West Sussex WW2 veteran to receive medal in Chichester

A war veteran from Birdham is set to receive a medal for his service and role in the liberation of the Netherlands.

00:00I'm delighted to be able to say yes, my name is Tom Jones and I've now lived for 98 years,

00:07going on next month 99 years. I was a LAC, it was my correct title, 17, 17, 9, 3, 8 LAC,

00:18and I was the lowest form of animal life I think would probably be suggested in flying,

00:26although when I had nobody on board, well other than the crew, I was flying it from

00:36Ceylon to the Dutch East Indies and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it because it was a

00:43wonderful thing. I'd just done my job, got on with my job, done as I was told and here I am.

00:51I'm sure none of them are alive still because they were all older than me at the time.
