00:00Ayesha and SFI have announced their candidacy for this school election.
00:05We have with us Ayesha and SFI Gatwandhan's chairperson, Savi Gupta.
00:11We know from Savi that what issues they are going for the election.
00:14And since she is a student, what are the big issues of the students in her mind.
00:18This time, Ayesha and SFI have three female candidates in the panel.
00:23Last time also, Ayesha had three female candidates.
00:26This time, the women's participation is limited to tokenism.
00:32In ABVP and NSUI, there is only one female candidate.
00:36She is usually the joint secretary.
00:39In the meantime, we have come as the voice of women, as the voice of common students,
00:44as the voice of marginalized students.
00:46Because we want to stop the politics of money-mustard in DU.
00:50It has to be stopped.
00:52This time, there are issues of fee hikes.
00:54How one-sided attacks are happening in DU and public universities.
00:58And we are seeing privatization.
01:00We are seeing that DU students do not have hostels.
01:03Students come from all over the country.
01:05From UP, Bihar, Haryana.
01:06They come from everywhere and find that there are no hostels.
01:09Only 2-3% students in DU have hostels.
01:11And they have to live in expensive PG, expensive flats.
01:15And there is no Rent Control Act.
01:16So, the Rent Control Act has to be implemented.
01:18We see that ICC, Internal Complaints Committee, is not functioning.
01:21It does not have elections democratically.
01:23There are no gender sensitization cells.
01:25We see that courses like SEC and WAC have come.
01:28Now we are being taught Yoga and Fit India in colleges.
01:30And the specialization for which we came to DU is getting worse.
01:33It is getting diluted.
01:35After that, there are other issues.
01:36For example, the scheme of internal assessment should be revised.
01:39Marks of 45% have started to be added.
01:42Now the student gets lost.
01:45He just gives Viva all day.
01:47He writes internals, writes his assignments.
01:51There are other issues.
01:52That is why we have come to the panel this time.
01:54We are fighting DUSU this time.
01:56You said about Money and Muscle Power.
01:59You said that Vidyati Bhashad and NSUI both use Money and Muscle Power.
02:03They also win elections.
02:04So, do you think you will be able to do something different this time?
02:08Will you be able to come forward?
02:10Or will you be able to make your presence strong?
02:12See, like every time, this time also.
02:16See, in DUSU, Money and Muscle Politics is a truth.
02:19We cannot run away from it.
02:21NSUI and ABVP are such organizations.
02:24With the support of Money and Muscle,
02:27the new student who is coming after passing 12th,
02:30they make him leave his name.
02:32There are no issues.
02:33There is no talk of issues.
02:34But in the midst of that, ISA and SFI are such organizations
02:37that show the student the medium of alternative politics.
02:40There are better options.
02:42You don't have to vote only for money and cars.
02:45There are people who are talking about issues.
02:47People like you and my common students are raising their issues.
02:52And this time, especially, there is an alliance.
02:55And our effort is to reach out to maximum students.
02:58To show maximum students an alternative option.
03:01That you don't have to give up.
03:04There is a big section of DU students who don't know how to vote.
03:07Because they are worried.
03:08They think there is no alternative option.
03:10These are the people who are going to win.
03:13So this time we are very hopeful.
03:15As always, we are putting our best foot forward.
03:18And we are very motivated.
03:20And hopeful that there is going to be a good result in DUSU.
03:24And the confidence of the students will increase.
03:26Especially with this alliance.
03:28In the DUSU election, the election committee always says that
03:31there is a limit of 5,000 rupees.
03:33That there is a limit of 5,000 rupees.
03:35Do you think anything can be done in that?
03:37Or should this limit be increased?
03:38Or is it being violated?
03:39The committee is not taking any action.
03:41Look, it is being violated very clearly.
03:45Violation is a very small word.
03:48Each candidate spends lakhs of rupees.
03:51And these are the people of ABVP and NCUI.
03:53Each coding is charged 15,000 to 20,000 rupees.
03:58So it is being violated clearly.
04:00But the union in power, they don't take any action.
04:03Because these are the people who are violating these rules.
04:07So I don't think there is a need to increase the rates.
04:10In fact, the way of campaigning is wrong.
04:12We don't follow these ways that big cars are coming.
04:15Crackers are exploding in our campuses.
04:17The election should be fought on issues.
04:20There should be a one-on-one conversation.
04:22There should be debate, discussion, dialogue with the students.
04:25And no money is spent in that.
04:26It takes time, your intention, your heart, your brain.
04:31And we are ready to invest that.
04:33We don't need to invest money.
04:36Where are you from?
04:37How did your interest in the DOSU election increase?
04:40And do you believe that the DOSU election has the power to solve the problems of students?
04:47I am from Delhi.
04:50I live in Rohini.
04:52And I did my undergraduation from DU.
04:55And when I came to this Delhi University in 2019,
04:59I was very excited about DOSU.
05:01And then I saw how literally hooliganism is happening.
05:04And most of the people I see are not talking about the issues.
05:09And then I was curious about the people who are talking about the issues.
05:14And then I joined ISI.
05:15And then I came to know that there are common students like me,
05:18who talk about alternative politics,
05:20who talk about changing the society,
05:22who talk about making it better.
05:24Since then, my interest increased.
05:26And after that, of course, now I am a law student,
05:29I got to know how things got better, my understanding increased.
05:34And then I was told that you should fight.
05:39So I have come to this field,
05:41that a strong woman candidate should come to DOSU specially.
05:45And what you asked about DOSU,
05:47that there is full power here, of course there is.
05:49DOSU is a very big medium, you can bring change.
05:51Delhi University is a very prestigious institute.
05:53Lakhs of students study here.
05:54Students come from all over the world.
05:56And DOSU has a very big responsibility.
05:58We are made to believe that they have been in power for 10 years,
06:01they are not doing anything.
06:02So we have an illusion that nothing can be done by staying in DOSU.
06:05Because they are not doing anything.
06:06But a lot can be done.
06:08And there should be an intention to do it.
06:10A lot can be done from DOSU.
06:12Thank you so much.
