00:00Thank you, Mr. President.
00:02Ministers, representatives, after hearing so
00:09much analysis, the description of so much
00:13misfortune, so many calamities, and after
00:16hearing detailed descriptions of the
00:17Holocaust that afflict us as a human family,
00:20after watching so much intelligence sparkle
00:24before our eyes, we are left in silence
00:27contemplating the void.
00:28Because whilst we have knowledge, or whilst we
00:32think we have knowledge, we do not find, we
00:35cannot detect common responses to the
00:38weaknesses and pains that beset our society.
00:41There are no responses being found to the
00:43abuses, aberrations, the aggressions of global
00:46powers, to the unjust global order that, from
00:50every angle, seems to increasingly suffocate us.
00:53And that is happening in spite of our
00:56knowledge, our experience, and the spirit that
00:59we have as human beings, the spirit that we
01:01must nourish to better light our way forward.
01:03The tragedies of injustice, supremacist
01:06ambitions, the perverse appetites for
01:09domination, subjugation, and barbarism were
01:14those seen in the worst times that were known
01:17as periods of colonization or conquest.
01:20These phenomena seem to be worsening, keeping
01:24humankind perpetually enslaved to the basest
01:27sentiments, avarice, greed, and the imposition
01:32of models by some on others.
01:34This is all causing us to stray further and
01:37further from the principles and values of
01:39equality and rights that, with sweat and tears,
01:43humanity and intelligence thought they had won.
01:47Disaster after disaster, we continue to sow war
01:50as the savage MO of imperialism and capitalism.
01:54They, too, are savage, barbaric, and fierce.
01:57And we're walking towards the extinction
01:59of all human beings.
02:01We are refusing to accept that only peace can triumph.
02:04That is true because peace is justice.
02:07Peace is peaceful coexistence.
02:09Peace is respectful cooperation.
02:12It is the furtherance of freedom, dignity, and
02:14the sovereignty of all peoples.
02:17Those philosophies, those principles will
02:20guarantee that we can live a life better
02:22than ever before.
02:23But today, peace stands before us as one of the
02:27most distant illusions.
02:28We're not on a journey to peace.
02:31And, incidentally, we're not acquainting ourselves
02:35with this just and lasting peace that could place us
02:39on a path towards a world of brotherhood,
02:41happiness, and solidarity.
02:42Every morning, in so many corners of our planet,
02:45we wake up to death and more death.
02:48We wake up to people being sacrificed on the
02:51bonfires of the insipid supposed superiority of
02:54some over others.
02:56We wake up before killings and massacres which should
03:02mark the consciences of warlords, magnates, and
03:06those that traffic in apocalyptic world wars.
03:09These wars are imposed on some people and by some
03:13people and others.
03:13And they lay waste to beings, cultures, lands.
03:17They crucify.
03:19And they do all of this to ensure that life meets
03:21their tastes, whims, and interests.
03:23In these daily massacres, how much do we lose,
03:26particularly when it comes to the most deeply rooted
03:29human emotions that we have?
03:31Love, brotherhood, and hope.
03:33These are values that human beings seem to be
03:36casting aside.
03:37These values are undoubtedly victims of the
03:40hell that they sell to us as heaven, victims of the
03:45satanic kings that dismiss the tragedies they visit
03:49upon us.
03:50And in so doing, they forget the core principle of
03:52civilization, which should be power enjoyed by all
03:58for the good of all of us.
04:00Every day, we lose heart.
04:02We lose our soul, not because we sell it to the
04:04devil and his satanic underlings, but rather
04:07because our generations that should have learned so
04:10much from the millions of human beings that have
04:12sacrificed throughout history on the bonfires of
04:15vanity and ambitions.
04:17They are these people are the victims of deadly
04:24selfishness, lessons that they failed to learn from.
04:28You forget all of that.
04:29And instead, enemies of peace try to convert the
04:33world into the most arid of deserts, spiritually arid.
04:37And we ignore all of this.
04:40And we fail to harness our human strength.
04:43We're faced with so much aggression, barbarism,
04:46attacks, crimes.
04:47Satanic assaults are being waged on all of us.
04:51Evil seems to be trumping good.
04:54But in the face of all of that, peoples are left,
04:57those peoples that know how to fight, peoples of
04:59culture, spiritual experience and dignity and
05:03national decorum.
05:04That is our great asset.
05:05That is our most invaluable heritage.
05:08That is the kingdom of God on Earth.
05:11This is the beginning, the dawning of a new world
05:15which is being born, rising from the ashes of
05:20anguish, suffering and pain.
05:22All of these things have been imposed upon us by
05:25sick minds that do not see, do not wish to see the
05:28arrival of this other good world.
05:31They continue to try and live in the past.
05:34Centuries pass for their own benefit.
05:37They try to stay living in the old and blood-soaked world.
05:40How much pain, how many battles, how many chains,
05:44how much enslavery are we going to suffer?
05:50Because on the other hand, we have our human
05:52condition that goes from strength to strength, from
05:55truth to truth.
05:56We're increasingly waking up to the truth.
