00:00Hey guys, so some of our supporters on Patreon and PayPal and Ko-fi would have
00:05seen this photo recently, just this still photo. It's a promotion for a Christmas
00:10chicken thing through one of the convenience stores. You will notice it's
00:14all girls in this image, and last year, 12 months ago, we showed you this image which
00:22was promoting chicken at some convenience store. You'll notice it's all
00:26boys, and this is a really common thing that we see all the time, all the imagery
00:33television and magazines and books, and groups of boys, groups of girls, and not
00:42mixed, not mixed, so groups of girls, groups of boys. For some reason, this is
00:51this is the imagery that we see in advertising and posters, you know,
00:54television advertisements. Groups of guys doing things, groups of girls doing
01:00things, and the interesting thing is in real life, that's what we see too. So this
01:05summer we went to the beach, there was lots of groups of girls and lots of
01:09groups of boys, and again, now and again you'll get couples, now and again you'll
01:12get a mixed group of boys and girls together, but probably fair to say the
01:17majority of young people, groups of boys, groups of girls. You see it in restaurants
01:22as well, you see it, we went to a water park last week, we saw the same thing in
01:27the water park. Groups of boys at the water park running around having fun,
01:32groups of girls at the water park running around having fun, and not really
01:35connecting with each other at all, just the boys happy to be in their group, the
01:39girls happy to be in their group, and we see it all the time. The high school
01:43students and university students that we know, with some exceptions, there are some
01:47exceptions that will hang out with other people from the other sex, but
01:51most of the people that we know in high school and university here, same thing, on
01:55the weekend they hang out with their friends, all the girls hang out with their
01:58friends, all the boys hang out with their friends. So it's just this interesting
02:02thing in Japanese society, even the adults, the parents that we know,
02:06they have the mamatachi group, where the mothers all hang out together, you know,
02:11and the fathers are in their work things usually, where they go and hang out with
02:15the guys from work. But there's this interesting thing in Japanese society
02:19where the guys hang out together and the girls hang out together. Again, now
02:22and again people mix, but fair to say this imagery that we're seeing is a
02:27pretty good cross-representation of what we see in real life. Interesting, isn't it?
