00:00Pinoys in Lebanon are being chased by a growing chaos between Israel and the Hezbollah group.
00:06We will now talk to the Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cakdak.
00:12Good morning, Secretary Cakdak.
00:15Good morning to you and to your listeners and viewers. Good morning as well.
00:20Secretary, Israel and Hezbollah are now exchanging attacks.
00:24Are there many injured, injured, or missing Pinoys in Lebanon?
00:31The reports we are receiving at the moment, there are no reports of injured or injured Filipinos
00:45in the exchange of attacks between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces.
00:51We hope it stays that way and we hope the situation will improve.
00:57Are there people who are repatriating their countrymen, Secretary?
01:02Yes. What we are noticing is that this month of September, there are more people who are being repatriated.
01:14As of now, in total, since the President ordered the free and safe repatriation of our countrymen from Lebanon,
01:24430 people have been repatriated.
01:26This month of September, more than a hundred people were repatriated.
01:38Even so, we know that there are still many who are not availing of voluntary repatriation.
01:44That's why our call is to join the DFA, our embassy in Beirut, as a call to go home,
01:54while the airport can still be opened and our countrymen can still go home safely.
02:02Since they have expressed their desire to go home, how long will it take for them to go back to the Philippines?
02:11There is a process with the Lebanese authorities.
02:14We know that there is a process that will take at least 60 days to go home.
02:23It will take at least one to two weeks because there is immigration processing authority in Lebanon.
02:30Of course, I would like to express again that the free repatriation, service and acceptance of them here,
02:40the whole of government approach that our President ordered,
02:43the DSWD and DOH are happy to meet and test those who are returning.
02:51Secretary, there are many Filipinos who do not want to go home.
02:55Are they safe there? Do you have communication with them?
02:58Or do you want to give a message to their loved ones who are here to reach them the call of the DSWD?
03:06Most Filipinos in Lebanon are in the middle of Bahagi, which is Beirut.
03:13Lebanon is a coastal country along the Mediterranean Sea.
03:18The southern Lebanon, which is called northern Israel, has a population of less than 100 Filipinos in the southern cities and towns.
03:31On the border, there are no Filipinos, but in the southern cities and towns, there are around less than 100.
03:37We are in touch with the Filipinos there.
03:41Most of them are in Beirut.
03:44We are calling on them to avail voluntary repatriation.
03:51Thank you very much, DMWD Secretary Hans Kakdak. Good morning to you, Secretary.
03:57Thank you. Thank you. God bless.
