00:00One of the only football jerseys that I really owned when I was younger was a Milan jersey and of course a Zlatan jersey
00:08Nobody's bigger than Zlatan and you know, especially in Sweden. I mean, he's like, I mean, he's bigger than anybody
00:14I mean, there's nobody that even compares really
00:16Monta Duplantis, welcome to our world. How did it felt to have a tour in our museum?
00:29Yeah, it's amazing
00:31I'm
00:32Honored, you know, y'all really didn't have to name it after me, but y'all did and so that's also very cool
00:38But no, jokes aside. It's super super amazing and really just
00:43So nice to soak up the whole environment here at the Mondo Milan museum, so yeah, really cool
00:49Did you know you made our fans crazy wearing an AC Milan jersey in your TikTok video after the Olympics?
00:56Yeah, I didn't realize I guess it was gonna happen like that
00:59but I guess it did I mean one of the only football jerseys that I really owned when I was younger was a
01:06Milan jersey and of course a Zlatan jersey
01:10But it was cool to see you know, the Milan fans react well to it, I think that's nice
01:14All right. Let's talk for a while about your nickname Mondo. Did you know it's an Italian word? Yeah, of course
01:20my father's best friend is a family from Sicily and
01:26So I got the name from him Mondo. I guess means world
01:30I know that much at least in Italian and but it was first it was Mondo man
01:34that was what I was called when I was really young and then
01:38Then I don't know I just shortened it to Mondo and then it was just Mondo. Yeah, what's your connection with football?
01:44I mean, I think it's a beautiful sport
01:47and you know, I did grow up a lot of my life in the United States where the
01:53part where the culture of football really wasn't that big but but every time I would
01:59Come back to Sweden then it was always that was the only thing that we watched me and my cousin
02:02and so I think that's where I really learned to develop the love for the game and
02:09You know
02:10That's I guess it kind of just went from there
02:12Have you ever tried to play football even recently? I mean not recently. No, it was a long long time ago
02:18I played a little bit of football when I was younger, but not
02:22Yeah, I would say I mean, like I said, the culture wasn't really that big actually where I grew up
02:28but I wish I wish I had played more because
02:32I really do think it's such a such a beautiful game and I feel like I would have really liked to dive deeper into it
02:37But I just was too good at the football thing and then I just did that instead
02:42In which position would you play on the pitch because we also saw that you were very fast and you could be a good winger
02:48I'd probably be a winger. Yeah, I'd probably be a winger
02:50I guess use my speed to my advantage I guess because I am I am pretty quick and that's definitely my
02:57Yeah, my best attribute
02:58I guess that I would be able to bring to the pitch if I could bring anything
03:01So I'd probably be a winger of some sort
03:04Let's talk about Zlatan Ibrahimovic also who congratulated with you in a recent press conference
03:10For your gold medal at the Olympics. I guess you heard these words and
03:14How did you react about that as you know, he's an idol in Sweden and in the whole world
03:20Yeah, I mean nobody's nobody's bigger than Zlatan and you know, especially in Sweden. I mean, he's like I mean
03:26Bigger than anybody. I mean, there's nobody that even compares really and so yeah praise from the big man himself is I
03:34Don't know. It's weird. It's weird, you know, I mean, especially thinking about
03:38you know years back when I was just a child and
03:41You know looking up to him and seeing him seeing him as an idol. It's a it's a really
03:47Really cool thing just thinking in a certain way, you know to share the same winning mentality
03:52The strong will to get better day by day, you know to break new records
03:59Get more wins
04:02Yeah, maybe maybe he probably has a little bit of a different mentality than me. But no, I think we both
04:09Yeah hunger for winning. I mean, I think that's what
04:12Everybody has that wants to be the best or that is the best or close to the best and what they do
04:16I mean you have to have that that hunger to win in that that dedication, but I think also it just comes down to
04:21Passion and you have to really love what you do and I think that
04:25you know, if you if you really find what you love, then
04:28You can take it only being 24. You'll become world champion
04:32Mm-hmm, and you won't go on medals and the Olympics making history in pole vault and break your world record with 626 meters
04:41And right now what's next? What's the next goal? I
04:45think for me, I'm just trying to
04:47Soak up the moment and soak up what I just did and really
04:52Be thankful for the season that I've had and even the past few years
04:56winning the Olympics for records and everything that I've been able to do, but
05:00You know just always I'm always gonna keep pushing for more and I know the type of athlete that I'm in
05:06So right now I'm in like the offseason mode where I don't train and I'm just like
05:10Relaxing and you know coming coming to Milan going to football matches and and just having a really good time
05:15But you know when it comes to next year
05:17I have more championships try to win try to win everything again
05:20try to keep jumping higher push myself as as much as I can and you know
05:25Just the same old thing and we wish you best of luck. Thank you very much. Well done. Appreciate it. Thanks for that
05:31Thanks for inviting me. Thank you. Thank you for that
