Curiosities about KNULL the God of Symbiotes

Knull's first appearance and creators
Knull was a joint creation of several Marvel writers and illustrators. The character's concept was established by Donny Cates, while Ryan Stegman took charge of the look. His first appearance took place in Venom Vol. 4 #3, published in August 2018.
However, the symbiote itself had already appeared in another previous Marvel magazine, without anyone knowing - more precisely, in Thor: God of Thunder #6, in May 2013. The issue was created by Jason Aaron and Butch Guice, and Nor did they know of Knull's existence yet.

The God of Darkness
According to the comics, Knull is an extremely powerful entity that even precedes the creation of the universe. When the Celestials, Marvel's cosmic gods, set out on their world-creating mission, Knull was awakened from his dark slumber by light.
This made him extremely aggressive, since he wanted to keep the universe as he knew it: immersed in absolute darkness. Once awakened from his eternal slumber, he swore war on the Celestials and all deities in the universe, beginning his reign of chaos.

Celestial sword
In his fight against the Celestials, the God of Symbiotes was able to forge a very powerful sword from his dimension. This sword had a certain power to absorb whatever it encountered, and it had a consciousness of its own. With the weapon, Knull was able to cut off the head of one of the cosmic gods.
This head drifted in space, becoming what we know as the Knowhere Citadel. Knull then used this outsized location as a forge, imbuing his own sword with various cosmic powers, making it a virtually indestructible weapon.

Klyntar Creator
As soon as he had his weapon ready, Knull began traveling the universe to fulfill his mission and assassinate all deities in his path. The villain then decided to establish his own headquarters, forming an artificial planet that became known as Klyntar.
On this planet, he realized that he could manipulate smaller forms of life, creating his symbiotes. Klyntar then became the center of the symbiotic race in the Marvel Universe, until its destruction, which occurred at the end of the Absolute Carnage saga.

The herald of the symbiotes
On his travels, Knull came to possess a powerful character from the House of Ideas. Once, Galactus was devouring one of the planets that was commanded by the God of Symbiotes, and this brought the villain face to face with the herald of the Devourer of Worlds, the Silver Surfer.
The two had an intense and glorious fight, but Knull ultimately prevailed - and in doing so, infected Norrin Radd with his own symbiote. The cosmic hero spent some time controlled by the God of Symbiotes, but was eventually freed with the help of Ego, the Living Planet.

Gorr and the Necrosword
In one of his tyrannical wars, Knull ended up being seriously injured and ended up on a desolate planet.

00:58the God of Symbiotes was able to forge a very powerful sword from his dimension.
01:02This sword had a certain power to absorb whatever it encountered,
01:05and it had a consciousness of its own.
01:07With the weapon, Null was able to cut off the head of one of the cosmic gods.
01:10This head drifted in space, becoming what we know as the Nowhere Citadel.
01:14Null then used this outsized location as a forge,
01:16imbuing his own sword with various cosmic powers,
01:19making it a virtually indestructible weapon.
01:21Klyntar Creator
01:22As soon as he had his weapon ready,
01:24Null began traveling the universe to fulfill his mission and assassinate all deities in his path.
01:28The villain then decided to establish his own headquarters,
01:31forming an artificial planet that became known as Klyntar.
01:34On this planet, he realized that he could manipulate smaller forms of life,
01:37creating his symbiotes.
01:39Klyntar then became the center of the symbiotic race in the Marvel Universe,
01:42until its destruction, which occurred at the end of the Absolute Carnage Saga.
01:45The Herald of the Symbiotes
01:47On his travels, Null came to possess a powerful character from the House of Ideas.
01:51Once, Galactus was devouring one of the planets that was commanded by the God of Symbiotes,
01:55and this brought the villain face to face with the Herald of the Devourer of Worlds,
01:58the Silver Surfer.
01:59The two had an intense and glorious fight,
02:01but Null ultimately prevailed, and in doing so, infected Norrin Radd with his own symbiote.
02:06The cosmic hero spent some time controlled by the God of Symbiotes,
02:09but was eventually freed with the help of Ego, the living planet.
02:12Gore and the Necrosword
02:14In one of his tyrannical wars,
02:15Null ended up being seriously injured and ended up on a desolate planet.
02:19There, his original sword-slash-symbiote took on a life of its own and abandoned him,
02:23fusing with another being, who would become known as Gore, the Butcher of the Gods.
02:27Null's sword ended up being renamed, becoming the Necrosword,
02:30a weapon capable of taking any form according to Gore's will.
02:33That's why the villain's symbiote was introduced long before himself,
02:36in the Thor magazine in which Gore is the main antagonist.
02:39Defeat and Imprisonment
02:40After his encounter with the Butcher of the Gods,
02:42Null set his sights on another property, Earth.
02:45To do this, he sent two colossal symbiotes that took the form of dragons.
02:49Once on our planet, these beings were named Grendel and Mother of Grendel.
02:52The dragons were faced by Thor,
02:53who with a powerful lightning bolt was able to cut Null's connection with the symbiotes.
02:57The villain's minions turned against him and imprisoned him in Klyntar,
03:00where he remained dormant for centuries until he awakened and regained control of the symbiotes.
03:04Absolute Carnage
03:06In the latest Venom comic, Null has awakened from his ancient slumber
03:09and begun planning his revenge and universal domination.
03:11To maintain his plan, he mastered the remnants of Grendel's symbiote
03:15and produced a new, even more powerful symbiote.
03:17During this period, the villain began to be worshipped by a sect,
03:20which in turn was led by Scorn.
03:22This cult of Null captured a piece of the ancestral symbiote
03:25and impregnated it into Carnage's body,
03:27who became an avatar of Null on Earth during the Absolute Carnage saga.
03:31Null's Powers and Abilities
03:32Known as the God of Symbiotes, Null is extremely powerful
03:35and has almost complete dominance over all members of the Klyntar race,
03:38which includes symbiotes such as Venom and Carnage.
03:40He is capable of manipulating a living darkness,
03:43which is the raw material of the symbiotes.
03:45He also has several divine gifts, being almost immortal
03:48and capable of regenerating from fatal attacks
03:50and does not need to eat anything,
03:51as his own body produces his physiological needs.
03:54Finally, it is worth remembering that he is an excellent strategist and martial fighter.
03:58Profane Inspiration
03:59Many may not know, but both the spiral symbol
04:01and the title The Symbiote Carries of King in Black
04:03is actually a reference to one of the most popular cosmic horror books of all time,
04:06The King in Yellow, written by Robert W. Chambers.
04:09In the book, there are several short stories
04:11that revolve around a cursed piece that makes readers go crazy.
04:14This play tells of Hastur, the King in Yellow,
04:17ruler of a dark dimension called Carcosa.
04:19Null's creator, Donny Cates, has already said he was inspired by the work.
