00:00Well, this is staggering.
00:03After more than three decades behind bars, a very real possibility Lyle and Eric Menendez
00:08could go free.
00:09The Menendez brothers were tuning in to a big update from L.A. County District Attorney
00:13George Gascon.
00:14Who says they are reviewing evidence the brothers were molested by their father.
00:18Evidence that was greatly limited in that second trial in which they were sentenced
00:22to life.
00:23The D.A.'s also looking at allocations Jose Menendez molested a member of Menudo, which
00:27would give more credibility to the brothers' claim.
00:30We are not at this point ready to say that we either believe or do not believe that information.
00:35If he decides to retry him for murder, there would be an option for the jury to say manslaughter.
00:42Or the conviction could be reduced to manslaughter.
00:45Either way, they've already served more than enough time to cover that sentence, so they
00:49walk.
00:50Their attorney Mark Geragos explained on TMZ Live what he believes is the best way forward.
00:54The law in California allows a judge in this situation to recall the sentence on his own,
01:01reduce it to a voluntary manslaughter, and to give them time served.
01:05To me, that's exactly what should happen right now.
01:08And now this case has gotten the attention of Kim Kardashian.
01:13She visited the brothers a couple weeks back and wrote a letter saying,
01:17I have spent time with Lyle and Eric.
01:19They are not monsters.
01:20They are kind, intelligent, and honest men.
01:22The trial and punishment these brothers received were more befitting a serial killer than two
01:26individuals who endured years of sexual abuse by the very people they loved and trusted.
01:36Not an appropriate reaction, but we're sure the brothers appreciate Kim's views on the
01:40matter.
01:41Sounds delightful.
02:08So one way or another, guess we'll be seeing you boys in court pretty soon.
