This fast begins with a special and unique tradition, which is performed a day before the fast. Before starting the Nirjala fast on Tuesday, on Monday, women consumed Mahua roti and fish as per traditional beliefs. So that every fasting person gets fish and Mahua, it is believed that the more one distributes on this day, the more the age of his children increases. Tomorrow morning before sunrise, women will start the Nirjala fast by having Othgan (light meal).
