In Islam, after a divorce, certain steps are taken to ensure that all options for reconciliation have been exhausted and both parties are treated with respect and justice. Divorce is permitted as a last resort and is discouraged. The process involves a waiting period (iddah) for the woman, and financial responsibilities for the man during this period. After iddah, the woman may remarry if she chooses.

00:09is very serious depressing time.
00:12People get extremely, extremely
00:13depressed after a divorce.
00:15Right?
00:16And nowadays we made it like,
00:17you know, even engagements are so big,
00:19such a big deal.
00:19After engagements,
00:20people get seriously depressed.
00:21So imagine after
00:22like an actual marriage and a divorce.
00:24Right?
00:25My life is over.
00:25I'm blacklisted.
00:26I'm stamped.
00:27You know,
00:28nobody's gonna look towards me again.
00:30My life is over.
00:30I'm in humiliation to my family.
00:32I have no future ahead of me, etc., etc.
00:34Guys and girls.
00:35And even girls more so.
00:37Allah gives hope in this ayah
00:38to divorce people.
00:40There's an ayah for divorce people.
00:44Allah will make free of need.
00:45Allah will take care of you.
00:47Everyone.
00:48And He will give you from His vast treasures,
ู† ุณูŽุนูŽุชูู‡ู
00:51from His vastness Himself.
00:53Okay?
00:54From His vastness,
00:55Allah will take care of you
00:56and He will provide.
00:59And Allah had always been vast, encompassing.
01:02And full of wisdom.
01:03So there's wisdom in what you're going through.
01:08Once again,
01:09Allah alone owns.
01:11Whatever's in the skies,
01:12whatever's in the earth.
01:13The husband says,
01:13why did she leave me?
01:15Why did I get divorced?
01:16She was mine.
01:17Allah says,
01:17no, actually,
01:18everything's mine.
01:21Why did I lose my family?
01:22You didn't lose your family.
01:23Everything's Allah's.
01:26These aren't just ayaat that you just say,
01:28let's bunch all of these together,
01:29they belong in one place.
01:30No, no, no, no, no.
01:30Every one of them has their place.
01:32Allah is reminding this person
01:34who's gone through a difficulty,
01:35look,
01:35he wasn't yours and she wasn't yours,
01:37they both belong to Allah.
01:40You know?
01:45And we had given a strong, stern advice.
01:49He sought to give strong,
01:50like almost like a will
01:53to those who were given the book much before you
01:56and also to you
01:57that you should maintain the caution of Allah.
01:59Be cautious of Allah,
02:00be aware of Allah,
02:01be in recognition of Allah.
02:03Look at all the ayaat of divorce,
02:04what keeps coming up in Surah Al-Baqarah,
02:05you remember?
02:07Once again,
02:10And if you are ungrateful after that
02:12and you deny after that,
02:15He repeats it again.
02:16And if you deny and you go,
02:18and you don't appreciate what's being said to you,
02:20then it doesn't change the fact that
02:22Allah still owns everything.
02:24Whether you recognize it or not,
02:25reality is still reality.
02:29And Allah Himself is free of need.
02:31Allah would have made you free of need,
02:32but if you don't come towards Allah again
02:34and become grateful to Allah,
02:35He doesn't need your gratitude.
02:37Allah Himself is free of need
02:39and He is self-praised.
02:40ุญูŽู…ููŠุฏ
02:41The quality of deserving hamd is constantly His.
02:45So the second time around that Allah says,
02:49It's like wa'id, it's like a warning.
02:50Allah doesn't need you,
02:51He already owns everything.
02:53Now the third time,
02:54and the third time it's positive reinforcement.
03:00Allah alone owns everything in the skies and the earth,
03:03Allah is enough to take care of you.
03:05The third time, it's coming back to positive reinforcement.
03:08The same principle again.
03:10So Allah is instilling the lesson of ihsan that came before,
03:14He's instilling it now in actual life situations.
03:17When you're going through divorce,
03:18remember,
03:21When you're going through difficulty,
03:22remember,
03:24When your problems aren't being solved,
03:32Allah turns to all people.
03:33And this is ayat madaniyyah.
03:38But He says to all people,
03:39if He wanted,
03:41He would have removed,
03:42wiped out all of you people.
03:45People.
03:46Had He wanted,
03:47He would have removed all of you.
03:50And He would have brought another people.
03:52He doesn't need you.
03:54Remember in previous ayah He said,
03:57Now He's showing you how gunny He is.
03:59It's an expression of how gunny He is.
04:01He doesn't need you.
04:02He doesn't need you to do hamd.
04:03He doesn't need you for anything.
04:04He could remove you all entirely.
04:10And Allah has always been completely capable
04:12of doing such things.
04:13Don't you...
04:14You are not in a position to say,
04:15Allah would never do that.
04:17Allah wouldn't do that.
04:18He can do anything He wants.
04:19And He's always had that ability.
04:23Whoever wanted...
04:25And this is coming back to the ayat of Nifaq also.
04:27That subject that's mixed in into this surah.
04:30Whoever had wanted the compensations of worldly life.
04:33They had pursuits of worldly life.
04:34I mean,
04:35look, all of us have worldly pursuits.
04:37You want to finish your education.
04:38You want to get a good career.
04:39You want to have decent savings.
04:40You want to get a house.
04:41You want to move to a nice apartment.
04:42Whatever it is.
04:43All of us have worldly aspirations.
04:45No, there's not a guy that I don't know
04:47that doesn't think about...
