CM Punk and Drew McIntyre head into Hell in a Cell this weekend at WWE Bad Blood. Peter Klein previews the full show giving his picks for each match and he explains why he has liked the build for this show so much.
Transcript
00:00All right, let's get into Bad Blood.
00:03According to Wikipedia, just a five match card right now.
00:07We will start with the tag team match, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns against the Bloodline
00:11of Sola Secoa and Jacob Fatu.
00:16It seems too obvious that Cody and Roman are going to get the win in this match.
00:21I think they probably will.
00:23But I do think that this is going to be the next advancement in the Bloodline story, where
00:28you have Cody and Roman probably go out and probably get the win.
00:32There will be a lot of shenanigans and stuff like that.
00:35And then after the match, whether it be Hickoleo or whoever comes out and kicks the shit out
00:41of Roman or Cody or whoever, I do think that you are going to have the next members of
00:49them come out.
00:50And then whether it is a Jimmy return or it's Jay coming out to help on the other side or
00:57something along those lines, I do think that you are going to have maybe a bit of a Bloodline
01:05spinoff.
01:06And to your point, Conrad, Conrad's saying in the chat, I actually think KO prevents
01:09Cody and Roman from getting the win because of his hatred for Roman.
01:13That could very well be.
01:14This one, as I've said about some other ones in the past, it's going to be a Bloodline
01:17match, right?
01:18So it's going to feel very Attitude Era, where this guy's going to run in and this
01:22guy's going to run in and this guy's going to run in and this guy's going to run in.
01:25But I do think that we get the full-blown heel turn here of Kevin Owens in that.
01:30And so maybe, yes, maybe I am overthinking that these guys are going to get the win.
01:35I think it's going to be a fun match.
01:37I will say that.
01:38I am a huge fan of Jacob Fatu.
01:42And Solo Sokola, I still think there is something there.
01:45Even though, when I was saying before, like going into last year, the ultimate goal of
01:50the Bloodline should be Solo being a star because he just kind of had that aura about
01:55him.
01:56And then he talked and that aura kind of went away.
02:00And he just, he hasn't carried himself in the same way as the leader.
02:03It just, it hasn't, it hasn't really clicked.
02:06And I don't know what it is.
02:07Because I like the suit look with the gloves and all, like the hitman style, all of that.
02:11Not Brett, but you know, um, like I like that style and I like his in-ring style.
02:16There's just something that's not meshing with me on this whole thing.
02:22And so I do think that you still get a good match out of this.
02:26But Conrad, maybe you're right.
02:28Maybe we do get K.O. preventing Cody from getting the win here with Roman.
02:32And then we get a separate beatdown after.
02:35But I do believe, if I am not mistaken, the next one, okay, well the next PLE technically
02:42is Halloween Havoc, oh but then we have Crown Jewel, sorry, that that is coming up on November
02:492nd.
02:50And then after that, it is Survivor Series Wargames.
02:52So we still have basically two months, right?
02:55We have a month and a half to build up to Wargames in what we are all presuming is going
03:00to be the, um, the bloodline Civil War thing, right?
03:07We're all assuming that that's probably going to be what that is.
03:10And so I do think that this needs to advance a little bit more.
03:13And we need to get some of those players involved if we are going to get that.
03:16Now, this is where we, as I think an internet wrestling community, can get a little bit
03:21off target sometimes.
03:25Because there is, I think, where we just presume, oh well this is the direction they're going
03:29to go, so this is obviously how it's going to be.
03:32I am saying, hey, we need to get this thing moving if we're going to get this to Wargames.
03:36Nothing about this has screamed Wargames up to this point, aside from one group has
03:41four.
03:42Right?
03:43That's basically it.
03:44So I kind of thought this would advance a little bit further by this point, to be perfectly
03:49honest with you.
03:50But if we are going to get that in motion, it kind of has to happen now.
03:55So I would imagine we get one or two either debuts or returns this week, or this weekend
04:02here at Bad Blood, for this to be an actual thing, and kind of get that rolling a little
04:06bit more.
04:07So I'm excited for it.
04:08I think it's going to be fun, but we will see.
04:10Conrad, I think Triple H needs Fatu to turn because of Solo's poor mic work.
04:15Yeah, it hasn't been great with what he has been doing in that sense, that that has certainly
04:21not helped.
04:22Fatu, yeah, it does kind of seem now that if Hikaleo comes in and joins them, and there's
04:28already been some of those seeds planted, that Jacob Fatu could be joining the other
04:34side.
04:35I think that would be a really interesting kind of whatever.
04:38And maybe there is, like, there's this beatdown, and it's just they throw Fatu to the side
04:42and they keep doing it, and then he gets pissed and they all brawl, whatever.
04:46But no, Jacob Fatu's a star, I think.
