00:00This is the first of a hundred wells we're going to build in this video.
00:05Oh!
00:06Water!
00:07Water!
00:08Oh!
00:09Oh!
00:10Crap!
00:11You just witnessed a small village in Kenya get access to unlimited clean drinking water
00:18in less than a second.
00:19One down, 99 more wells in Africa to go.
00:20You're going to love this video.
00:24Combined, these 100 wells are going to give around half a million people fresh water to
00:28drink.
00:29After building some more wells on this side of Kenya, we flew south to the school system
00:33of Nairiri.
00:34And let's just say, they were really happy to see us.
00:37How's it going?
00:38I was not expecting this.
00:39Thank you for the welcome.
00:40I'm not even sure how to react.
00:41I appreciate it everybody.
00:52This village threw a welcome ceremony upon our arrival and Nolan got really into it.
00:57Nolan's the most awkward person I've ever met.
00:59And that's a lot coming from me.
01:00And after being shown around the school.
01:01Here comes our guest.
01:02How's it going?
01:03Oh, you having a good day?
01:04It's nice meeting you.
01:05One of the teachers showed me where the students currently get their water, which is from this
01:06river.
01:07That's extremely unsafe to drink.
01:08This is where your students used to get water from?
01:09Yes.
01:10This is crazy.
01:11Yeah.
01:12You know, students complaining of diarrhea, infections like typhoid, because this is the
01:13water we've been using.
01:14So we try to treat, but you see, look at it.
01:15You know, but I don't like it.
01:16I don't like it.
01:17I don't like it.
01:18I don't like it.
01:19I don't like it.
01:20I don't like it.
01:21I don't like it.
01:23This situation is obviously extremely sad.
01:35These children's lives are being limited and sometimes cut short from being forced to drink
01:39unsafe water.
01:41But at least for this village, we're going to put an end to it right now.
01:44I don't think this john's going to fit.
01:45Let's see if we can find some water.
01:47It's raining!
01:50It's beautiful!
01:52After the water comes out of the ground, it's fed into enormous barrels like this one.
02:07And once they're built into the water towers, all of the neighboring villages will not only
02:11have clean drinking water, but a pressurized water source as well, which in short means
02:16no more doing laundry, and unsafe water.
02:19And pull!
02:20On a scale of one to Nolan's mom, how heavy is it?
02:22Nolan's mom times two.
02:24Oh, god.
02:24Dude, I'll push you off of this.
02:27All right, here we go.
02:28Under control.
02:29We built 20 more wells in Kenya.
02:31And after we were done, where has another well ended?
02:35Don't worry, I have more water in my other shoe.
02:37And just so you know how we built these first 29 wells,
02:39we used this giant drill to dig hundreds of feet
02:42into the ground, past the polluted sources,
02:44and into an enormous aquifer of pure, drinkable water.
02:47After that, we spent time installing pipes
02:50so that people all around Africa can access water
02:52from spigots like this one in Nairiri.
02:55Let's see how it tastes.
02:58Like water.
02:59It took me about a minute to fill this five-gallon drum.
03:01How much water can this provide a day?
03:033,600 gallons a day.
03:05Not only will this well cover the 400 kids at this school,
03:08but literally the entire neighborhood and village
03:10around this school can use this well.
03:12We say thank you for your work.
03:15This thing can basically pump nonstop for 30 years.
03:18You would think that having an effect of this magnitude
03:21would require the resources and funding of a large government.
03:24But that's not true.
03:25Solving this problem is possible,
03:27and something humanity should all be putting effort in to fix.
03:33To be honest, just find something you love doing
03:35and do it for a long period, and eventually you'll succeed.
03:38So I'm going to bring it super close.
03:39See us?
03:40Is that cool?
03:42If you look up, it's recording.
03:44All right, well, I'm going to get close.
03:46All right.
03:48Yeah, you can see yourself.
03:50We were also able to install a well for this village,
03:52and this village, and these 12 other villages.
