00:00From being a dishwasher and a houseboy in America,
00:03he now owns a famous restaurant that is one of our countrymen in Seattle, Washington.
00:07It is a place where Filipino food favorites are coming back.
00:11The secret of his sweet success,
00:13let's find out in the first news of JP Soriano.
00:19In the abundance of food in America,
00:21there is a restaurant in Seattle, Washington that is being selected.
00:27But what is being sold here is not American food,
00:31but Filipino food.
00:33Welcome to Ludie's Restaurant.
00:36It has been recognized by local and national media in America
00:41in the past four years.
00:43In the abundance of food,
00:45waiting in line takes up to an hour,
00:48aside from kare-kare, lumpia, and others.
00:52Specialty, and he really brings back silog meals.
00:57And the breakfast that sounds American,
01:00but tastes Filipino,
01:02the Ube Pancake.
01:04Actually, it's not just Americans.
01:06We have people from India, Nepal,
01:10and then some of them are from Europe.
01:13So it's nice to know that they like Filipino food.
01:16Filipino food is so good.
01:18The more that people know about it, the better.
01:20Amazing. Really amazing.
01:22The meat is super tender, really, really tasteful.
01:25Rice is perfectly cooked, but the garlic, like, unbelievable.
01:28First time.
01:29We heard it was great, so.
01:30Lumpia, and I want to come back for the pancit.
01:34It's a lechon.
01:36It's amazing, like, the atmosphere is great.
01:39The odor is really nice.
01:40I'm so sad.
01:44The owner that the customers are referring to
01:46is Gregorio Rosas, or Tito Greg, if you want to call him that.
01:50In 1978, a Jewish family from the Philippines brought Gregorio to Seattle, Washington.
01:56When he grew up and took care of his mother, Ludie,
02:00Gregorio started out as a dishwasher
02:03and a houseboy at a diner.
02:06Until the owner of the diner saw Gregorio's potential in cooking
02:10and he hired him as an assistant cook.
02:13I don't have a mother, I don't have a father.
02:16I raised my sister Ludie, who has a career.
02:19Because of Gregorio's hard work and loyalty to his American employer,
02:23the owner of the diner,
02:25he gave him the position of the restaurant.
02:28In 2008, he invested all of his savings in America
02:33and built the Ludie's Restaurant
02:35as an introduction to those who taught him how to cook
02:38and gave him a good reputation in the Philippines.
02:42Gregorio didn't think that the American people
02:46would like our Silog dishes.
02:49But he was sure that he would be proud to be a Filipino
02:53who is happy and friendly.
02:56It's a secret to his success.
02:59You love what you're doing.
03:01And be genuine to yourself
03:03because people will see it.
03:06When they know, they'll feel that you're very welcoming.
03:09From Seattle, Washington in America,
03:12this is the first news.