04:48Like you see the stuff he's able to do in the ring, and it's incredible.
04:52And the mic work is unique.
04:54It can be a little too chaotic at times, and a little bit too bleh at times, but it's still
05:00good.
05:01And it's his character, and you just kind of got to get used to that, I think.
05:04But he is so good.
05:07And so yes, I do think that, Conrad, you have convinced me that I was wrong in just assuming
05:13that Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns would end up getting the win in this one.
05:18I do think that, I mean, they did play up the Atlanta thing pretty hard, and it's not
05:23like this era of WWE to not have the hometown guys win, although I guess, like, Sami lost
05:29in Montreal and all of that, in a bigger spot than this.
05:32So we'll see.
05:33But I do think you're right.
05:34I do think we probably get bloodline win by way of a bit of a screwy finish.
05:39Liv Morgan defending the Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley with Dominic Mysterio
05:45up in a shark cage high above the ring.
05:48It's a little bit goofy, but I do think that it is a fun way to kind of neutralize Dominic
05:53Mysterio and try to neutralize the Judgment Day a little bit more here in this bout.
05:59And I do think that Liv has kind of cooled off a little bit as this feud has kind of
06:04gone on.
06:05She has kind of faded just a touch more into the background of the Judgment Day stuff.
06:12They are certainly trying to put a renewed focus on Judgment Day.
06:15But the Rhea story has turned into Rhea and Dom, and it's just kind of gone around Liv.
06:21And she did, like, she cut a very good promo.
06:23Was it this Monday where she was talking about how she was the homewrecker and stuff like that?
06:28I still think she's really good.
06:29And so if you wanted to keep the belt on her, I think you could.
06:32But I do think we are at a point now where it's time to give Rhea that championship
06:37one more time and let her kind of continue to go with that.
06:40But I do think that Liv should stay around, like, the title picture, or at least high
06:45up on the card, because I do think she is very good.
06:49And I do think that there is a lot of potential there with Liv Morgan.
06:54I just wish they would kind of use it maybe a little bit better in the last couple of
06:57weeks.
06:58But I do think Rhea gets the win.
06:59Singles match.
07:00Damien Priest against Finn Balor.
07:01Boy, they have been building up Finn for the last little while.
07:04And you could definitely see a world where Finn ends up getting the win, pardon the rhyming
07:09scheme there.
07:10And they continue to try to build him up a little bit more.
07:14Damien Priest, I said before, it feels like it has cooled off a little bit.
07:18And so I think this will be interesting to see where they kind of view each guy right
07:23now.
07:24Because it certainly seems, as this whole build has gone on, it went from, like, obviously
07:28Priest was the project, he was the champion.
07:31Since he lost it, though, like, he has come out and he has kicked everyone's ass.
07:34And he has felt like that big guy again.
07:37But it hasn't, like I said, it hasn't really clicked.
07:40But Finn is the heel, and kind of the badass new leader of this group, that's clicked.
07:45And so I wonder if there's going to be a bit of a pivot here.
07:48And let's lock in Finn as one of the next guys coming up here, in terms of being someone
07:54who I think can move into an intercontinental title feud with Jey Uso.
07:59Or into a world championship feud, or something along those lines.
08:03Like, I think, obviously I think the world of Finn is a performer.
08:05So I wonder if there is a bit of a shift there.
08:08And maybe Finn gets the win.
08:09I still think it'll probably be Damien Priest, just to give him that dub coming off of all
08:14the shenanigans and everything that has gone on.
08:16And maybe we then start to break off a little bit, maybe?
08:19Because I think it's gone on a touch too long.
08:21But we will certainly see how all that goes.
08:23And then, it is Nia Jax against Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship.
08:29I think we probably get another Tiffy tease, something along those lines.
08:33And honestly, you know, this wouldn't be the worst time to do that.
08:37The Nia Jax title reign, I think has clicked, again, maybe a little bit more than I was
08:42expecting.
08:44I do think that the Her and Tiffy thing, they kind of raced through it very quickly.
08:50And I think we are now at a point where that break can happen.
08:53Like, we are obviously baby-facing Tiffany.
08:55And so maybe they let it breathe for a little bit more.
08:58And the cash-in happens at Crown Jewel.
09:01Or at a Survivor Series.
09:03Or something along those lines.
09:04But I don't...
09:05I would not be stunned if it happened here.
09:07I'm certainly not picking Bayley to win.
09:09I think that one has kind of come and gone.
09:11I think the main focus now is Tiffany against Nia Jax.
09:16You could maybe squeeze out another, like, Naomi thing in here.
09:20But it's been a little bit frustrating, the women's division on SmackDown.
09:22Like, it just feels like everyone has kind of stuck for a while.
09:26And there hasn't really been anyone really moving up or anything like that.
09:30Like, Bayley is just kind of there.