03:55And while we were finishing these wells,
03:57we were also able to update one of their schools
03:59with brand new computers.
04:00How are they liking it?
04:01They really like it.
04:02They like them.
04:03Glad to see it turn out well.
04:04And we also updated the classrooms
04:06with new furniture, installed shelves
04:08and filled them with new books, donated
04:10a soccer ball for every student, and even
04:14put modern whiteboards and projectors
04:16in all the classrooms.
04:17Do you guys like the projector?
04:18Yes.
04:20We were using a chalk, and then a lot of dust.
04:22But today, everything is clean.
04:24We truly appreciate it.
04:25No problem.
04:26It's the least we can do.
04:27But then when we flew out to the site of the 45th well,
04:29we realized this community had it even harder.
04:32Every time they need to get water,
04:34they need to take a treacherous mile-long hike
04:36through the jungle.
04:37And that mile-long hike also happens
04:39to be on a giant mountain.
04:41I wake up very early, about 4 o'clock,
04:44so that I can fetch water for the school.
04:46We are not safe fetching water here.
04:48That place is very slippery.
04:49Chances of getting an injury is very high.
04:51So while we worked on their well,
04:52the community took me to see how they currently
04:54source their water.
04:55You guys would have to make this trip how many times a day?
04:57Two times.
04:58Two times a day.
04:59Oh, wow.
04:59So a typical student would carry something like this?
05:01Yes.
05:02Oh, god.
05:03If 200 students did this every day, how hard could it be?
05:06It could be very hard.
05:07Oh.
05:08Oh, boy.
05:10Dang, this is very steep.
05:11We're just walking down this mountain forever.
05:14Every day.
05:15It was actually surprising how difficult this hike was.
05:18And these people go through all of that
05:21just to get to this spigot that's water
05:23is still unsafe to drink.
05:24This is where you guys get your water from normally?
05:26Yes.
05:26And filled with water, these jugs
05:28can weigh up to 40 pounds, which is
05:31insane for these children to be carrying up this mountain.
05:34The ladies can carry two of those.
05:35Oh.
05:36I totally can as well, though.
05:37And as soon as these jugs were filled,
05:39it was time to head all the way back up.
05:42Hurry up.
05:43Let's go.
05:43He's not even sweating or anything.
05:45I got it.
05:45I got it.
05:46And now, instead of spending hours a day for unsafe water,
05:50their new well is only 10 feet away from the school.
05:54So they can just fill it up here now.
05:57I'm too tired.
05:57And so we were on our way to the next village
06:00where we built our 46 well, but we ran into a little problem.
06:03We found out that this village is divided in half
06:06by this huge, dangerous river.
06:08It may not look like much now, but when the rainy season
06:10comes, the water comes up this high
06:13and literally swallows this bridge.
06:15And why this bridge is such a big deal
06:16is the village is over there.
06:18The hospital and schools are over there.
06:20So they're crossing this bridge multiple times a day.
06:22Despite how dangerous this bridge is,
06:24it's their only option.
06:25This river, when it is swollen, it
06:27can sweep away people, students, or even animals.
06:30In the recent past, we have lost about three people
06:32trying to cross this river.
06:33This loss of life is insane.
06:35And absolutely unacceptable.
06:37The moment we heard about this, we knew we had to help.
06:40So while we started work on a new bridge that
06:42would let them reach their well, we then
06:44traveled over 2,000 miles from Kenya
06:46to the country of Zimbabwe.
06:48We've been in Africa for over a week,
06:50and we still have a lot more wells to do.
06:52You kind of smell.
06:53I know, it's weird.
06:53I showered this morning.
06:54Wow.
06:54Yeah.
06:55If you let me finish, I can put my arms down.
06:57Can I count on you two to finish these wells with me?
06:59Yes, yes, yes, yes.
07:00First on the agenda was to check out a local hospital that
07:03was in dire need of clean water.