05:58We show more and more courage, more and more
06:00valor.
06:01And every day, in the face of suffering, we enjoy
06:06more glory.
06:07We see more and more victories of the truth.
06:10And our human spirit is prevailing, just as it must.
06:13No one can strip us of our certainty of a new world.
06:17No one can deprive us of the reality of a brotherly
06:19world, a world of understanding, solidarity,
06:22and respectful cooperation in the present and for the
06:26well-being of all.
06:28In the old world, designed by the conquistadores,
06:33they will, those conquistadores will remain
06:36with their ambitions thwarted, sad and alone.
06:38They will be condemned and rejected by those of us
06:41that have learned to revere love, learned to root out
06:45hatred and what it imposes upon us.
06:47We've learned to bury humiliation, indignity, and
06:52we've learned to dismiss terror, the fear that they
06:56use to pressure us and intimidate us, those as the
06:59evil of the Earth.
07:01We will never yield.
07:02We will never bow to the enemies of peace or the
07:05enemies of common good.
07:06We will never be enslaved by selfishness and avarice.
07:09And we will never be blind to the atrocities committed
07:12by those who sow the mendacious narrative of
07:16their hypocritical acolytes, those that use
07:20artificial techniques and tactics, and who use
07:25technical or film to sell us a childish world, a
07:29fictional world that pretend to be blind, deaf, and
07:32mute, paralyzed.
07:35And we will never bow to those that acquit those
07:38that are guilty of so many crimes against humanity.
07:41We will not be silent, ever.
07:44We denounce and condemn the genocide that the
07:46government of Israel and its First World allies
07:48have committed, commit, and continue to commit
07:50against the glorious people of Palestine, against
07:53the courageous people of Lebanon, and against so
07:55many other brave, valiant, dignified people.
07:58None of us will yield to brutality.
08:01We are not silent.
08:02We will never be silent.
08:03We denounce and condemn the aggressions against
08:05Syria, Iran, and against all other great peoples
08:10in their struggles.
08:12We stand with our brothers on all continents.
08:14We will never be silent.
08:16We denounce and condemn the occupation and
08:18hijacking of the rights of people such as Haiti.
08:21We are not silent.
08:22We will never be silent.
08:24We denounce and condemn the systematic policy of
08:26extermination of cultures and rights that colonial
08:29imperialist powers visit upon peoples, governments,
08:32and countries who, like Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia,
08:35Nicaragua, are members of the Bolivarian Alliance
08:39for the Peoples of our America.
08:41ALBA.
08:42ALBA is a strategic unit with which we defend our
08:45sovereignty, independence, and legitimate models of
08:50institutions, our models of self-governance and
08:55direct and participative democracy.
08:56We stand shoulder to shoulder with all
08:59countries and peoples affected by barbarism and
09:02the brutality which was unleashed and is being
09:05unleashed against our Mother Earth and our resources.
09:08That is causing what we know today as climate change.
09:11Climate change is none other than selfishness and
09:14the pillaging of our earthly resources.
09:17That pillaging has created myriad disasters,
09:20disasters which are not natural, disasters which
09:23require climate justice, disasters that have been
09:27imposed upon us by selfish slave masters.
09:31The pillagers of our world, the filibusters, they've
09:34done all of that without regard for what we're
09:38losing, without compensation, redress, or
09:40reparation for what we've lost.
09:42We stand shoulder to shoulder in brotherliness,
09:46solidarity, in just struggles for food security,
09:51health security, education, rights, human security.
09:55These are all rights that we will never give up on.
09:59Of course, we are fighting an urgent daily struggle
10:04against terrorism in all its forms, against drug
10:07trafficking, organized crime, all vices and
10:09criminal activities that have been imposed upon us
10:12to weaken our institutions, models, and
10:14practices, and in order to increase interference
10:18into our ways of life.
10:21Those doing that are attempting to instill and
10:26establish ways of living which are not our own.
10:30They're seeking to, in so doing, create an image of
10:33us according to which we are incapable, mere beggars.
10:36We will never accept that model.
10:38There are invaders, those interventionists that are
10:43dressed in sheepskin that have the faces of wolves,
10:46and to them we say we are people rich in culture,
10:49resources, and community models.
10:52We are rich in values that have been distorted,
10:55slandered, or worn down.
10:56We will not allow ourselves to be converted into
10:59needy beggars because we're not beggars, and we'll not
11:03allow you to pretend that we are just because you want
11:06to be falsely kind and generous.
11:09Your interests are patently clear, and you're using
11:12them to interfere in our own affairs.
11:14That's not only unacceptable, it's
11:16despicable and unbecoming.
11:18We have a right to our freedoms and the supreme
11:21dignity of our spirit and culture.
11:23We have a right to our own conscience and
11:26our own convictions.
11:28We are allowed to learn and continue on our humble
11:32pilgrimage, a pilgrimage that means that we learn
11:34from everyone.
11:35We're able to incorporate the good into how we live,
11:38to cast aside and reject everything that seeks to
11:41make us into servile machines divided by the
11:45strategies of the imperialists of the earth.
