing them down until it's clean up.
34:38Just f***ing stay up all night.
34:40No s*** is going to be f***ing dirty.
34:42I think it was a fair call,
34:44but the way that he came across,
34:46he made it sound like we're messy all the time.
34:48It's literally the first time it's ever happened.
34:50This week, to continue on from the all-nighter on Sunday
34:53and the all-nighter the week before
34:55and the week before and the lack of sleep.
34:57Yeah, there's just...
34:59I don't know, just to try and piece everything together
35:01is really hard.
35:03Very drained physically, emotionally and...
35:05mentally, I guess.
35:09To keep things moving, Christian has sent his crew downstairs
35:11while he cleans up the mess.
35:15Christian. Christian.
35:17Where's all your workers?
35:19What do you mean? Where are they?
35:21They're working.
35:23OK, there's no work until all this is cleaned up.
35:25Boys, we've got to clean upstairs still.
35:31Bucket.
35:33I'm cleaning it now.
35:35Well, we need it cleaned up, so still.
35:37I'm doing it now. Let's just clean up.
35:39It's not safe for us.
35:41I'm cleaning it now. Yeah, but I want them to help
35:43because I want it done. We've been asking all day.
35:45It's a one-man job to clean all this.
35:47Let's turn a one-man job for an hour
35:49into a four-man job in ten minutes.
35:51The thing is, it doesn't take...
35:53The more we argue about it, the longer we wait.
35:55I've cleaned it.
35:57The quicker we do it, the quicker it gets done.
35:59It's like, if we spend an hour cleaning up now,
36:01that's an hour behind that we are
36:03on everything else that we're prepping, so...
36:05I think because it was the first time
36:07throughout the whole season that it happened,
36:09that's why I took it a bit hard.
36:12F***!
36:20Is he crying?
36:22Dan! Did you make him cry?
36:24Hey? Did you make Christian cry?
36:26No, I'm making him clean up,
36:28like I asked a hundred times.
36:30I'm sick of asking the same question
36:32day after day after day, hour after hour.
36:35I find it hard
36:37to comfort
36:39because usually
36:41Christian's the one comforting me.
36:43Christian!
36:49What are you doing?
36:52Christian.
36:54Can you just shut the door, please?
36:59I just need five minutes, please.
37:01I just need five minutes.
37:03Can I just have five minutes, please?
37:05But you can't react like that.
37:07Can I just have five minutes, please?
37:09Can I, like, try and talk to you?
37:11Yeah, you can, but just...
37:13Can I just have five minutes?
37:19I'm leaving!
37:21How f***ing embarrassing is he?
37:23Who the f*** acts like that?
37:25He's crying.
37:27But I'm, like,
37:29embarrassed as f***.
37:31Leave his arse.
37:43Sorry, guys.
37:49Part of the show.
37:51All part of the show.
37:53Seeing Christian cry,
37:55the way I react to it
37:57isn't normal.
37:59Like, crying when you're happy is fine,
38:01but I don't... Crying when you're sad is, like,
38:03be a man, be some concrete.
38:05This is a bit embarrassing.
38:07I don't like how I react to it.
38:09You know, when I cried when I was younger,
38:11my mum would always say,
38:13why are you crying?
38:15What are you doing that for?
38:17Like, grow up, like, snap out of it
38:19instead of comforting me.
38:21And I didn't realise that I adopted that.
38:23I think that's something I definitely
38:25need to hone in on.
38:27Don't get angry for me
38:29getting upset. Stop crying.
38:37With their brand new real estate agents locked in...
38:39We've got this, team. Let's do it.
38:41Woo! Thanks, man. Yes!
38:43Woo! Last night's winners
38:45are off on their Ford getaway
38:47in the Mustang Marquis.
38:49I haven't driven it in beast mode yet.
38:51Oh, do you want to drive? I want this bad boy, hey.
38:57And I know that I'm getting a life.
38:59So our Ford getaway...
39:01We're going for a helicopter ride.
39:03Helicopter ride.
39:05Are you flying it?
