00:00Tunisians took to the streets of their capital on Friday, demanding fairness in Sunday's
00:06presidential election.
00:08The protesters consider the election unfair, as the Electoral Commission, whose members
00:13were nominated by incumbent President Kays Said, disqualified candidates whom they said
00:18could pose a threat to Said's re-election.
00:21They marched to Habib Bourguiba Avenue, a key site in the 2011 protests that toppled
00:27President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
01:28since the controversial disqualification of prominent candidates, and an independent court
01:33being stripped of the authority to adjudicate election disputes by Parliament.
01:38Said now faces only two other candidates, namely Ayati Zamel and Zuhair Maghzoui.
01:44Zamel, who is a former lawmaker, has been recently sentenced to three jail terms totaling
01:4914 years for forging electoral documents.
01:53Despite that, Zamel has been allowed to contest in the election.
