A study has called on the government to shrink standard beer drinking sizes from a pint to two-thirds of a pint in a bid to quell UK alcohol consumption habits - would you be in support of this and why/why not? Do you think we have unhealthy drinking habits in this country? What about compared with other European nations?

00:00A study has been called on by the government to shrink standard beer drinking sizes from
00:06a pint to two-thirds of a pint in a bid to quell alcohol overconsumption in the UK.
00:13Would you be in support of this?
00:14Well, quite frankly, as a person who enjoys real ale, no, obviously not.
00:20I can't see the point, because if you have it at two-thirds of a pint, you're only going to
00:25buy more anyway. You'll say, oh, well, yeah, it's not going to address the issue. I mean,
00:32people are going to drink to excess or not. I go out, I drink one or two pints, that's my lot.
00:37But people who binge drink excessively, well, I think they're going to do it anyway,
00:43regardless of whether it's a pint or whether it's two-thirds of a pint.
00:46Do you think we have unhealthy drinking habits in this country?
00:49Yes, I think we do, actually. I mean, you don't have to go out and see people that
00:52drink to excess. I've been over on the continent. I've seen the way people drink
00:55in France. I've seen the way people drink in the Netherlands or Holland.
