Boeing Furloughs Thousands of Executives, Managers, and Staff Amid Massive Machinist Strike

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg announced Wednesday that it will temporarily furlough thousands of U.S. executives, managers, and staff due to the ongoing machinist strike. The furloughs come after more than 30,000 machinists in Seattle and Oregon rejected a labor contract, with 96% voting to strike. Boeing had offered a 25% raise, but workers felt it didn’t match the rising cost of living or restore pensions. Nonunion facilities will continue operations.
