00:00Hey, Dr. Berg here.
00:03In this video, we're going to talk about apple cider vinegar.
00:06What are the benefits?
00:07What are the myths?
00:08First of all, here's the myth, that apple cider vinegar contains a lot of nutrients.
00:12It really does not.
00:13It doesn't have a lot of vitamin A. It doesn't have a lot of vitamin C. It doesn't have a
00:17lot of minerals.
00:19What it does have is something even more important.
00:22In fact, the real reason why apple cider vinegar works for so many conditions has to do with
00:28this one thing it has called acetic acid.
00:30That's an acid.
00:32The reason why it works is, and this might go against a lot of philosophies out there,
00:37is that the body, most bodies that I check in my office over many, many years, are way
00:44too alkaline.
00:45Now, I know that goes against maybe what you've heard, that everyone's too acid, but that's
00:52not true.
00:54You really have to ... When you talk about pH, you really have to understand that every
00:57part of your body has a different pH.
00:59If someone says, oh yeah, you're too acid, well, what pH are you talking about?
01:03The urine?
01:04Are you talking about the saliva?
01:06The real true indicator of pH for a body should be in the blood, but it's very difficult to
01:13test that because as soon as you take the blood out of the body, it oxidizes and it
01:17can change the pH right away.
01:19It's very expensive to determine that, so you have to go by symptoms.
01:23If you ever wanted to really know, just look up in, I don't know, Google it, all the conditions
01:28for too acid, called acidosis, and look up for the conditions of alkalosis and all those
01:34symptoms and you'll be able to see which ones you have and you can determine based on those
01:39two factors.
01:41What we're talking about is the blood pH here.
01:44Most people have a blood pH which is excessively alkaline, and yes, it's true that your blood
01:49should be slightly alkaline, but in this situation, it becomes even too alkaline.
01:54That's why opposite of integrate works so well because it changes.
01:57If you change the pH of your body just a slight bit, you can create huge effects because the
02:04pH is so important in transporting minerals and allowing enzymes to work to stimulate
02:12the thyroid, to increasing metabolism, all these things.
02:15Let's just take a deeper look at this one acid, acetic acid.
02:19The pH of acetic acid is very acidic.
02:22It's 2.5.
02:23That's almost like stomach acid pH.
02:26It's way down there.
02:28It's really good for the stomach.
02:29People take it for heartburn.
02:31By the way, heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, that is a condition where your stomach is
02:36too alkaline and the valve on top does not close.
02:40I know people say it's too much acid.
02:41No, it's not.
02:43If you have acid reflux or heartburn, just take some opposite of vinegar and see how
02:48much better you feel.
02:49You'll feel wonderful because the valve will start closing on the top and the acid won't
02:53start regurgitating up through that valve.
02:55It's good for GERD, acid reflux, indigestion.
02:58As you age, especially over the age of 50, 60, 70, your pH in your stomach starts going
03:03lower.
03:04I'm sorry, it goes higher and higher and higher, so it becomes more and more alkaline.
03:08You need more acid as you age to be able to digest protein and absorb minerals.
03:16If your pH is too alkaline, which most people have a problem with, too much alkaline, they
03:21can't absorb calcium.
03:22They can't absorb minerals like they used to.
03:24What happens, especially with calcium, is calcium starts building up in the soft tissues
03:29throughout the body.
03:30You have the soft tissue calcification.
03:33You see it in people that are getting older.
03:34They're getting stiff.
03:35They have arthritis, bursitis.
03:37They get calcium developing on the eyes.
03:39There's cataracts.
03:40On the joints is arthritis.
03:42On the nerves, there's neuritis.
03:44On the kidney is kidney stones.
03:46On the gallbladder is gallstones.
03:49The teeth is tartar.
03:51That could come from a pH problem.
03:53It's an alkalosis, a systemic alkalosis, which is your whole body is too alkaline.
03:58One of the things that I like to do as well is make sure they're taking the fat soluble
04:02vitamins to transport that calcium out, like vitamin D and K2.
04:06In this video, we're going to talk about the pH piece of this thing.
04:10What causes this alkaline state?
04:14It has to do with this.
04:15In this book, it's called Cibola Encyclopedia of Endocrinology, Volume 4, Frank Knitter,
04:20M.D.
04:21This is one of the main books that is used in medical schools.
04:25It's a great physiology book to help you get some of the facts on how the body works.
04:29Right here, if you look on the page that talks about high cortisol, that's the stress hormone,
04:36high stress, high cortisol, causes alkalosis.
04:40It makes your body too alkaline.
04:44Unless you don't live on planet Earth, you might not have this problem, but most people
04:47I know live on planet Earth.
04:48They have a lot of stress.
04:49Their bodies become too alkaline over time.
04:52The worst thing you can do is start drinking alkaline waters.
04:55Now, it's okay to drink water that's already alkaline, but don't try to alkalize it to
05:00an eight or a nine because you're going to make your body worse.
05:05Then you won't be able to absorb calcium and things like that.
05:08With adrenal, like stress and high cortisol, you become too alkaline and you lose this
05:14little thing called H+, so if you've ever taken calcium, I'm sorry, chemistry, you'll
05:19notice that H+, is an acid.
05:24In other words, the adrenal causes you to lose acid through the urine and become too
05:31alkaline.
05:33Here's all the effects that stress can create.
05:37An alkaline body, which then blocks calcium, so you have all this calcium that plugs up
05:41everything, but it's unavailable to you, so you start getting the twitch in the left eye.
05:46You ever notice when people get stressed, they start twitching?
05:49You know why that is?
05:51Because it changes the pH and the person can't absorb calcium.
05:56Then, this is a calcium deficiency.
