00:00Seriously, I could just eat like a whole bowl of nougat like straight up.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo and today we're counting down our picks for the shows that are peak fall vibes.
00:12This has been a nice Thanksgiving. Very.
00:15Nicer for some than others though.
00:17Yeah.
00:19Number 10. What We Do in the Shadows.
00:22They may be vampires but Nandor the Relentless and his merry band of undead ghouls are not as
00:27scary as they try to be.
00:28In your own time, Nadja. Yes, good, excellent. So listen, we have received a letter and I would
00:35like very much to read it to you but not here. We want to go into the library.
00:40Why not here?
00:40I'd like to read it in there. It's just a formality.
00:42It'll sound exactly the same if you read it here than if you read it in there.
00:45I'm not going to disagree with you but it's not the point.
00:47Despite the wisdom of centuries, they're surprisingly incompetent.
00:52What We Do in the Shadows is based on the 2014 mockumentary by Taika Waititi
00:56and expands on its outlandish premise of vampires living in the modern world.
01:00Sire, this is an even worse idea than when we tried to invade Vienna.
01:04Certainly going to make you very ill.
01:06I am having pizza pie.
01:07They're equally mystified and disgusted by contemporary life.
01:11The show indulges in all the tropes and iconography of gothic horror but at the end of the day,
01:16it employs everything you love about sitcoms.
01:19Farrier deals with equine foot care, kind of a Nike for horses.
01:24Yes, everyone knows that this is a colony.
01:26Why must you come here and interrupt me when I am talking to...
01:29Who are you talking to, Nandor?
01:32This brood of vampires reads more like a group of irritable roommates
01:35than vicious blood drinkers of the night.
01:38You really are the most devious bastard in New York City.
01:43Well, we're not in New York City.
01:46We're in f***ing Staten Isle.
01:49Number 9. Only Murders in the Building.
01:52Longtime collaborators Steve Martin and Martin Short
01:54co-lead this homey murder mystery series with Selena Gomez.
01:58Do you like your beets?
02:01I had a yellow pair. I just loved them so much.
02:04And then, like an idiot, I leave them on the subway.
02:07The thing is, when you leave something on the subway, you don't know...
02:10Ding!
02:11In it, they play residents of the same New York apartment building
02:14who start a podcast covering the murder of one of their neighbors.
02:18As a result, they end up right in the middle of the mystery.
02:21I'm sorry, so you think that Sting, musical icon Sting, killed Tim Kono?
02:27I'm just a fan. He lives in the building and I always wanted a picture with him.
02:30The fall vibes are strong throughout.
02:33Featuring some of the coziest costuming in TV,
02:36the coat and hat budget alone must be astronomical.
02:39It's the perfect autumn watch for people who have a low tolerance
02:43for scary stuff but love to sleuth.
02:45We can't forget about tie-dye guy here.
02:48Charles, we can't just suspect someone because they're wearing a hoodie.
02:52It's like a huge no.
02:53I'm not doing that. Well, I am doing that, but not like that.
02:56Only Murders in the Building delivers as many laughs as it does thrills.
03:00Just don't think too hard about why no one has moved out of this building
03:04despite the high crime rate.
03:05How we doing? Any audience?
03:06Found it. Four listens so far.
03:08In only an hour. At this rate, we're gonna be like two million by Thursday.
03:15Any comments?
03:168. American Horror Story
03:18Ryan Murphy's anthology series blends hardcore horror thrills
03:21with campy performances and some of the most twisted narrative developments on TV.
03:26Oh, dark father, we offer this flesh up to you, blood, life and all.
03:36Jesus, Sabrina, relax.
03:38We're just messing with you.
03:40Each season tells a new self-contained story in one iconic American setting or another.
03:45Mm-mm. I must warn you about this property.
03:50You see, the previous owners soaked this ground in pesticides.
03:54Any fruit from this soil would be poison.
03:57American Horror Story is set in places as far-flung as Southern California to New England,
04:02centering monsters as varied as demons, killer clowns and even aliens.
04:07Whoever you are, wherever you come from, I implore you.
04:16Stop what you're doing.
04:18Stop.
04:19While every season has its fans,
04:21the third installment, Coven, has some of the strongest autostethics.
04:26Where else can you get series regulars Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson
04:29stomping the streets of New Orleans dressed as witches?
04:33Sign us up.
04:34I have half a mind to enchant the locks after you leave.
04:38Don't make me drop a house on you.
04:417. Twin Peaks
04:43Diane, 11.30am, February 24th. Entering the town of Twin Peaks.
04:48The heart and originality that fuels this transcendental and surreal series cannot be
04:53overstated. Twin Peaks, co-created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, centers the murder of Laura Palmer,
05:00a teenager whose double life and tragic end exposes the ugliness bubbling up
05:04underneath a Northwestern logging town.
05:06One day, my log will have something to say about this.
05:11My log saw something that night.
05:14Really? What did it see?
05:18Ask it.
05:19Full of zany non-sequiturs and genuinely moving,
05:22earnest and over-the-top scenes of grief, the show is truly one of a kind.
05:27What is going on in this house?
