A woman has defended keeping two pet monkeys in her home despite strangers calling her an "abuser" who "ripped them from the wild".

Animal lover Madeline Bennett, 22, says she is giving squirrel monkeys Oliver and Oakley "the best life".

She got them from a breeder in the past year and feeds them baby formula out of bottles, puts them in custom-made tiny nappies, and teaches them commands and tricks.

The content creator from Ann Arbor, Michigan, US, takes them out for day trips to pre-friendly restaurants, on boat rides and on gold GOLF cart rides.

00:00This morning, the monkeys woke up earlier than usual.
00:03They usually get up between 11 and 12, but today they got up at 10.
00:07So I put their diapers on and then made their bottles.
00:11Oliver doesn't really like his bottle anymore as much as Oakley does, so Oakley finished
00:15all of his.
00:16Oliver had like half of his and then had the other half like an hour later.
00:20Then I cleaned out their catio.
00:22This is where I'm able to hang things in my living room without having to use the ceiling
00:26and be able to keep their food in there.
00:29So the top of it is always closed and the bottom they can go in and out whenever they
00:32please during the day.
00:34It just helps keep their food contained and in one spot, whereas if their food was anywhere
00:40they would get it everywhere.
00:43So I put their food in a new spot each time so that way it's kind of fun for them to look
00:47for it.
00:51But then I just vacuumed the rest of my house and cleaned up a bit and then it was time
00:54to clean out their carriers.
00:56So I took out their heated blanket and then went to go outside to shake out their carriers
01:01before putting them in the wash.
01:04They're really good about not wanting to run out the doors because they're scared but he'll
01:07sit there and watch me the whole time.
01:10And when I was outside the bees are literally so bad this year I was being chased by one
01:15so I ran inside because I was so scared.
01:18But now it's time to go and wash all of their things so that way they're all fresh for the
01:22next night.
01:25And obviously they helped me do that along with everything.
01:28And then we sat on the couch for a little bit and played and relaxed before having to
01:33get up and do school.
01:36I often get told that I need to take monkeys back to the zoo or to a sanctuary.
01:43And let me just say that every single night they sleep on a heated blanket and they sleep
01:50in my bed.
01:51That is what they're used to and that's what they do every single night.
01:57So without having that they would be so upset.
02:03And not only that, they pay attention all day long.
02:07If they went to a sanctuary or a zoo or anything like that they would become extremely depressed.
02:13And I know I've mentioned it before but I have a lot of new people that follow me and
02:17I get a lot of new comments that tell me to do these things.
02:27They are much happier with me not searching for their next meal, not looking out for predators,
02:33and getting affection all day.
02:35I mean with just how compassionate and affectionate that they are I could honestly not imagine
02:40them having to be in a cage for the rest of their lives and getting no social interaction
02:44from what they're used to.
02:45They are my entire world and making sure they're happy is the most important thing
02:49to me so that's what I will always do first.
