00:00Right, we're in iconic Leicester Square in London. How does it feel to be at this incredible
00:04UK premiere?
00:05Yeah, it's amazing. It's kind of surreal, but brilliant. I feel very lucky to be here.
00:10And yeah, it's a pinch yourself moment, a real bucket list take for me.
00:14What was it like stepping into the shoes of the iconic Harvey Dent? How did that feel?
00:18Yeah, wonderful, terrifying, exciting all at once. Yeah, it's such an honour. There's
00:25so many great actors who've gone before me with that role, and there's a real kind of
00:28heritage to the part in terms of the comic book history, and so many people who care
00:32about this character. So there was certainly a pressure, but that's a real privilege and
00:36something I had to kind of try and relish, I guess.
00:38Let's talk about being with Joachim and Lady Gaga in those scenes. How special was that
00:43moment being with those two?
00:45Amazing. I was lucky enough to spend five or six weeks in their company, and I'm still
00:50not over it, I don't think. Still haven't quite come to terms with that. Yeah, they're
00:55such incredible creatives and such gifted and kind of generous people, and there was
01:01such an atmosphere of collaboration on set, which is not necessarily what I expected.
01:05It feels like for such a huge movie with such amazing scope, it was made like an indie film,
01:09and there was a real chemistry and collaboration and just a genuine kind of respect and dignity
01:16for everyone that was doing their job, and yeah, it feels like I'm a competition winner,
01:21so what can I say?
01:22The fact that Todd Phillips is behind creating that environment for you, let's talk about
01:26him and his process and how he works.
01:28Yeah, he's such a confident filmmaker. He really has a complete understanding of what
01:33he wants, and for an actor, that really puts you at ease. You know you're in safe hands,
01:38and he had kind of complete creative autonomy over this project. It's his baby, and that's
01:43a testament to the studio, I think, for trusting him with that, and then in turn him trusting
01:48us, I suppose, and yeah, it was such a pleasure to work with him, and I learned an awful lot.
01:53And why should audiences see this in the UK cinema?
01:55I mean, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, like what more do you want? It's an incredible
02:01spectacle. It's a cinematic treat, and it has to be seen on a big screen with a proper
02:08sound system. Yeah, movie theatres were made for this kind of film.
