Storm chaser Aaron Jayjack reported from Treasure Island, Florida, on Oct. 7, where large piles of debris still lined the streets from Helene's damage just days before Milton's landfall.
Transcript
00:00I am here on Treasure Island, Florida, on the west coast of Florida Peninsula, just
00:06west of Tampa, and it is an incredible, unbelievable, sad scene here on Treasure Island.
00:16You can see behind me piles and piles of debris on the road, and this is the scene all across
00:23Treasure Island.
00:25But homes and businesses all along Treasure Island are gutted out with debris everywhere
00:32along the road and giant piles of sand because they were just recently impacted by Hurricane
00:37Helene, a major hurricane that hit further to the north near Perry, Florida.
00:41But I have never seen, in all my years of chasing, a scene like this where devastation
00:46has occurred recently, and yet another major hurricane is coming, it's making its way to
00:53this location here, making landfall on Wednesday, late on Wednesday.
00:58And it's going to be already a strong, powerful storm that causes problems.
01:02You know, when a major hurricane comes through, that wind will send debris flying, but it
01:07takes time for it to rip that debris free.
01:09But here on Treasure Island, there's just piles and piles of debris, missiles about
01:17to be tossed likely into the buildings here on Treasure Island, causing even more immense
01:22damage, including the potential for devastating surge flooding here on Treasure Island.
01:27It's an apocalyptic scene here, something that I have never seen before.