04:48That's a nice car.
04:50That's a cool house.
04:51Something.
04:52Whether it's sports or...
04:54You know,
04:54TVs or whatever.
04:55Some people want things in dunya.
04:57And that's fine.
04:59But Allah says,
05:02Allah has in His possession
05:04compensations of worldly life and the afterlife.
05:07So why would you go to Allah
05:09and sell yourself short?
05:10Why settle for less and ask just for dunya?
05:24Ask for both.
05:26Ask Allah for good here and the next life.
05:28Why not?
05:34And Allah is in full...
05:35He constantly hears.
05:38And He constantly sees.
05:39And this hearing and seeing is very beautiful
05:41in this ayah in particular.
05:42Because He hears the one who asks Allah.
05:45So the ุณูŽู…ููŠุน refers to the du'a.
05:48He hears the one who asks Allah for dunya or akhirah.
05:50He hears their du'a.
05:52What does he see?
05:53He sees their behavior afterwards too.
05:55Because you know, you don't just make du'a,
05:56you have to act a certain way to become worthy.
05:59So I saw that you were just making du'a of,
06:01you know, ya Allah, exam tomorrow.
06:04You know,
06:11Give me the ultimate aid
06:13that comes especially from You.
06:14And now the du'a is over.
06:15Then you hit play on Netflix again.
06:19So you heard your du'a
06:19and you saw what you're watching too.
06:24They're together.
06:26So you know,
06:27so the contradiction between the speech and the action is visible.
06:33Those of you who have iman,
06:37Stand up.
06:38Stand and firmly stand up.
06:40ู‚ูŽูˆูŽู‘ุงู…
06:41As opposed to ู‚ุงุฆู….
06:42ู‚ุงุฆู… is the ุงุณู…
06:44ู‚ูˆุงู… is the ุงุณู… ู…
06:46Stand up as firmly as you possibly can.
06:49With justice.
06:51Also means stand by justice.
06:55This is ุญูŽุงู„.
06:56In order that you may be witnesses to Allah.
06:59While you are witnesses to Allah.
07:01Or it could also be ู…ูŽูู’ุฑููˆู„ ู„ูŽู‡ู
07:03So that you may become witnesses to Allah.
07:07Witnesses for the sake of Allah.
07:09This ayah is one of the central ayat in the Qur'an
07:12that have to do with justice.
07:13If somebody is studying the subject matter of justice in the Qur'an,
07:16they will start with studying two ayat.
07:17This is one of the two.
07:19The other of the two comes in Surah Al-Ma'idah.
07:22I'll explain the comparison between them in detail
07:24when we get to Surah Al-Ma'idah.
07:26At least some details I'll share with you.
07:27But here at least one part of it I wanna share with you.
07:30Justice is approached from two points of view.
07:33One point of view is,
07:34you're in a position of favoring someone.
07:39You can get away from justice
07:40because you are favoring someone.
07:42Maybe you have loyalties of family, tribe, nation, country.
07:46There's different loyalties and labels we have.
07:49And as a result, we depart from being fair
07:52because of the biases.
07:54The other kind of injustice is,
07:55you are being unfair out of not of love for someone
07:58but of hate of someone.
08:00Right? So the justice is the middle path
08:03and you can depart from justice out of bias for someone
08:05or bias against someone.
08:07This ayah will be the ayah that deters us from bias
08:10for someone.
08:12The ayah in Surah Al-Ma'idah will keep us from bias against someone.
08:16So the two sides of the coin are addressed.
08:18That's what helps us understand also how surahs have,
08:21you know, they have complementary relationships with each other.
08:26Even if standing up for justice,
08:28standing by justice,
08:29for the sake of Allah, being witnesses to Allah,
08:32means that you have to stand up against your own selves.
08:35Even if it means you have to go to court
08:36and testify against what you yourself did.
08:40Even if you have to testify against both parents.
08:43Or if you have to testify against the closest relatives.
08:47Somebody might say,
08:48not my parents, Allah says,
08:49yes, your parents.
08:51But the parents have so many rights.
08:52Yes, not when it comes to justice though.
08:55If they did wrong, they did wrong.
08:58If they didn't give the right, they didn't give the right.
09:00Our loyalties in the end are to justice.
09:08Even if he'd be wealthy or poor,
09:10sometimes people will favor the wealthy
09:12because they say, come on,
09:14his elite family is a taxpayer,
09:16his father supports so many charities,
09:18we should go easy on this kid.
09:20We don't want to disturb his dad.
09:22Right?
09:23So, go easy on him, go easy on him on the trial.
09:26On the other side, there's another kind.
09:27There's a poor person,
09:28and you say, he robbed a store.
09:30He robbed a grocery store.
09:32Or he robbed a bank or something.
09:33You say, well, he had a tough childhood,
09:34go easy on him.
09:36He had a difficult circumstance in his life,
09:38and as a result, his crime is more justifiable.
09:40Nope.
09:41Not because somebody is wealthy,
09:42they will be given an easy hand.
09:44And not because someone is poor,
09:45they'll be given an easy hand.
09:47You know, this subject is a very deep one in the Qur'an,
09:49and in Islamic studies in general.
09:51And it's one of the most ignored topics in Islamic studies,
09:54in Islamic discourse.
09:55The concept of social justice.
09:57And the concept of just ethics across the board.
10:00Family ethics,
10:01you know, business ethics,
10:02and social ethics and social fairness.
10:04It's not common discourse.