09:32Naomi is just kind of there.
09:34Tiffany Stratton, I think, has the most upward mobility.
09:37I think it does seem like we're trying to baby-face her a little bit here, in being
09:41bullied by Nia Jax.
09:42I do wonder how that would work, since she is very good at being naturally unlikable.
09:46But I...
09:47I think that something needs to change here quickly.
09:50Because I think that there needs to be a little bit of life shot into the women's SmackDown
09:54division right now.
09:56But I think Nia gets the win.
09:57And I will say Tiffany doesn't cash in.
09:59And then we get to the main event.
10:00It is, in Hell in a Cell, CM Punk against Drew McIntyre.
10:04I think they have built this up great.
10:06Obviously, it starts a little bit goofy with the bracelets.
10:08And all of those things.
10:09But I think they did an excellent job of really working in a bit more seriousness.
10:19And like, it was...
10:21They were trying to be serious about a bracelet, and then they got rid of it, and then they
10:23were just serious about each other.
10:25And for both of them to say, like, everyone in my life is telling me, don't do Hell in
10:28a Cell.
10:29And don't, like, you don't have to do this.
10:32But I do kind of have to.
10:33I think it has, A, added real legitimacy to this feud.
10:37And B, I think it has added real legitimacy to Hell in a Cell.
10:41A gimmick that needed it desperately.
10:44So I think they've done an awesome job of making Hell in a Cell feel like this is the
10:48be-all, end-all.
10:50And this is a thing that changes careers.
10:52And is something that, like, you only go in there if you hate this person so much.
10:58And you have to do it.
10:59So I think that they have done a great job in that.
11:02In terms of who wins, um, I, you can certainly make a case for CM Punk, obviously, as the
11:11big star and all of those things.
11:14I kind of think you have to go Drew, right?
11:17I would not be surprised if Punk took a bit of time after this particular feud, and then
11:23comes back, even in just like a month or so, at Survivor Series.
11:26Or maybe even in the lead up to the Royal Rumble, or something along those lines.
11:31I think Drew is the more long-term play here, right now.
11:36And so I do think that you go with Drew.
11:38The one thing I will kind of pause on is, A, I feel like I've had a lot of heels winning
11:44tonight.
11:45Um, but also, I don't know what's next for Gunther, after a Sami Zayn whatever.
11:50Now that, I don't think that, the match isn't on Wikipedia, so I don't know if that one
11:54is happening at this one, or if they're going to save that for Crown Jewel.
11:59And so I guess, like, if you do, like, if Sami wins, then maybe Drew McIntyre is the
12:04perfect opponent for a Sami Zayn.
12:05Or even if Sami loses, it's the perfect kind of fallback for both Sami and for Drew.
12:10Although, I do think that this match should be physical enough that both guys take some
12:14time away.
12:15Right?
12:16Like, we get a video package of whatever, and they stay in our consciousness by way
12:21of video packages, but they should both kind of stay away for a little bit.
12:25But I do think that there needs to be maybe a little bit more built up on the babyface
12:30side right now, on Raw, because right now, your top babyface is, you have Sami, who's
12:36going for the championship.
12:38I think at this point, Braun's a babyface, right?
12:40We're asking if dogs are barking in every market that we're in?
12:43So he's probably, people get excited when he spears people, that's fun.
12:47So I think he's probably that.
12:48And then it's Jay.
12:49And then I guess Braun Strowman.
12:51You could sell a lot of people on Braun Strowman against Gunther, I guess.
12:55But there isn't a whole lot built up as readymade challengers for Gunther if he does
12:59beat Sami Zayn.
13:00And so, where do you go from there?
13:03With that, right?
13:04And so, CM Punk, he's been talking about getting his championship opportunities.
13:08Maybe he goes, beats Drew McIntyre in the cell, and alright, there's one more big
13:12guy I need to conquer now, and that is Gunther.
13:14And you do it that way.
13:15I don't think there's a wrong answer here.
13:17I think this match is going to be incredible.
13:19I do think that it is going to be very violent in terms of WWE.
13:24I do think that, in terms of what we've seen from AEW, I would probably take the under
13:29on 0.5 people lit on fire in this match, or glass used, or anything.
13:33Although I could see CM Punk being petty enough that there's glass at some point as a bit
13:38of a wink and a nod to Jack Perry, and something along those lines.
13:43So I could see that happening, but I think this will be a very violent, I do think this
13:46will be a very bloody match, and I think it's going to be one that we talk about for a very
13:50long time.
13:51I will say Drew McIntyre wins, but you can make a case for CM Punk getting the dud.
14:00Wink and a finger.
14:01Excellent point, Conrad.
14:02Yes.
14:03No.
14:04A wink and a finger.
14:05And I'm sure you can figure out which one that would be.
14:08That's an excellent point there, Conrad.
