00:0095, nine, Texas country, Eric rains. Beautiful day here. Austin city limits, music festival,
00:10Hudson Westbrook. Yes, sir. You just got off stage. Are you still sweating a little bit?
00:15It's hot out here, but it's worth every bit of sweat. Good, good set. Got to hear you,
00:19man. What was it like? What's the energy like? Cause I'm assuming usually when you're playing
00:22a festival, you kind of have everybody's attention with one of these. I mean, you can hear there's
00:27three stages going at the same time and you, you know, people are walking in while you're
00:31on stage out there and you, do you get to enjoy your show? Are you looking at the person
00:36that keeps walking and focusing? You definitely get to enjoy, enjoy your show. You watch people
00:41walk up and you watch people walk away and you find people that like your music. But
00:47today we had a great turnout. I mean, we played cotton fest in Lubbock. That was a great turnout
00:50cause that's where I'm living at right now. But this one was special. They're screaming
00:54the lyrics and it was amazing. I, it was better than I expected. So, so I asked you
00:59off there, how old are you? Yeah, I'm 20 years old. So getting the ball rolling, uh, your
01:04latest, well, you got a new single that just dropped your latest single. Was it 40? Yeah,
01:09it was, um, that was dopamine. And then the one before that was five to nine. So, I mean,
01:14I'm looking at the streams that you have online and people are talking about, I'm not going
01:18to say it happens fast. Cause everybody has to work hard before that happens fast. But
01:23selling out shows in Fort Worth, putting 1600 hard tickets in, uh, it's working for you.
01:28No, yeah, dude. It's been great. We, um, on five to nine, the one that released prior
01:33to this single, we're, um, people are loving it. We were hit. I think we just hit, um,
01:40I think 2.5 million streams in a month and a half on that song. It's been great. Well,
01:445 million overall. Um, and then two way drive is sitting at 17 on Texas radio. Is it crazy?
01:50When did you start? Yeah. So I started playing guitar my junior year of high school, but,
01:55um, really started writing that summer going into college and I would sit in the dorm room
02:00cause there's nothing else to do in a dorm room. Then, you know, play your guitar and
02:05piss off your neighbor. And so, um, we ended up, I ended up writing a song, DM'd all my
02:10band on Instagram and we went and filmed some stuff in the studio and it did well. So from
02:15then it's just been keep pumping out the music. We put out one good song. Let's put out 20
02:19more, you know? Well, you're on the stage, the big stage at Austin City limits music
02:24festival. I walked up there and I was like, dang dude, this is sick. Well, I saw your
02:28name. I'm like Hudson's playing this day. Not a lot of people get to play those big
02:32stages quick. Obviously it has a lot to do with the stars shining brightly. And you said,
02:36I don't know if it's for everyone to know, but you said so serious and I'm about to leave
02:41school. Yeah. You know, you're going to Texas tech, 20 years old. How was that conversation
02:46with mom and dad? Yeah, the conversation with mom and dad was interesting, but, um,
02:51they come to, I guess my whole family didn't realize what was going on. Cause you see numbers
02:56on social media and you see, you don't know if that'll transfer to ticket sales. You don't
03:00know what that'll turn into. But, um, over the past three months we've been selling tickets
03:05and they show up to the show and they watch and they're like, wow, you really do have
03:08like a good thing going on. This isn't just, isn't hometown, right? Yeah. I can't blame
03:12you dude. Chase your dream. You're only young once. And if I'm going to do one thing, I'm
03:17going to do it with everything. So can't do two things and halfway do both. So, well,
03:22I mean, we set it off the air. There's a lot of college football players that go to the
03:27pros early. Yeah. Go, go when you can. It's hard to do it full time when you're not really
03:32full time. Yeah, it is. It's, it's hard to, to go seeing a set in front of 1500 people
03:39and go work on geometry. Yeah, I didn't work on it when I was, I was never caught up on
03:43that finishing part ever. I haven't got caught up on anything since, since the tour started.
03:50But yeah, I wouldn't have it any other way. Dopamine out now. Yeah. As in, uh, as of, um,
03:56yeah, September 13th. So, yeah. And you're back next weekend. Yes. We play next Friday,
04:02um, at the same stage, the same time. So a little more what to expect when you get up on the big
04:07stage. I know I'm hyped. And I asked you who you want to see because you're going to hang around.
04:12Yeah. I'm going to hang around today and tomorrow. So I'm going to, I'm definitely looking forward to
04:17Chris Stapleton, um, Sturgill Simpson. I think he plays on Sunday. Yeah. Um, and then foster the
04:22people. I love it. Get your pumped up kicks on. Yeah. That that's the song that gets me going
04:28with them. Uh, thank you for doing this. I know you got a bunch of other media credentials to do
04:32this Hudson Westbrook live out here, Austin city limits, music festival. And of course,
04:37right back here next weekend as well. Next Friday. Yeah. Hey, best of luck, buddy. Yes, sir. Come by
04:41the studios and hang out with us already. I will Hudson Westbrook live with Austin's 95, nine,
04:46Texas country.