39:07No, no, no. I'll tell you who is excited.
39:09Who's excited? Oli, the pilot,
39:11because it's his second flight, so he's very excited.
39:13He's going to fly directly over one of the
39:15greatest attractions on Pilobolo.
39:17That'll be a bird's eye view. It'll be a ripper.
39:19I'm not nervous about flying and the experience.
39:21It's the fact that I don't have control
39:23freaks me out.
39:27So I was extremely nervous
39:29about getting on the helicopter.
39:43Scotty did mention that we were going to see
39:45somewhere pretty epic
39:47over Phillip Island,
39:49which was the block.
39:57It was actually
39:59a really great experience.
40:07How was it?
40:09It was good. It was unreal.
40:11You know Tom and Sarah Jane, don't you?
40:13A couple of seasons ago in Gisborne,
40:15Tom's never-say-die attitude
40:17and Sarah Jane's
40:19refined style.
40:21It turns out that I'm like a styling genius.
40:23Yes, I know.
40:26I love it.
40:28It's so beautifully done.
40:30It feels like that perfect Ralph Lauren
40:32country house.
40:34Yum. Love it.
40:36The talent here is phenomenal.
40:38Tommy is great and I have said to him
40:40numerous times how much I've always wanted to meet
40:42his wife Sarah Jane, so I was ecstatic.
40:44Now, we've got a great night
40:46planned for you guys. You guys go to the
40:48bar and set up the drinks. Sounds good.
40:50I'm going to show you where you're sleeping tonight.
40:52Then we had all the range of
40:54the Phillip Island Winery.
41:00Now this is an eco hut by
41:02EcoLive and they're a local building
41:04company and they design and build these
41:06and drop them in place. They're absolutely
41:08incredible. Really cute.
41:10It's a cool detail. That's unreal.
41:12Really nice.
41:14Oh look, there's even a light-up mirror.
41:16Pretty flash-looking cabin.
41:18Here's to a win.
41:20Winner, winner. A good win.
41:22What more could you want?
41:24Last night's
41:26winners live it up.
41:28I have to cook the chumps dinner
41:30because Christian and I are chumps.
41:32I went to Audi to buy
41:34some ingredients, which was terrifying
41:36because I hate grocery shopping because I hate cooking.
41:38There's no pork shoulder.
41:40There's loin shoulder.
41:42I really don't like grocery shopping. It's very
41:44stressful. Ah, pork shoulder.
41:46One per couple.
41:48One.
41:50Two.
41:52I'm going to do a slow-roasted pork shoulder
41:54with a pickled
41:56slaw on the side.
42:00Chumps dinner.
42:02Finally we're not cooking one.
42:06Yum!
42:08The crackling. The crackling was great.
42:14That's delicious. It was nice hosting
42:16everyone.
42:20Can I just say this is the best
42:22cook-up anyone's done all year.
42:24They nailed it. They should lose every week.
42:30Oh, here they are.
42:32Winners are grinners.
42:36Welcome to Phillip Island Winery.
42:38I love it. The food's fantastic. The open
42:40fire. It's absolutely
42:42a beautiful place. Take a seat
42:44here. Someone's got to teach us how to
42:46do that salami roast.
42:48I'll show you how to eat it though.
42:50It's just really nice to hang out with Tom and Sarah Jane.
42:52Like she's very
42:54real about everything
42:56and the experience and stuff.
42:58Hey, I'm sitting with a fire
43:00behind me. I'm just going to take my jumper off.
43:02Yeah, get a bit toasty. It's beautiful.
43:06Would anybody like the beef cheeks?
43:08Of course they're cooked.
43:14How did all the other contestants go?
43:16Honestly, their rooms were
43:18amazing.
43:20To be honest, well...
43:22Who's room didn't you like?
43:24The girls' ones just didn't...
43:26There's nothing in it. Is that the sisters?
43:28That took over from the couple that left?
43:30Empty or something?
43:32It didn't have... Like a furniture package.
43:34Like matching dining table, matching coffee.
43:36So it was very display home.
43:38Yeah, right.