05:34Talk to any Twin Peaks fan and you'll realize just how much of a grip its distinctive feeling
05:39and striking orange and blue-toned images has on anyone who's seen it.
05:44Fellas, coincidence and fate figure largely in our lives.
05:496. The Twilight Zone
05:51There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man.
05:55If you know nothing else about this long-lasting series, you know the theme song.
06:00The Twilight Zone has been revived several times since its 1959 premiere,
06:05most recently by Jordan Peele in 2019.
06:08But it's hard to beat the original.
06:10The show wasn't designed just to creep you out.
06:13That's not fair. That's not fair at all.
06:17Creator and on-screen narrator Rod Serling conceived it as a palatable
06:21yet censor-friendly way to cover social issues such as racism on primetime TV.
06:26If I didn't want the transformation, I wouldn't have to have it, would I?
06:29Darling, what are you talking about?
06:32The transformation is the most marvelous thing that could happen to a person.
06:37Well, I could wait a little while, couldn't I?
06:40Don't worry, darling, you're just nervous.
06:42Its stories about outsiders and the existential threat of greed,
06:45war and poverty are as profound as they are engaging.
06:49Known for its twist endings and foreboding atmosphere,
06:52The Twilight Zone is just the thing to get you in the spooky season mood.
06:56Thank you and good night.
06:585. Charmed
06:59Phoebe, Prue and Piper Halliwell are just ordinary women,
07:03before they discover their magical lineage.
07:05Look, I have just found out that I am a witch,
07:08that my sisters are witches and that we have powers that will apparently
07:12unleash all forms of evil.
07:13Evil that is apparently going to come looking for us, so excuse me, Phoebe,
07:17but I'm not exactly in a homeopathic mood right now.
07:20Then, all hell breaks loose on them and their fellow San Franciscans.
07:24This WB classic sees the three sisters using their newfound witchcraft to
07:28protect the world from myriad demons and evil entities.
07:32It's over.
07:324. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
07:34Given its premise, new viewers might be shocked with how
07:37surprisingly warm and comforting Charmed is.
07:40Hey, I'm sorry, but some of us have a job.
07:42And some of us have fun.
07:43And some of us are having a really bad hair day.
07:46Legions of fans still start their annual rewatch as soon as the first leaf falls.
07:55Even the iconic image of the sisters' Victorian house
07:58is synonymous with the season for many.
08:004. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
08:03If being a teenager wasn't complicated enough,
08:05this classic sitcom sees 16-year-old Sabrina Spellman discovering she's a witch.
08:22She lives with her two eccentric aunts, hilarious witches who take her under their wing.
08:27Then there's Salem, the sassiest talking cat you've ever seen.
08:37Merging teen issues with magical mishaps,
08:39Sabrina the Teenage Witch remains a seminal show for an entire generation.
08:51While the Netflix update took the Archie Comics character in a more chilling direction,
08:56for audiences who prefer more lighthearted fall fare, it's hard to beat the sitcom.
09:153. Wednesday
09:17The Addams Family's lovably sadistic daughter is given new life in this 2022 Netflix adaptation.
09:26The show finds Wednesday Addams attending a school for teens who share her difficulty fitting in,
09:42although even that's putting it lightly.
09:56She's soon thrown into a murder mystery involving monsters and paranormal abilities.
10:04Carefully towing the line between horror, comedy, and teen drama,
10:08Wednesday went viral for actress Jenna Ortega's 60s-inspired novelty dance.
10:17But there are a lot more wicked and whimsically spooky delights to enjoy.
10:21The show is also set in Jericho, Vermont,
10:24and there's nothing like the sight of a cozy New England town in the fall time.
10:412. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
10:52Buffy Summers may be from Sunnydale,
10:57but things aren't all sunshine and rainbows on this WB fantasy series.
11:02Sarah Michelle Gellar plays the eponymous slayer, whose duty to hunt vampires and
11:06other mythological monsters really gets in the way of her having a normal teenage experience.
11:21Even by today's standards, Buffy is a total badass. She and her friend group,
11:32nicknamed the Scooby Gang, deal with a host of monsters,
11:35from the classic vamps to literal demons to gym class.
11:39It's gloomy atmosphere, charming special effects,
11:51and heart-stopping storylines make it an essential October binge watch.

12:181. Gilmore Girls
12:25Between all that small-town charm, the copious cups of coffee, and the love between its central
12:30mother and daughter pair, it's hard not to feel all fuzzy inside when you watch Gilmore Girls.
12:35It doesn't matter how much Lorelai Gilmore loves snow.
12:43This show is full incarnate. The title screen is literally a shot of the fictional
12:48Star's Hollow Connecticut engulfed by orange and red foliage. Outside of Rory and Lorelai's
12:53relationship, the show is full of eccentric and lovable characters who feel real despite their
12:58various quirks. If you're not careful, you can burn through a whole season of Gilmore Girls
13:08faster than a pile of leaves. The stakes are low, the vibes are good, and it's as warm and
13:13comforting as some freshly baked pumpkin spice muffins. What show do you re-watch when fall
13:22comes along? Drop your recommendations in the comments.
