Explosions continue in Beirut as Israel expands ground offensive across Lebanon

Israel says it aims to drive Hezbollah away from the border so the thousands of Israelis displaced by months of almost daily cross-border fire can return to their homes.

00:00Fresh explosions have rocked Beirut's southern suburbs into Sunday as Israel expands its
00:07bombardment into new areas of Lebanon.
00:10The blasts in the capital began around midnight after Israel's military urged residents to
00:15evacuate areas in Dahiya, a collection of suburbs on Beirut's southern edge.
00:21Israel's attack on the Badawi refugee camp in the north killed an official with Hamas's
00:25military wing along with his wife and two daughters.
00:29An IDF spokesperson said that since the start of the ground operation on 30 September, Israeli
00:35forces have killed 440 Hezbollah militants and destroyed more than 2,000 targets.
00:41And in a post on X, the military said it found and dismantled a 250-meter-long tunnel in
00:46southern Lebanon that it says Hezbollah had intended to use to enter Israeli territory.
00:52At least 1,400 Lebanese, including civilians, medics and Hezbollah fighters, have been killed
00:58and 1.2 million driven from their homes in less than two weeks.