43:40Enjoy the wine.
43:42Enjoy the meal.
43:44The money.
43:46The money, honey.
43:48Don't give it to me.
43:50Are you sure? Because I only won 20 grand.
43:52So if you want to donate it over here, I'll take it.
43:54That's for you guys.
43:56The winning lounge room. Congratulations.
44:00But I have dessert.
44:02What is it?
44:04I got two tens last night.
44:06What's your poison, mate?
44:08Double produce.
44:10There's $20,000 worth of Tim Tams in there.
44:14It was worth coming.
44:16We'll take the rest, mate.
44:18We'll take that.
44:20That's five.
44:22$20,000 from Arnott's.
44:24Big bickies.
44:26That's 30 g's.
44:28Congratulations.
44:30This has been a triumphant week for you guys.
44:32It really has.
44:34You've won and you've got two tens as well
44:36from Marty and Shaina.
44:38Unbelievable.
44:40Cheers.
44:42Cheers.
44:44Happy days.
44:46That's much.
44:48I like to move it, move it.
44:50I like to move it, move it.
44:52With 50 grand on the line in the Domain Challenge,
44:54Christian has spent the day
44:56cleaning the entirety of House 5
44:58for the real estate photographers
45:00coming tomorrow morning.
45:02And there's more to go.
45:04Plan for Monday night was to clean
45:06all the rooms.
45:08Lots of moving furniture.
45:10I went to bed.
45:14As much as that kind of let
45:16the team down, I just physically
45:18couldn't. I couldn't push myself.
45:24There's still so much to do.
45:26I guess I was
45:28hoping she was just going to push a little bit
45:30harder, but then again I don't know
45:32how she was feeling. I think it just became
45:34a little bit overwhelming.
45:36James has gone to sleep, Christian.
45:42I'll take that
45:44as a yes.
46:06With the $50,000
46:08Domain Challenge happening on Thursday,
46:10all the teams are pedal to the metal
46:12getting their houses clean
46:14and ready for photos.
46:16Charlotte, nice to meet you. I'm Dean.
46:18Hey, nice to meet you.
46:20A few weeks back, Rikki and Hayden
46:22and Courtney and Grant picked their real estate agents.
46:24Who have you got? We've got Ray White.
46:26So we've locked in
46:28our agent. Who's that? That's Ray White.
46:30So that would be
46:32two people using Ray White.
46:34We know. Okay.
46:36Despite one agent wanting to sell
46:38two houses, there's a good reason
46:40why that shouldn't happen.
46:42So you can't do two houses,
46:44right? It's like
46:46a jockey trying to ride down
46:48the straight at Flemington in a Melbourne cart
46:50with two horses, you know? It'd be good
46:52to watch. It'd be good to watch, but
46:54it's just not going to happen.
46:56When it was all said and done,
46:58houses two and three ended up with the same
47:00agency, but more importantly
47:02different agents.
47:04Now there
47:06was a bit of confusion with the
47:08photographer with house two and house three,
47:10I believe. Was there?
47:12There sure was.
47:14We were told to get the house ready by
47:168.30. It's a bad day for
47:18a photographer and air mate. He's here in about 25
47:20minutes. I was going to say.
47:22He's coming in 25 minutes. Set trades out of the
47:24hallway so we can clean up. I think I've got to do a photo shoot
47:26in here in 20 minutes, so all this flooring
47:28has to come up. Come on, boys!
47:30Here we go! We're going to rev up!
47:32We spent a lot of time cleaning and
47:34getting everything in order.
47:36We were ready
47:38by about 8.45.
47:44I've been standing around
47:46for a little while wondering where
47:48is the photographer?
47:50So I believe the photographer
47:52is going to be at house two
47:54for probably a couple of hours.
47:57He started in house two
47:59and he won't be at hours till 11.
48:04Yes, you've still got like an hour and a half.
48:06It would be nice to know.
48:08Communication
48:10is the key. Yeah, it's not ideal.
48:12It's the busiest week on the block
48:14and we've got to finish that hallway
48:16by Thursday and at the moment we've pretty much
48:18stopped working there, so it probably costs us three or
48:20four hours minimum for multiple guys.
