00:00Are you two ready for an exciting ride?
00:05It's story time!
00:07So let's see what you did today.
00:10Oh yes, today's story is called...
00:14I'm glad we're finally here.
00:17This bag of old clothes is starting to feel heavy.
00:20So is mine.
00:21Do you think we brought enough clothes for the play?
00:23I think we have enough for three plays.
00:25I really had fun looking for things to use for costumes.
00:28Me too. I found some neat stuff for the shoemaker's costume, suspenders and everything.
00:33Wait till you see what I brought for the elf costumes.
00:43My mom helped me make some really cute outfits.
00:45A neighbor gave me some old clothes for the part of the shoemaker's wife.
00:48You'll really look grown up in that.
00:50Uh-huh.
00:51What's your brother bringing, Carlos?
00:53He's bringing some tools our dad loaned us.
00:55He should be here pretty soon.
00:59I can't wait to put on my costume.
01:01Me too. I just love getting dressed up.
01:04After we get our clothes sorted out, we can get our shoes down from the treehouse.
01:08What about you, Barney? Would you like to dress up too?
01:14Barney!
01:15Hi there.
01:16I like dressing up, but I think this shawl would look much better on you, Min.
01:22Thanks, Barney.
01:23What are you doing with all those clothes?
01:26We're putting on a play, The Elves and the Shoemaker.
01:29Oh, that sounds like fun.
01:31We just need one more person.
01:35Hi, everybody.
01:36Hi, little brother.
01:37Hi, one.
01:38Sorry I'm late.
01:39It's okay. Everybody's here now.
01:41Oh, I just love it when we're all together.
01:48The more we get together, together, together
01:52The more we get together, the happier we'll be
01:56Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends
02:00The more we get together, the happier we'll be
02:08The more we get together, together, together
02:12The more we get together, the happier we'll be
02:16Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends
02:21The more we get together, the happier we'll be
02:30Hey, Min, let's show Barney the things we've been making for the play.
02:34Oh, I'd love to see them.
02:36Come on, Barney. They're over here in the art center.
02:38Oh, okay.
02:39Uh-oh. What's the matter, Juan?
02:41I lost my hammer. It must have fallen out of the way here.
02:44Will you help me look for it?
02:46Sure.
02:52I hope it's somewhere around here.
02:57Look! Somebody left a pile of shoes under the tree.
03:02Those are our shoes.
03:04The ones we've been collecting for the play.
03:06Come on, Juan.
03:14What's going on?
03:16I don't know.
03:19What's going on here?
03:30Hello? Who's up there?
03:35There's a lot of them.
03:37I want the pink ones, B.J.
03:40Okay, Sissy.
03:42Oh, yay! Yes!
03:45Oh, this one won't fit either.
03:51That's a gross shoe.
03:53I still haven't found any shoes that fit me.
04:03Hello? Is anybody up there?
04:06Did you hear bells, B.J.?
04:08Uh-uh.
04:09Oh, okay.
04:14You're not answering.
04:16Have you ever been up in the treehouse?
04:18Not yet, but I'd like to.
04:20Come on, let's go take a look.
04:24Sure is big.
04:26Our parents and teachers built it for a school project.
04:29We use it for all kinds of stuff.
04:36Oh, these are way too small.
04:40Baby Bob, B.J., what are you doing with our shoes?
04:44Oh, hi, Julie.
04:46We heard you were going to get dressed up in costumes and put on a play.
04:50And we wanted to dress up, too.
04:53But we can't find any shoes our size.
04:56Oh.
04:57And we've looked at them all.
04:59I know. They're all in a pile on the ground.
05:02Huh?
05:05Uh-oh.
05:06Ay-yi-yi.
05:08I guess we got carried away.
05:11Oh, we better go down and pick them all up.
05:14Oh, okay.
05:15Come on, Sissy.
05:18Oh, hi there.
05:20I'm sorry I made a mess.
05:23I'll pick them all up right now.
05:26That's okay, Baby Bob.
05:27We needed to get them down anyway.
05:29Oh, then I did good?
05:31You did.
05:32But next time, try to be more careful.
05:34That's being polite.
05:35And being polite is part of having good manners.
05:39Excuse me.
05:44All right.
05:45Here we go.
05:46Yeah.
05:47Time to be polite.
05:56Please take it away, Ben.
06:01My parents started teaching me when I was just two
06:04All about manners and the right things to do
06:07They told me learn to say thank you
06:09And learn to say please
06:11And learn to say excuse me if you happen to sneeze
06:14Whoops.
06:15Good manners!
06:16Yeah.
06:18Good manners!
06:20Yes.
06:21Good manners are important to everyone in the world
06:25Tell us about it, man.
06:27My parents kept on teaching me when I was three
06:30And then the more I learned, the more that I could see
06:33That there's a way to do it wrong
06:35There's a way to do it right
06:37Everybody use your manners now and be polite
06:40Okay.
06:41Good manners!
06:42All right.
06:44Good manners!
06:47Good manners are important to everyone in the world
06:56Get ready for blasters!
07:03Yes.
07:12Good manners!
07:15Good manners!
07:18Good manners are important to everyone in the world
07:22One more time, Ben.
07:24Good manners are important to everyone in the world
07:29Yes, yes, yes.
07:34Sometimes I forget to use good manners
07:38Sissy just got excited when she saw all those shoes
07:43So did I.
07:44I didn't know we collected so many shoes
07:47And so many interesting ones

