00:05The Disney-owned outlet has picked up a drama titled The Beauty from Ryan Murphy Productions
00:10and 20th Television. The series, which will star Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos,
00:16and Jeremy Pope, is based on a 2016 Image Comics title of the same name.
00:20That graphic novel is set in a world where a sexually transmitted disease spreads largely
00:25because it makes people more physically attractive. However, two detectives
00:29stumble on a conspiracy surrounding the disease's origins.
00:33The Beauty is set to begin production in the fall. The new series marks another collaboration
00:37between Murphy and Peters, who have worked together on American Horror Story,
00:41Pose, and the Jeffrey Dahmer-focused first season of Monster.
00:45This news follows a run of recent series debuts for Murphy, including Netflix's Monsters,
00:50The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story, ABC's Dr. Odyssey, and FX's American Sports Story,
00:56Aaron Hernandez, and Grotesquerie. Grotesquerie star Nisi Nash-Betts and Dr. Odyssey leading
01:02man Joshua Jackson both recently opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about working with Murphy.
01:07Ryan is a genius. I don't even know what happens in his mind.
01:11But Grotesquerie was something that, as an artist, was a complete gift.
01:19I feel very satiated and very grateful that Ryan saw fit for me to lead the charge on this one.
01:27He's got a hell of an imagination, right, that he just keeps on coming up with these ideas,
01:32but I also just, I think that he loves television. I think that he loves long-form storytelling,
01:38and he is unusual in that he also has these two really distinct pieces of himself, right? He has
01:44the very, very dark side, and then he has the lighter, sort of comedic, sometimes musical
01:51side of him, and he's able to do both with equal genius. I mean, it's pretty impressive.
