Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace came close to completing the first successful high-altitude vertical recovery flight test for its Nebula-1 rocket on September 22. Stunning 360-degree drone footage captured the dramatic, fiery conclusion of the test.

The company explained that during the 180-second flight, Nebula-1’s propellant consumption—60 kg per second—caused significant changes in weight and speed, especially during landing.

In the final 3.8 seconds, a thrust control issue caused the rocket to hover 8 meters above the ground, forcing a shutdown to prevent safety risks.