08:11One of you would like just as well
08:13Okay, you can have this pair, Juanito
08:16Thanks, Carlos
08:17That was very nice, Carlos
08:21I know I shouldn't fight with my little brother
08:23But sometimes I just get mad at him
08:27My little brother, he's number one
08:32When we're together we have lots of fun
08:36Sometimes he makes me mad

10:19Well, what should we do with all these shoes?

12:34I'd like a pair of black patent leather party shoes with straps and buckle.
12:38Okay. I'll need to measure your foot first so I can find the size that's just right for you.
12:54Size one and a half. I'll be right back.
12:59What are you doing?
13:01I'm checking to make sure there's room in the front of your shoes for your toes.
13:06It's just right. I'll just buckle this for you and you'll be ready to go.
13:10Thanks. I really like shoes that buckle.

14:35They do look like my size, don't they?
14:38I'll lace them up good and tight.
14:40Wouldn't want them to come off while I'm dancing.
14:45You've got enough room for your toes, Barney.
14:49They fit just right.
14:52They make me feel like dancing.
14:55Well, I think you should dance in them to try them out.

16:17And I'd like to have shoes like that.
16:19So would I.
16:20Me too.
16:21They're not like anything you'd see in a neighborhood shoe store.
16:23If we made our own shoes, they could be whatever we want.
16:26How could we make our own shoes?
16:28This looks like a job for...
16:32The Barney Bag!
16:39Well, I've been looking in my Barney Bag
16:42And I found a lot of things
16:45Gizmos and gadgets and odds and ends
16:48And even some old strings
16:51So let's ask ourselves the question
16:54What can we make today?
16:57With imagination and the Barney Bag
17:00Let's see what we can make today
17:02Yeah!
17:03Let's see what we can make today
17:12I see you're cutting a hole in the top for your foot, right?
17:16Yeah!
17:17Cutting!
17:18So after you cut the lid
17:21Then you put it back on the box and you tape it, right?
17:24Yeah!
17:25Oh, great!
17:28It's time to paint
17:29Yeah!
17:35Now it's time to decorate
17:40Buttons
17:41For wheels, huh?
17:44Look at the ribbons and red grass
17:52I think you all did a super job on your shoes
17:56Just like real cobblers
17:58What's a cobbler, Barney?
18:00Cobbler is another name for a shoemaker
18:03And the table where he works is called a cobbler's bench
18:07Oh, so if we're pretend cobblers
18:09This table could be a cobbler's bench, couldn't it?
18:12Sure could!
18:17All around the cobbler's bench
18:19The monkey chased the weasel
18:21The monkey thought it was all in fun
18:23Pop goes the weasel
18:29All around the cobbler's bench
18:31The monkey chased the weasel
18:33The monkey thought it was all in fun
18:35Pop goes the weasel
18:37A penny for a spool of thread
18:39A penny for a needle
18:42That's the way the money goes
18:44Pop goes the weasel
18:50The painter needs a letter and brush
18:52The artist needs an easel
18:54The dancers need a thinner stick
18:56Pop goes the weasel
18:58Find the time to wait inside
19:00Or to tell the reason why
19:02Kiss me quick, I'm off, goodbye!
19:04Pop goes the weasel
19:12These pretend shoes are great, Barney!
19:15But how do you make real shoes?
19:17Well, first you start with a piece of leather
19:20I brought some today for the play
19:22Would you like me to get it?
19:23Sure, Julie, thank you
19:25It's right in here
19:27The shoemaker cuts the leather into pieces
19:29And then sews the pieces together to make a shoe
19:33That reminds me
19:34We better start practicing our play about the elves and the shoemaker
19:37Good idea! Let's put on our costumes
19:39Barney, will you please help us by reading the story?
19:42I'd love to, Min
19:44I'll bet Baby Bop and DJ would like to see this
19:47I'll go get them
19:48Great! This is going to be tremendous!
19:53This is the story of the elves and the shoemaker
19:57Good idea!
20:01Once there was a shoemaker who was very nice and worked very hard
20:10But one day he was sad
