00:00This is Haifa, Israel's third largest city, home to its busiest seaport and the center
00:06of a metropolitan area of roughly one million people.
00:10As such, and located just 40 kilometers south of the Lebanon border, city authorities understand
00:17they are a clear target.
00:18Haifa is the biggest city in the north.
00:20We understand that it will be the main strategical point of Hezbollah to shoot over here.
00:27Our main purpose today is to prepare the citizens of the city a lot of explanation of what to
00:34do in case of emergency, in case of alarm.
00:37Hundreds of public shelters, such as this one, are scattered throughout the city.
00:41This is where people head once the siren sounds, warning of incoming rockets.
00:46The shelter opens automatically as soon as the siren is heard.
00:50The proximity to the border means the time to reach the shelter is short.
00:54We can see that the people in Haifa are listening and doing exactly what the home front command
01:01is asking them to do.
01:04We are making a lot of explanation about one minute that they have in case of the alarm
01:09and another ten minutes to stay in the shelters.
01:13These instructions and directives save lives, nothing short of that.
01:18It has been proved hundreds of times already, with the latest example seen right here just
01:23a few days ago.
01:24We can see today that the people are very listening to us and doing exactly what we
01:29are asking them.
01:30And we saw it, for example, in the last alarm that there were a few parts of the rocket
01:36that fell inside the city and the people were in the shelters.
01:40So no one was hurt and so they are listening.
01:44The ground operation now underway in southern Lebanon is meant to take care of the infrastructures
01:49targeting the border communities, but not the tens of thousands of long-range rockets
01:54still in the hands of Hezbollah.
01:56This means that the city of Haifa should still be ready for impact.
