00:00We've talked about this over the years on TMZ,
00:03that you cannot take a snapshot of somebody
00:05at one of their worst moments and assume
00:08that is going to define them for the rest of their lives.
00:11We have seen it time and time again,
00:14where a celebrity does something really bad
00:18and everybody says, oh, that's the way it's gonna be
00:20for the rest of the, they're gonna be painted
00:22with a brush.
00:22You're a terrible person.
00:23And it never works that way.
00:24You're looking at Will Smith slapping Chris Rock
00:26at the Oscars on live television
00:28and everybody said that was the end of Will Smith.
00:31I never believed it.
00:32And it's not true that it's the end of Will Smith.
00:35Will Smith has been doing movies.
00:37And last night, he was honored at the Grammy Museum
00:42for his body of work.
00:44So there you go.
00:46We're gonna play something for you
00:47because I just find this really interesting.
00:50Will gave a speech and got really emotional
00:54about raising children and particularly his son.
00:59And I just think this is such a good point
01:02that I've heard over the years
01:04and he really delivered this well.
01:06I remember I brought him home and put him in the bassinet
01:10and I had just bought a picture in picture television.
01:15There was a thousand page manual
01:19and Cedar Sinai sent me home with a baby
01:22and not even a pamphlet.
01:24And I remember that first night,
01:30I can't even talk about it.
01:33And I just fell down on my knees
01:37and I made one of the most hardcore promises
01:39I've ever made to a human being.
01:42I was gonna do everything I could do
01:46to be a good daddy to you.
01:48Y'all, this is interesting for a number of reasons
01:50because one, Will and Trey,
01:52they have a good relationship now,
01:53but when Trey was first born,
01:54Will and Trey, they had a kind of a tough relationship
01:56because Will and Trey's mom,
01:57they broke up when Trey was only two years old.
01:59And at the time, Will was around 26,
02:02so his career was hotter than ever.
02:04He had no idea how to be a parent
02:05and he's admitted that throughout the year.
02:07So it was good to see they kind of have reconciled
02:09and they're like full-fledged,
02:10just having a great time together.
02:12Yeah, and we should just say, Wild,
02:14I mean, it was tough on Trey
02:15because then Will went on to have two other kids,
02:19Willow and Jayden,
02:20and he was with them a lot.
02:23And Trey was kind of on the sidelines,
02:24but it seems like they have kind of aligned now.
02:27Now that he's a 31-year-old man, he's an adult.
02:30Look, and on Will, that's really nice to see.
02:33It gets you almost choked up just watching it.
02:35What he did with Chris Rock was a terrible moment.
02:37It was a terrible thing that he did,
02:39but it doesn't define him.
02:41Will Smith was always thought of as a good guy, Harvey,
02:43and I think-
02:44It's part of the mosaic of his life.
02:46Hi, I'm Tally and I'm calling from Atlanta.
02:48And honestly, I think Will Smith's case in duality.
02:51I love that it always seems like
02:53he's doing something wholesome and fun.
02:55I don't know any other celebrity hyping up a crowd
02:57on a random Thursday and dropping a new song.
02:59And I didn't too much mind to slap.
03:01So, you know, I just love that he seems to be
03:04such a happy person and tries his best to love on his family,
03:07even though that's a difficult thing sometimes
03:09to get it right every single time.
