00:00The Manila Zoo, formerly known as the Manila Zoological and Botsanical Garden was opened on July 25, 1959,
00:09making it the oldest zoo in the Philippines.
00:12It houses more than 550 animals, including 13 species of mammals, 38 species of birds, and 21 species of reptiles.
00:23So for your next trip, let's visit Manila Zoo.
00:31Let's go to Manila Zoo?
00:37If you want to take a quick break from the hustle and bustle of a noisy city,
00:41you won't be able to relax and chill here.
00:45You're looking for a place to rest.
00:48Let's travel to Tipit Trips.
00:52From the Monumento, we'll take LRT to Quirino.
00:55That's only 25 pesos.
00:58Once at Quirino Station, it's just a walking distance,
01:02so let's go on a walk trip and look around until you see that big elephant.
01:07And welcome to Manila Zoo.
01:13Manila Zoo was first built on July 25, 1959.
01:18It was renovated before the pandemic of 2019, and it was launched on November 22, 2022.
01:25The changes in Manila Zoo starts with the structure.
01:29Our new zoos are more spacious, and then we actually make the animals feel that they're in their wild habitat.
01:36They're no longer trapped in a cage.
01:39At the entrance, there are wildlife fields that are wide, clean, and full of trees.
01:46It's like you're in the middle of busy Manila.
01:49But of course, that's not the only thing they're proud of.
01:53There's also a playground for the kids,
01:56a butterfly garden that has an aesthetic look,
01:59and for the plantitos and plantitas there,
02:02there's also a botanical garden that has different kinds of trees and plants.
02:07They can also visit the botanical garden where we usually have the most endemic species in the Philippines.
02:14So we have the Philippine Ironwood,
02:16and then the Catmon,
02:18which are the most endangered and endemic species in the Philippines.
02:23But we also have the Lubilubi.
02:25It's not just for animal lovers, it's also for plant lovers as well.
02:29We're sure that it's worth it because there's a lot to see.
02:32But Doc knows what we went here for, right?
02:36Doc, babe, let's go on a tour.
02:39So as you can see from the entrance of the zoo,
02:43we can see that it's wider now.
02:45The structure and the facade gives a more international standards look.
02:50We can see that all the enclosures are bigger than they usually are.
02:55So this is what I was talking about earlier, the hebra.
02:58People would be asking, what is a hebra?
03:00So a hebra is a cross between a male zebra and a female horse.
03:04So it is very rare and uncommon,
03:07but this didn't happen on purpose.
03:10So here we have the world's largest rodent, we have the capybaras.
03:14They love to swim and they feed on vegetables and leaves.
03:19Here, we're going to the aviary section of the zoo.
03:22What we can see here are peacocks, multicolored storks,
03:26we have our egret and our goose.
03:28And on the other side, we have our meat-eating birds,
03:32which is our blaminikites or what we call colloquially is lawin.
03:37Aside from the birds, the tigers are also present.
03:41And Nala and Simba are very relaxed.
03:44I hope so, right?
03:46So normally, you can notice if the animals are well-rested or comfortable
03:51because they sleep.
03:53If you thought that's all the animals in the zoo,
03:55you're wrong because the zebras, geese, and ostriches in the savannah won't disappear.
04:02They are still manifesting in the giraffe that is open for donations.
04:07So if you have a giraffe at home,
04:09why not?
04:11It's also open for visitors for viewing the different kinds of turtles,
04:15monkeys, crocodiles,
04:18growing ass,
04:20and many more.
04:22Entrance fee for adults is P300.
04:25For seniors and PWD, it's P240.
04:27And it's P200 if you're a student.
04:30For foreigners.
04:32But for Manilenos, of course, there's a discount.
04:36It's open every day, even during the holidays,
04:38from 11am to 6pm on Mondays.
04:42And 9am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Sundays.
04:46It's spacious, clean, and a unique experience.
04:50Where should we go next?
04:52Join us on our next Metipid Trips!