05:59You can take calcium, but if the pH isn't right, it won't work.
06:02The best thing to do if you have that twitch is to drink alpacita vinegar, boom, drop the
06:06pH to make more acidic, the calcium gets mobilized, and the twitch goes away.
06:11Cramping in the calf, alpacita vinegar is the best thing to mobilize the calcium and
06:14get rid of cramping in your calves.
06:17Nerve pain, neuritis, especially migrating pain with arthritis that maybe it'll move
06:23from this joint to this joint to this joint, oh my gosh, give them a little alpacita vinegar,
06:27they are happy.
06:30With stress, you become too alkaline, you lose acid, and you lose potassium.
06:36The only reason I'm bringing up this potassium, which is a little extra thing, is that alkaline
06:41bodies tend to have a potassium loss, and then when you lose potassium, you actually
06:48make the person more alkaline, so they kind of work together.
06:54People say, well, drink alpacita vinegar to increase your potassium.
06:57That's not what's going to do it.
06:58Alpacita vinegar will help increase your potassium, because you'll stop losing the
07:03potassium, and you'll make the body more acidic, and like it should be, and so that will help
07:08the potassium.
07:09Just think about, look at this, potassium deficiency, high blood pressure, constipation,
07:14feeling of weakness, fatigue, irregular heartbeats.
07:18When you hear these claims about alpacita vinegar curing all these different things,
07:22high blood pressure, constipation, weakness, irregular heartbeats, it's because of the
07:28retention of the potassium, because of the chain reaction that occurs after getting
07:33the pH in the correct level.
07:36People that drink a lot of protein drinks, or they eat too much protein, let's say they
07:42do the Atkins diet, or they're doing this high-protein diet, what happens, there's the
07:47waste from that protein, it's called guanidine, it's a chemical, very, very, very, very, very
07:56alkaline, and so that can cause twitching, nerve pain, and a lot of arthritis.
08:08Even when you do the ketosis diet, and you're doing more protein, you may feel stiff, you
08:16might feel more arthritic, drink some alpacita vinegar, it flushes this thing out so nicely,
08:21so alpacita vinegar is the antidote to the residue of high protein, too much protein
08:28for your liver and your body, so it's a really good cleanser.
08:33This acid, alpacita vinegar, helps absorb minerals, helps mobilize calcium, helps you
08:37digest protein better without the waste, it helps the immune system, and that's the last
08:42thing I want to talk about.
08:44You've heard that people will take vitamin C for a cold, right, or for a virus infection.
08:52It's not the vitamin C necessarily that's creating the big effect, because most people
08:56aren't even taking vitamin C, they're taking a vitamin C lookalike, or a fake vitamin C
09:01called ascorbic acid, which is not really the true vitamin C complex, which again, I'll
09:06have people disagree on this video, because you can make synthetic vitamin C from ascorbic
09:13acid and cornstarch.
09:16First of all, corn has no vitamin C, cornstarch has no vitamin C, ascorbic acid has no vitamin
09:20C, how can you take two things that don't have vitamin C, mix them together, and make
09:24ascorbic acid and think that's vitamin C?
09:26It's just, it's fake.
09:28The real benefit of vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is the acid.
09:34You'd be much better taking the acetic acid to help your immune system, if you get a cold,
09:39if you have a fever, a viral infection, start taking the apple cider vinegar, it's really,
09:44really important.
09:45These are the true benefits of apple cider vinegar, because it acidifies an alkaline
09:50body.
09:51In the next section, I'm just going to show you a little concoction that I make, and I
09:55drink on a regular basis.
09:59Let me show you how to make this.
10:00This is in my book, Chapter 10, it's called The Cranberry Drink.
10:03It should be called The Apple Cider Vinegar Drink.
10:06It's very simple, and you really should try this, because it will help you lose weight.
10:11If you drank one of these before you ate three times a day, you would lose a lot more weight,
10:18because it stimulates the thyroid, and it acidifies the stomach.
10:22The only thing that I would recommend, if you have a very slow metabolism, is you might
10:26want to omit the cranberry juice.
10:29You get the Bragg's apple cider vinegar, I like this the best, and simply teaspoon in
10:36some water, actually do two, two teaspoons in the water before each meal.
10:48Some people say don't consume water before a meal, but this is an acid drink, so it's
10:54going to help stomach acids.
10:56Check this out.
10:57This is my favorite lemon juice, Italian Volcano Lemon Juice.
11:01It's organic lemon juice, and this stuff is magical.
11:05It's wonderful, and you get it from the health store.
11:08It's grown on these soils where the volcanic ash fertilized the soil, so you just do a
11:15teaspoon of this lemon right here.
11:20You don't have to use this lemon juice.
11:22You can use other lemon juice.
11:24You can use lemons.
11:26I like that lemon juice, because I'm spoiled.
11:30Cranberry juice, make sure you read the back label, and it just comes from whole cranberries.
11:36Some people get the one that has extra grape juice or apple juice.
11:40You don't want that.
11:41Just do a teaspoon of this, and basically, this is your drink.
11:49Now, I like to, and this is just me, you don't have to do this.
11:54You can add some ginger, and there's some ginger root that you can shred in there and
12:00makes it a little spicy.
12:01I basically have this ginger extract that you can get.
12:06It's a liquid form.
12:07It's like ginger juice.
12:08You put a little ginger.
12:09It's real spicy.
12:10There's a lot of great properties.
12:11It's a very good tonic.
12:14Again, if you can't stand the taste, chances are you probably don't need it.
12:21If you really need it, you will crave it, and it makes you feel better, but I really
12:25want you to try this.
12:27Real simple.
12:28Drink this before you eat, and watch how much better you feel.