11:48We defend our highest dreams.
11:50We do so alongside Bolivar, Marti, Sandino, Morazan,
11:54and alongside so many great figures that preceded us
11:58and led the way for our struggles so that we would
12:01win, vanquish, and triumph.
12:03Nothing is free in this world.
12:05We must become more aware, and our heart must grow
12:09bigger every day.
12:10We must be absolutely lucid, clear, and coherent in
12:13our action because it is only the union of the
12:16peoples of the planet that will be able to vanquish
12:19the earth's imperialists.
12:20It is only this union that will make them retreat,
12:25even though they continue to criminally machinate,
12:28and they do everything they can to distort us.
12:32But we will distort them.
12:34ALBA is a triumphant alliance, and we stand
12:38shoulder to shoulder with Chavez, Nicolás,
12:40and his great people.
12:41We are one with the Cuba of Fidel, Raul, Miguel,
12:45and their dignified and fearless resistance.
12:47We are one with Bolivia and its laudable path forward.
12:52We are one with Honduras and its challenges.
12:54We are one with Mesoamerica and the challenges it faces.
12:57We are one with Asia, with the Arab peoples,
13:00with the peoples of that black Africa,
13:03the peoples that live among us.
13:05We are one with the Russian Federation in its
13:08major struggles against the beast of fascism,
13:11battles that we will win.
13:14About this, there can be no doubt.
13:16We are one with the People's Republic of China,
13:19a country that teaches us so much,
13:21that bestows upon us their wisdom and experience
13:25in developing their people's well-being.
13:28They bring to us lessons of global solidarity
13:31for a community of the future.
13:33We stand with all the fighters and warriors of
13:35the world and with the strength and dignity
13:39that we've always had.
13:40And today, we will not allow ourselves
13:45to be crucified for these values.
13:49On the contrary, we will rise up with pride and happiness.
13:53We will fly our flags and standards proud
13:55because we know that humanity and the human spirit
13:58must conquer all.
14:00We will prevail.
14:01It is only by prevailing that we will spread and preserve
14:04the highest, loftiest values of the humanity
14:08that we all inhabit.
14:10Our Nicaragua is blessed, dignified,
14:12always sovereign, Christian, socialist,
14:15solidarity-based.
14:16And from that Nicaragua, we embrace you all,
14:19all of you in this world that want peace,
14:21affection, respect, rights, and well-being.
14:23We will always stand together, and together,
14:26we will go forward.
14:27We'll build upon the legacy of our victorious
14:30General Augusto Sindino, and we will do so
14:33with the poetry of our great Rubén Darío in mind.
14:37And here, I quote,
14:39A great flight of crows stains the blue sky.
14:42A thousand-year-old breath threatens plague.
14:45In the Far East, men are being murdered.
14:48Has the apocalyptic Antichrist been born?
14:52Omens have been witnessed and wonders seen.
14:55The return of Christ seems imminent.
14:59The earth is pregnant with pain so deep
15:03that the dreamer, imperious, lost in thought,
15:07suffers all the anxieties of the heart of the world.
15:10Executioners of ideals afflict the earth,
15:14locking up humanity in a shadowy pit,
15:17along with the brutes of hatred and war.
15:20Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, why do you take so long?
15:23Why wait to spread your hand of light
15:26over these wild beasts
15:28and make your divine banners brilliant in the sun?
15:31It rises suddenly, pouring out life's essence
15:34over so many crazed, sad, or hardened souls,
15:38so in love with darkness as to forget your sweet dawn.
15:42Come, Lord, show us in all your glory.
15:45Come with trembling stars and the dread of cataclysm.
15:49Come bringing love and peace across the abyss.
15:52Let your white horse, which the visionary witnessed,
15:56come in and let that divine, extraordinary clarion sound,
16:00and may my heart be an ember of your swaying incense.
16:05Today, we remember the Nicaraguan father,
16:08priest, ambassador of the dignity
16:10and decorum of our peoples, Miguel Escoto Brockman.
16:14He fought, and he bequeathed upon us the responsibility
16:17to fight for the remodeling of the United Nations
16:20so that the United Nations could serve the cause of debate
16:23and the struggle for justice,
16:25the right to harmony and happiness of the peoples.
16:28The United Nations as an instrument
16:31belonging precisely to nations themselves,
16:34an instrument to denounce, condemn, reject,
16:37and repudiate all abominations
16:39and aberrations perpetrated against all of us.
16:42It is an instrument to encourage good affection,
16:46to root out evil, opprobrium, and hatred in our relations.
16:50Our relations, our ties,
16:52should be those of brotherly coexistence.
16:54Peoples of the world go forward.
16:56The Earth must be the paradise of all of humankind.
16:59The world will be different and better.
17:01That's what we're working for.
17:02That's why we are united, and that is what we believe in.
17:07Allow me to bring to you the affection
17:09of all of Nicaragua's people,
17:10that of President Commander Daniel Ortega
17:13and Vice President Rosario Murillo.
17:15Many thanks indeed.