20:12He only had enough leather to make one more pair of shoes
20:22The next morning, much to his surprise, he found a pair of shoes
20:28Someone had already made them
20:32The shoes were so special
20:34A customer gave the shoemaker enough money to buy leather for two more pairs of shoes
20:41So, that night, he laid out the two pieces of leather
20:50And the next morning, the shoemaker found two pairs of beautiful shoes on his bench
20:57The same thing happened again and again every morning
21:02The shoemaker carefully studied the shoes
21:05And little by little, he learned to make shoes that were almost as beautiful as the ones he found every morning
21:14One night, the shoemaker and his wife stayed up very late to see who was making the shoes for them
21:23They saw two elves, dressed in old, tattered clothing, happily making new shoes
21:30Look at their old clothes. They've been so nice to us. We should make new clothes for them
21:35So, the shoemaker and his wife worked together to make the elves beautiful new clothes
21:42That night, they left the clothes out for the elves
21:47When the elves found their new clothes, they jumped for joy because it was just what they needed
21:55Now everyone was happy
21:57The end
22:01All of you did great
22:06I really like that
22:08Me too, me too. I wish some elves would make new shoes for me
22:14That would be cool, but there aren't any elves around here, Sissy. It's just a story
22:21Come on, let's go play in the treehouse
22:25Bye, everybody
22:30Poor Baby Bop and B.J. I wish we had some shoes that would fit them
22:36Too bad we can't make them shoes like the elves in the story
22:40Hey, that gives me an idea. Maybe we could do something that would make their shoes seem new
22:46Make their shoes seem new? What could we do?
22:53That sounds like a great idea
22:57Hey, where did everybody go, B.J.?
23:01I don't know, Sissy
23:03Oh, look. Someone left a box
23:09It says, to Baby Bop and B.J.
23:12Oh, a present?
23:16Oh, look. Pretty
23:23Hey, what's that, B.J.?
23:25It's a poem. Roses are red, violets are blue
23:30Here's something to make your shoes seem like new
23:35Surprise!
23:37Thank you
23:39These ribbons are pretty
23:41Oh, a cool shoelace
23:43Could we help you put the ribbons and shoelaces on?
23:45Oh, okay
23:47Sure
23:48All right
23:51Those are very pretty ribbons
23:56Oh, they're beautiful
23:59My shoes look just like new
24:02Mine, too
24:04They sure are colorful
24:06Thanks, everybody
24:07Oh, yes, thank you
24:09You're welcome
24:11There may not be any elves around here, Baby Bop
24:14But there are people who like to do nice things for you
24:18Your friends
24:20Oh
24:23I love you, you love me
24:28We're a happy family
24:33With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you
24:38Won't you say you love me, too?
24:44Oh, thank you, everybody
24:48I love you, you love me
24:53We're best friends like friends should be
24:57With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you
25:02Won't you say you love me, too?
25:09Oh, yay!
25:11Come on, Susie, it's time to go
25:14Okay
25:15Bye, everybody
25:16Bye-bye, everybody
25:17See you later
25:18Take care now
25:19See you soon
25:20Bye
25:22Bye, Barney
25:23Bye, Barney
25:24See you soon
25:25See you, everybody
25:26Take care now
25:27It sure was fun
25:37Hey, everybody, it's time for Barney Says
25:43Hello again to all my friends
25:45I'm glad you came to play
25:47Our fun and learning never ends
25:49Here's what we did today
25:53We sure had fun with our feet today, didn't we?
25:57You can make silly shoes from shoe boxes just like we did
26:02Or play a shoe store
26:04I just love my dancing shoes
26:07Do you have a favorite pair of shoes to wear when you dance?
26:12There are so many different kinds of shoes
26:15And they always come in twos
26:18We used colorful bows and shoelaces to make Baby Bop's and BJ's old shoes very special
26:25You can do the same for yourself or a friend you love
26:30And remember, I love you
