00:00So here I am at the newsletter offices, room 305 in Arthur House, and let's see how long it takes for us to get to Grand Sample Station.
00:12Let's just set our timer, and we'll be off.
00:30Here we are, we've reached City Hall, and the time is 2 minutes 37 seconds.
00:52We're just making our way down Wellington Street, and the time on the watch says 4 minutes 50 seconds.
01:03OK, we've made our way on Upper Queen Street, now we're on Howard Street, and the time is 5 minutes and 50 seconds.
01:15You can see we're approaching our set of major lights, and the man, the green man, is about to come on, and it's safe for me to cross.
01:37OK, so I didn't make it over to this set of traffic lights in time, and the red man is on, and we'll have to wait on the green man.
01:55We're still waiting on the green man here, and the time is now 7 minutes and 40 seconds, the green man has just appeared, and we can make our way safely across.
02:10The time is 7 minutes and 50 seconds, as we head towards Glengold Street.
02:19OK, we're approaching the bottom of Glengold Street, the station is the glass fronted building in between these two buildings, and we're approaching the traffic lights with the red man currently.
02:43Our time is 9 minutes and 40 seconds, let's see what happens, you can see our wait, oh the green man has just appeared, that's very lucky.
02:55So we're making our way down this new walkway, here we are at the entrance to Grant Central.
03:15Grant Central, and we're about to go through, I have to get over to Stand 4, which is where I usually get my bus, into this wonderful new building.
03:35Stand 4 is reasonably close, and here we are at Stand 4, I'm going to stop the time, and the time says 11 minutes and 8 seconds, and that's actually quite a good time.
04:05Because we caught those last set of lights very well, at Glengold Street, there can be a long wait at those, but that's a good time, and it can be done in 11 minutes, if you strike it lucky with the lights.
04:24So as our little experiment proved, we can make the walk from my offices to Stand 4 here at Grant Central in 11 minutes, just over 11 minutes.
04:39But like I said, if I had been caught at those traffic lights at Glengold Street, it could have added an extra 1 minute and 30 seconds easily onto that amount of time, which would have taken you up closer to 12 and a half minutes, 13 minutes.
05:00Ultimately the lesson is, leave extra time for waiting at pedestrian crossings.
