00:00He was the one who knocks, but will Walter White ever be resurrected for a proper revival?
00:06Only if a certain demand is met, according to the man who played him.
00:10Most TV fans probably thought that the door was completely closed on Bryan Cranston playing
00:14Walter White again after the character's dramatic death in the series finale of Breaking Bad.
00:18But they would be sorely mistaken.
00:21Cranston has actually reprised the role a few times in the years since, mostly in projects
00:25directly tied to Breaking Bad.
00:27These have included flashback sequences in the 2019 movie sequel El Camino and the spinoff
00:32series Better Call Saul, as well as sillier moments like a couple of Super Bowl commercials.
00:37In a 2023 interview with AwardsRadar, Cranston shared that he has one major condition for
00:41ever playing Walter White again, though it's one that clearly has been met a few times
00:45already.
00:46Basically, he's not entirely opposed to resurrecting the character so long as the circumstances
00:51are right.
00:52That's potentially exciting for fans of this all-time classic antihero, who would surely
00:56love to see him be the danger one more time.
01:00Cranston admitted in the interview that he can never underestimate Vince Gilligan, the
01:03creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, who also wrote and directed El Camino.
01:08Clearly, Cranston had no problem reuniting with his former showrunner to play Walt in
01:12flashbacks years later.
01:14Nor did he have an issue starring in commercials alongside Aaron Paul, who played Walt's sidekick
01:18Jesse Pinkman.
01:19It's just basic ingredients.
01:21As Cranston explained to AwardsRadar,
01:23I'll just leave it at nothing's on the horizon, and I know that Vince would not want to do
01:27something where... he doesn't need a paycheck and neither do I, and so let's honor that.
01:32But if there was something that he woke up from a dream and went, oh my God, and he pitched
01:36me on it, and I too had the, oh my God, reaction, then I'd look at it.
01:41If you're stunned and astonished by something, you should pay attention.
01:44So if that happens, I don't assume that will, but if that ever did, I'd listen.
01:49It sounds like Cranston is game to play Walt again as long as Gilligan brings him something
01:53interesting.
01:54That's not too dissimilar to the time that Danny DeVito said that he'd be willing to
01:57play the Penguin again only if Batman Returns director Tim Burton is involved.
02:01But if you've been following Cranston's post-Breaking Bad career closely, you know that Gilligan
02:06doesn't necessarily have to be involved for a Walter White revival that's a little more
02:09tongue-in-cheek.
02:11Which brings us to Cranston's recent guest appearance on a certain long-running sitcom.
02:15On June 28, 2023, the most famous buffoons from the city of brotherly love crossed over
02:20with the most famous fictional characters from Albuquerque on the It's Always Sunny
02:24in Philadelphia episode, Celebrity Booze, The Ultimate Cash Grab.
02:28The plot features Cranston and Aaron Paul as fictionalized versions of themselves trying
02:31to market their real-life brand of mezcal, Dos Hombres.
02:35Then the gang from Patti's Pub decide that they also want to get in on the Celebrity
02:38Booze action.
02:39Hijinks inevitably ensue, including Charlie drinking a combination of vodka and nickels
02:44and stealing a limo.
02:45Eventually, Cranston gets fed up with being bossed around and goes full Heisenberg on
02:49everyone by delivering a terrifying monologue.
02:51Ultimately, though, he reveals that he's just messing with them.
02:54I was just joking.
02:56But I do love to perform.
02:57I do.
02:58It's in my blood.
02:59Aaron Paul revealed how it all came together when he told The Hollywood Reporter,
03:02I actually pitched Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton the idea of Brian and I coming into
03:06Philly to do a Dos Hombres tour and somehow we connect.
03:10So they came up with this idea, they threw the script at us, and we were super excited
03:13to jump on board.
03:15So take note, Vince Gilligan, any idea you have for a revival better be as good as the
03:19script of Celebrity Booze, The Ultimate Cash Grab.
