00:00Since the 2006 Lebanon war, the UNIFIL mission has never witnessed a more tense situation.
00:07Established in 1978, its 10,000 peacekeepers from 50 countries have been regularly patrolling
00:13along the blue line, a UN Rome border between Lebanon and Israel, while engaging in efforts
00:19to de-escalate tensions between the two sides.
00:22Since Israel launched a new wave of attacks across Lebanon, hitting what it called Hezbollah's
00:26targets, over 600 people have been killed, with around 90,000 newly displaced in the
00:32country.
00:56Israel says it is preparing for a ground invasion.
01:26On Wednesday, Hezbollah said it had targeted the Mossad headquarters with a missile fired
01:38toward Tel Aviv, which was later intercepted.
01:41Meanwhile, the US and France called for a 21-day ceasefire.
01:46Israel rejected the proposal, saying it will continue to fight against Hezbollah.
01:56We are in a very serious situation.
02:03There is a solution, as we have said for a long time, a solution that both countries
02:10have indicated, logically in a different way, but the implementation of the 17-01 resolution,
02:17our resolution, which is the same resolution that made it possible for the war in 2006
02:25to end.
02:28Uncertainty on both sides has been there for over 10 months, but people have never been
02:33so concerned as they are now at the prospect that a full-out war could become a reality.