48:22How do you feel about
48:24sharing the resources with house
48:26two? Hmm.
48:30Not sure. Sharing's fine, but
48:32when you're in a competition, look, it is
48:34what it is. As long as their focus
48:36is to sell our house for the highest price, then
48:38you know, it is
48:40what it is.
48:43Singing my song
48:45Following my intuition
48:47It doesn't need to be a mission
48:49And if it goes wrong
48:51While the photographers are busy downstairs
48:53We can get this out and then we've got
48:55the whole room. That's right. The girls are upstairs
48:57working on their potentially block winning
48:59idea. Well, we're trying to create
49:01a guest retreat and we're wanting that
49:03to be like an important part of our, like
49:05our home. We wanted to have a spiral staircase
49:07going up the side of the house to
49:09that guest retreat
49:11so that there could be an external access
49:13The separate entryway and
49:15spiral staircase is critical
49:17for Maddie and Charlotte's grand plan
49:19of a self contained guest retreat
49:21on the upper level of house one
49:23The plans originally had a window
49:25where the girls are now wanting to put their
49:27all important new entryway
49:31I'm downstairs cleaning up and I hear
49:33someone scream from our scaffold over
49:35to GMAC in house five
49:37Hey, is this a door or
49:39a window? They're saying it's a door
49:41but there's a window going in
49:43And then GMAC's like, no, it's a window
49:45I don't know what you're talking about
49:47And I was like, what? And then so I went to
49:49see foreman Dan. What's up?
49:51We've got a disaster on our hands
49:53What's wrong? Well, the
49:55boys are cladding that window
49:57that's meant to be a door
49:59And then Aiden apparently doesn't know
50:01about it or something, I don't know
50:03It's all in the plans. We'll have a look
50:05Can we go and talk to the other boys?
50:07This will be a disaster if it doesn't happen
50:09And then that's when Dan went
50:11to speak to Aiden. And that's when it
50:13started to go downhill. I guess there was a bit
50:15of a miscommunication it sounded like
50:17I'm a little bit confused
50:19I'll put that out there. So
50:21a couple of weeks ago there was some talk
50:23about, you know, spiral stairs
50:25and lofts and stuff like that
50:27I'd parked that in my brain because
50:29I'd asked for some more details
50:31which I think a bit of lost in
50:33translations happened
50:35Just because you
50:37could do something also doesn't mean
50:39you can
50:41The building surveyors aren't, like, aware
50:43of this. This hasn't been checked off. The planners aren't
50:45aware of this. The architect's not aware of this
50:47And we were like, what?
50:49Because we were told from Dan that
50:51that had all got approved and, like,
50:53Julian Brenchley had drawn it on the architect plans
50:55and already submitted it. Charlotte literally
50:57got him to sign this piece of paper and
50:59was like, right, I'm taking a picture
51:01So then we don't go back on this and then somebody
51:03can't tell me that it didn't get approved
51:05because I was like, are you 100% sure? And he was like
51:07yes, I am 100% sure
51:09And this is the photo that I got. It says
51:11stairs approved, external, signed
51:15Wow, that hasn't happened
51:19From my perspective, like, we've already
51:21clad this wall, right? Yeah
51:23For us to change that to a door, I have to pull cladding
51:25off the wall. I have to pull battens off the wall
51:27I have to pull the window out
51:29Then I have to get it made into a door, firstly, right?
