00:00Hi there, my name is Kelly Brown from the Portsmouth News and today I am paying a visit to Horsley.
00:06So if you've never been to this lovely place to visit, which is on the north of the city right next to Horsley Lido,
00:12it's a lovely little stretch of water.
00:16You can see down the far end there are lots of swans that go along there.
00:22They are lovely to look at. They're here all year round.
00:25And it's a great place to come and walk your dog.
00:27But obviously do keep your dogs on the lead anywhere near the swans.
00:30It's got this lovely bridge in the middle.
00:33And then over this way is a fabulous wakeboarding area, which is open an awful lot of the year.
00:40And right next to it is a fantastic cafe, so you can go and visit that one.
00:48One of the things I used to love about Hilsey Lines as a kid, which is still here now,
00:52are these fantastic staircases to explore, which might not seem very exciting to us adults,
00:58but to kids it's great to run up and down.
01:01So they lead from the water up to the top of the ramparts.
01:07Obviously they are old, so just be careful when you're going up and down them.
01:12But you can get some fantastic views right out across all the way to the Sails of the South.
01:21And yeah, they continue up to the top.
01:27As I say, go very carefully when you're going up here.
01:31But yeah, great for kids to explore and, you know, as a parent, to tie them out.
01:40It's a fun tunnel of trees to run through, and then back down the steps to the other side.
01:51And if you take a walk along Hilsey Lines, you'll find lots of places to sit, have a snack, rest little legs,
02:11and little odd bits and places to explore as well.
02:14So yeah, don't worry that you have to keep walking and walking and walking.
02:17There are plenty of little bits that you can stop.
02:47And for those of you with children, this is one of the newer additions down here at Hilsey Lines,
02:54which is a pump track, which is again very well used in the summer.
02:58And actually all year round, thinking about it, because kids will be out in all weathers, won't they?
03:03But yeah, fantastic place to go and burn off some energy.