07:05Upon entering, we learned how big of an impact
07:07this clinic had on the village.
07:09How many kids do you guys give birth to a year here?
07:11In a month, 250.
07:13So you do 600 births a year?
07:15Wow.
07:16But unfortunately, the pregnant mothers at this clinic
07:18have to walk over a mile just to get water,
07:21and then carry these heavy buckets all the way back.
07:24However, the good news is we paid
07:26for the construction of a new modern well for them.
07:31All that needed to be done now was to turn it on.
07:34All right, Nolan, are you ready?
07:36I'm ready.
07:37Over.
07:37Let me get a dramatic zoom in.
07:40Nolan, I pressed the button.
07:41Is it working?
07:44It's flowing!
07:45Oh!
07:45Woo!
07:48Do we want to go check it out?
07:49Yes.
07:49Let's do it.
07:52I love how people are immediately just getting water
07:54right now.
07:55This is easily the coolest thing ever.
07:57Nolan here is a professional dancer.
07:58He will join.
07:59How do I always end up dancing?
08:01What is he doing?
08:04Oh, gosh.
08:05All right, I won't make you watch this anymore.
08:07Besides ensuring access to clean water, a lot of the students
08:10at this village lack transportation.
08:12So we decided to give all of them new bicycles.
08:17I know it looks like a lot of kids,
08:18but we bought a lot of bikes.
08:21Full disclosure, I don't know how to ride a bike.
08:23Jimmy only knows how to give away bikes.
08:24Never learned how to ride one.
08:25Let's break in all the new bicycles.
08:273, 2, 1, go!
08:31Everyone's passing me.
08:32Be careful, I don't know how to ride a bike.
08:34I don't want to hit anyone.
08:36You want to ride it?
08:36All right, go for it, little man.
08:38OK.
08:38And after giving away the bikes, we
08:40continue building wells until we reach well number 69.
08:44This solar-powered well is specially
08:46designed to aid the farmers in this village
08:48by providing more than enough water for all
08:50of their crops and livestock, even during the dry season
08:53without any electricity.
08:55Each panel is 200 watts.
08:56Then it's attached to a pump.
08:58That pump can pump 5,000 liters every hour.
09:01Basically, it's unlimited amount of water
09:03for this entire village.
09:05That's incredible.
09:05And after we left Zimbabwe, we wanted
09:07to continue to give water to communities all across Africa.
09:11So we built more wells in Uganda, Somalia, and Cameroon.
09:15If you want to see more of what we did in Cameroon,
09:17there's a whole video about that coming soon
09:19on the Philanthropy channel.
09:20Spending time in these villages really
09:22made me reflect on the importance of building wells,
09:24how it brings water to farms to feed the hungry,
09:27how it provides clean conditions for hospitals,
09:29and most importantly, how it helps
09:31the children of this next generation
09:33live long, healthy lives and build the future
09:35for all of these communities.
09:37We are with a new dawn of clean drinking water.
09:39Water is life.
09:40And with some help from the locals,
09:42we finally finished a new bridge that this community can
09:44use for the next 100 years.
09:47Lives have been saved.
09:48Families will come together.
09:50The worries will be gone.
09:51The 100 wells we built in this video
09:53will change a lot of lives, but not enough,
09:56which is why before you go, I want to urge you all to go
09:58to beastphilanthropy.org slash wells
10:00or click the link in the description
10:01and donate money if possible.
10:02We're literally not profiting a dime off this video.
10:05100% of the money we raise is going
10:07to go towards building more wells,
10:08like you saw in this video, all around the globe.
10:10I know it's weird that a YouTuber has to do all this stuff,
10:13but someone's got to do it.
10:14And if no one else is, we're going to do it.
10:16As you can tell, it really does change the lives
10:18of the communities where we build them.
10:20And finally, well 100.
10:23Oh my god.
10:24I'm so sorry.
10:25Mr. B6000.