51:31So I don't have budget for that
51:33It was really frustrating to us
51:35because we had brought up all these issues
51:37way in advance so we could mitigate
51:39those costs. We did not need to pay
51:41for the cladding to come off because we
51:43addressed this when the cladding wasn't even on
51:45My guess is that this is a, you know,
51:4720 to 30 grand exercise
51:49Right. The other issue I've got is
51:51we're also going to have to send that to council, I'd say
51:53Yeah. Because that's
51:55town planning issue. We'll have
51:57four rooms that are compromised
51:59by the fact that this
52:01was an oversight
52:03Need to really think about whether it's
52:05worth the effort and the energy
52:07to pursue
52:09Right. Thanks girls. Thank you for that
52:11Cheers. Thank you
52:13Like, I understand it's a huge building site
52:15and things get, like, missed, but like
52:17we've asked, like, every single
52:19day about this. We've spent so much
52:21time and energy that could have been put
52:23somewhere else. It's been put into that
52:25I guess we should
52:27probably, like, go and tell
52:29the boys to stop
52:43The Block Phillip Island is an
52:45absolutely enormous building site
52:47with five houses coming together
52:49simultaneously
52:58Nine and Six's job is to build all the
53:00structures and handle all the cladding
53:04And the girls have just found out
53:06that the separate entry for their guest
53:08retreat has fallen through the cracks
53:14Obviously, when you're dealing with, like,
53:16four different parties, there's always going to be
53:18a miscommunication when you're dealing
53:20with five building sites all at once
53:22Thanks girls. Cheers
53:24If there's no external access
53:26if there's no point doing anything that we're doing up there
53:28we may as well just scrap the whole thing
53:30We've spent so much time and energy
53:32that could have been put somewhere else
53:34It's been put into that
53:36I guess we should probably, like,
53:38go and tell the boys to stop
53:48Howdy
53:50Hello
53:52Obviously there's been a bit of confusion
53:54which, you know, sorry for that
53:56but it is what it is
53:58Dan, you know, approved the stairs
54:00with you guys
54:02so the stairs
54:04we think we can make work
54:08Thankfully, Aidan and the team
54:10were very gracious and they
54:12worked out a plan and they came back
54:14and I think they could see how upset we were
54:16by the situation
54:18and, yeah, it got approved
54:20It's fair enough that the door
54:22is on us
54:24and we'll just have to work out what to do
54:26with the concrete and the footing
54:28at the bottom of it
54:30and a bit of liaising we've got to do with
54:32the landscapers about the design
54:34with that
54:36So I think that means we can just move forward
54:38Sorry for the confusion
54:40These things happen
54:42Thank you, we appreciate all that
54:44Thank you
54:46So we are going ahead
54:48with the spiral staircase
54:50Thank goodness for that
54:52but that was a very stressful couple of hours
54:54We can do it
54:56We can do the door
55:10After cleaning all night, Christian has been
55:12flat out all day along with
55:14dealing with the photographers
55:16And Mimi, well...
55:26And the overwhelming task of completing
55:28five spaces this week
55:30as well as the $50,000 domain challenge
55:32on Thursday is starting to
55:34take its toll on their relationship
55:46Who did our bed like that?
55:48Me, for the photos
55:50What's wrong with it? That's not how we do it
55:52Because I was supposed to be on the listing
55:54I don't care, I was doing everything all day
55:56And I wasn't doing anything
55:58No, I'm just saying last night
56:00you slept all night
56:02Yeah, good job
56:04That's what I get
56:06after working all day
56:08I didn't set the bed up properly
56:10Are you serious?
56:12Mimi
56:14As if you actually
56:16walk in the house like that
56:20What do you want me to say?
56:22You go to sleep at 9 o'clock last night
56:24and all you say when you walk in the house is
56:26as if you've left the bed like that
56:30Seriously, you slept all night?
56:32Did they take pictures of our bathroom?
56:34Yeah, look at it, I've cleaned that as well
56:36What?
56:38Don't come in here like that
56:40I didn't even get to ask you how your day was
56:42I don't care
56:44and I'm not going to tell you how my day was
56:46Do better
56:48Yeah, you do better sleeping all night
56:56So what are you doing tonight then?
56:58Are you going to go to sleep again while I work all night?
57:00Yep
57:02F**k
57:04I see
57:10Tomorrow night
57:12The main buyers jury gets underway
57:14Hello, good thank you
57:16How are you?
57:18With some very heavy hitters on the invite list
57:22They've done a fantastic job
57:24and yeah, it's something a bit different
57:26so it's exciting
57:28Excuse me everyone, one minute to voting
