European asteroid mission Hera launches despite poor weather

A European mission to investigate a distant asteroid hit by the first test of Earth's planetary defenses blasts off, despite gloomy weather linked to a hurricane bearing down on Florida. A broadcast by SpaceX shows the Falcon 9 rocket launching into cloudy skies from Cape Canaveral in the US state of Florida, where Hurricane Milton has forced evacuations ahead of expected landfall on Wednesday.
