Two friends are kayaking 3,000 miles from Ireland to Istanbul in a world first.

Johnny Coyne and Liam Cotter, both 22, set off from Dublin a month ago and are now 200 miles into their journey through 16 countries to Turkey.

The journey will see the outdoor instructors kayak through the Irish Sea, across the English Channel, the along River Thames, Rhine, and Danube.

They'll pass through Ireland, England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, Lithuania, Moldova and even Ukraine, before they arrive in Turkey in March.

They are embarking on their extraordinary adventure to raise money for Daisy Lodge, a respite facility for children with cancer and their families.

The duo hope to raise £30,000 for the cause, and they’ve already raised almost £4,000.

00:47It's a moment we've been waiting for for a long time.
00:49It's a big day, Johnny.
00:50Woo!
00:51It was estimated that it would take about seven to eight hours.
00:54Between 40 and 50 kilometres.
00:55It all depended on how we got on.
00:57Liam had rudder problems straight away.
00:59We seem to have got it sorted.
01:01I'm feeling tired.
01:02Feeling motivated in some way.
01:04And so we began.
01:06Break number two.

01:10Hello.
01:11I have a sore ass.
01:12Need to pee a bit.
01:13Liam and I are going to attempt a piss.
01:16I've got a bit of a technique here.
01:18Why are you pissing on my body?
01:19I can know what direction for it.
01:20There is.
01:22The aches and pains are there for sure.
01:24It's tough but it's going pretty well.
01:26Over five hours in now.
01:28It's definitely getting tough.
01:30Pretty wrecked now.
01:31Just keep going north.
01:32You're doing fucking awesome.
01:33Okay.
01:34Let's do this.
01:36Lots of pain in the lower body.
01:38I'm mentally tired.
01:40I've been visualising this moment to this music.
01:43Now I'm listening to this music in this moment.
01:46Let's do this thing.
01:48Scotland!
01:52Eight hours in.
01:53Very, very weird current here.

02:00That's it.
02:01We made it to Scotland.
02:03Just as the sun is setting.
02:04Nine hours and 50 kilometres later we made it to Scotland.
02:08We crossed the Irish Sea.
02:09And this is only the start.
02:11My name is Johnny Coyne.
02:12And currently I'm kayaking from Dublin to Istanbul on a World's First Expedition.
02:17You might be wondering how does this happen?
02:20How does one decide to do this?
02:22About four years ago I bought a bicycle and I started cycling.
02:26Two and a half months later I arrived in the Algarves in Portugal.
02:30But to tell you the truth, adventure was always an escape for me.
02:33When I was about 16 I was put into a programme for troubled teens.
02:39Every Friday instead of school we went and we did outdoor activities.
02:42And that's where adventure started for me.
02:44A year prior my dad had passed away.
02:47So nine years ago today actually.
02:49That kind of led me down a path that was a bit more wild than other people.
02:55But that wildness is still in me.
02:57I've just channeled it into more positive places.
03:00Now I travel the world doing these crazy adventures.
03:03I've also walked across Nepal.
03:06I've cycled from Canada to Costa Rica.
03:08Eight countries in 136 days.
03:11And now I'm kayaking from Dublin to Istanbul on a World's First Expedition.
03:15And there's plenty more to come.
03:17I'm not stopping anytime soon.
03:19I love this life. It's life for me.
03:21If you want to join me on my journeys drop me a follow.
03:24And you're going to see some crazy shit happen in the next few years.
